Chapter 876

Wendy hurried away before Kevan had the chance to awaken Larissa. She ran all the way to the elevator.

In fact, she did have an appointment with the doctor for a checkup. Still, that was scheduled in the afternoon. She went out without Larissa's and Kevan's knowledge for another important maller.

Having lived and worked in Westonia for almost ten years, Wendy had built up a small network of friends. Although it wasn't extensive, it was sufficient for what she needed.

After inquiring from her friends, she found out that Edmund was receiving treatment at the hospital. He was heavily injured after being brought to the police station.

She also had someone speak to an officer in charge of this case. Wendy was granted 15 minutes to speak with Edmund as a family member of the patient.

Wendy thought that Edmund fought back during the process of being arrested. So, it wasn't surprising that he sustained some injuries. When she saw his body wrapped in bandages from head to toe, it took a while for her to recover from the shock.

Edmund's current condition did not pose a risk to anyone. The officer gave them some privacy and stood guard outside.

Wendy was unable to accept that Edmund was severely injured. She inched to the side of his bed.

Her eyes were wide and filled with tears.

"You" She struggled to speak. Although it had been a day, her voice was still somewhat hoa rse.

Edmund's legs were both broken, so the doctor gave him an injection for the pain. His eyes remained open, but his mind was still confused.

It took a lot of effort for Edmund to recognize Wendy.

Parting his lips. he called out her name weakly. "Wendy?"

"It's me!" Wendy replied. When she got closer, she noticed his pale complexion and the wounds on his face.

His lips were cracked and bloody in several places, covered in scabs.

"How are you?" she asked. After all, she had genuinely liked him. Even though he had done some things that hurt her, she was still upset. Edmund closed his eyes for a moment. As it gathering the last ounce of his strength, he squeezed out an apology, "I'm sorry

Tears fell from Wendy's eyes.

"It's alright!" She took a step forward and held his hand. "I will go to the police station later and tell them that Lari made a mistake!

"You didn't do any harm to me! As long as I drop the case, they will let you go! When that happens, go back to Caldor and live your life well. You don't have to come back here!"

It took some time for Edmund to process what Wendy said.

Larissa and Kevan seemed to have kept some of the truth from Wendy. It wasn't hard to guess why.

A cunning look appeared in Edmund's eyes before he put on an expression of grief.

He lowered his gaze and sighed.

"Unfortunately, even if you drop the case, those two friends of yours won't let me off the hook."

He was obviously referring to Larissa and Kevan, Wendy couldn't think of anyone else.

"That's not true! They are very good peoplet As long as I explain everything to them, they will definitely understand!" Wendy defended them.

Edmund chuckled. "You're just too kind and innocent."
