Chapter 90
Chapter 90
Larissa received many congratulations for her successful attempt at defending her honor and vindicating herself.
The general manager called her as well and informed her that he was appealing directly to his superiors for her reinstatement and that she would most probably be able to return to work at the Regal Dynasty the week after.
Larissa thanked him.
On Saturday morning, Larissa received a call from Kevan.
He was already waiting for her downstairs.
Larissa didn't want to make him wait for too long, so she merely changed into a set of new clothes without tidying herself up or putting on makeup. She left the house after that.
Kevan was the only one in the car, so Larissa naturally sat in the passenger's seat.
"Is Dylan not coming with us?" she asked.
Kevan's fingers tightened around the steering wheel.
The first thing she asked about was Dylan-how maddening.
"He's not coming." he replied coldly.
Larissa hummed in acknowledgment. "Did you have breakfast yet?" she continued.
"Nope." He stared straight ahead.
"Do you want to eat?" Larissa retrieved a thermos from the paper bag by her feet. "I made oatmeal with
cardamom, sunflower seeds, and milk."
She knew that Kevan disliked eating out, so she made breakfast for him.
"If you want it sweeter, I brought along honey, raisins, and dried cranberries as well."
Kevan pressed the brakes upon hearing her words and stopped the car by the roadside.
"Just the oatmeal will do," he told her.
Larissa immediately handed him the thermos.
"Can you please remove the lid yourself? I'll get you the spoon at once." She bent down again as she spoke and took out a brand-new spoon from the paper bag.
"I unpacked this only yesterday and washed it right before I came down. You can rest assured that it's clean."
She looked unusually docile as she smiled sweetly at him.
Kevan pressed his tongue against the roof of his mouth in restraint.

He placed the thermos on his thigh.
As soon as he removed the lid, the fragrance of the oatmeal wafted through his nostrils along with the warmth emanating from within. He couldn't resist the urge to dig in immediately.
Kevan accepted the spoon she handed him and scooped up a spoonful of oatmeal before sending it into his
mouth.
The oatmeal was cooked to perfection-it was not too thick, nor too watery. The proportions of its contents blended together beautifully as well, and he could taste the aromatic fragrance of the cardamom, the creaminess of the milk, and the distinct flavor of the roasted sunflower seeds along with the slight sweetness of the whole thing in every bite he took.
Kevan considered himself to have particularly picky tastes. Even though he had no problem forcing himself to stomach even the most unappetizing food, the ones he wholeheartedly regarded as "delicious" were truly rare. Larissa's oatmeal happened to be one of those rare instances.
It made him think of the past-
Of that stubborn, lively girl sitting by his bed, spooning oatmeal into his mouth.
"I'll have you know that I made this oatmeal myself using my own recipe! Isn't it much better than the stuff
they sell outside?"
The way she'd raised her brows and lifted her chin in pride was still emblazoned within his mind.
Kevan finished the last of her oatmeal and looked at the woman beside him.
Her appearance was vastly different from the young woman in his memories, but the differences in her personality were even more striking.
For instance, now, she could only look at him surreptitiously, her gaze nervous yet hopeful.
"It's way better than the ones you can replace outside." His icy voice carried hints of warmth and a touch of
tenderness in his eyes.
Larissa hardly believed her own eyes. She blinked, catching sight of the faint smile on his lips. He was evidently in a good mood.
Kevan screwed the lid back on and handed the thermos back to her.
"Thank you," he told her.
Still, despite this, Larissa couldn't help but fix her gaze on his face, her expression one of inexplicable puzzlement.
