ROSIE POV

Well my night was so short but well I don't think I should be complaining because at least I slept a little unlike Smith who looks so terrible. You can tell without looking at him twice that he hasn't slept throughout the whole night all because he was worried for his I was also worried for Maria also but it wasn't compared to what he was feeling. It's his mate we are talking about here.j

I slept in an empty room which had no bed because the room that had a bed was given to Maria. She needed it more than I do. I was given blankets to use and it wasn't really that bad. Smith on the other hand stayed in the living room.

I have been awake ever since but had refuse to leave the room since everywhere was quiet. I stayed on the blanket hoping today will be nice since it was a Sunday also no school yeyyy.

I decided to leave the room when I noticed it was pass 8 and everywhere was bright thanks to the beautiful sun.

I went to take a bath first in the bathroom that was inside the room. After I was done bathing, I wore my dress and went out of the room.

I saw Smith in the living room staring at the space. I sat close to him.

"Hey good morning." I said getting his attention.

"Hey Rosie." he said giving me a dry smile. "How are you holding up?" I asked him.

"Well can't say. I just feel lost." he said. "I might not understand what you might be feeling but I need you to be strong. Not only for yourself but for Maria. I can tell she needs a strong person right now and even if it's going take awhile, I know she will definitely open up to you. Although I don't think it will take long because you are an awesome person who is also friendly. I'm sure because of your good behavior, she will definitely be close to you before you know it." I said to him.

"You think so?" he asked with hope in his eyes.

"No I don't think so, I know so. Trust me." I assured him with a smile on my face. "Thank you Rosie."

"Your welcome. Just make sure you are nice to her and no matter what her story is, you will stick to her and not reject her because you think she's weak and you are a beta who needs a stronger mate. I won't forgive you if you hurt her in that manner. Besides I think she's strong if she was able to endure whatever she had faced and escape from it." I said to him not smiling this time. Well I just didn't want Maria to suffer like me.

"Woah calm down Rosie. There is no way I would reject her. Hell no way will I even think of that. And I don't care about her story. To me she is so important and also brave too. Besides why do you sound just like Evans right now although yours is the opposite from what he said?" he asked with a brow up as he looked at me with a questioned look on his face.

I quickly cleared my throat.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked feeling nervous maybe he caught something I wasn't supposed to say.

"Well he went about saying I should reject my mate since she's a rogue and also weak. He went on blabbing about how I should be mated to my equal and not someone below me." Smith said rolling his eyes. "That cruel freaking bastard." I blurted out angrily.

"Woah Rosie calm down. I didn't know you knew how to cause. Calm down will you." Smith said.

I was so angry. How dare he? After ruining my life, he is thinking of ruining another person's life with his stupid thoughts about power. Who does he think he is to decide who Smith should be mated to? "And what did you tell him?" I asked Smith hoping he didn't listen to his foolish friend or alpha.

"Well I got angry and shut him up immediately. He has no right to decide who is my mate. And I love my mate the way she is rogue or not rogue, weak or strong I don't care. She's mine and mine alone and she's also my equal too." I felt a tear drop when he finished talking.

"Hey Rosie what's wrong? Why are you crying?" he asked looking worried.

"Don't mind me. I'm sorry for crying it's just that your words touched my heart. You sure are a true mate who every girl out there will desire to have. Maria is lucky to have you." I said to him as I wiped my tears. "Are you sure you're okay?" he asked again looking worried.

"I'm fine don't worry." I said to him.

Then we heard a sniff. We looked up to see Maria was standing right in front of with tears in her eyes. We quickly stood up but no one moved.

"Hey Maria good morning. Hope you slept well?" I asked in a very calm voice as I was trying not to scare her.

She nodded her head to answer my question.

"Tell me, are you hungry? I can prepare something for you to eat right now."

She shook her head like she was saying no but then her stomach exposed her by growling loudly. Her face turned red as she was embarrassed.

I let out a little laughter.

"Well I think we have to feed your stomach as it has started protesting. Come on you can join me in the kitchen if you don't want to stay here." I said to her as I stood up.

I began to walk to the kitchen and I noticed she was following me behind. I knew she will feel uncomfortable if I leave her with Smith.

We were about to enter the kitchen when she stopped walking and turned to Smith.

"I apologize for being rude yesterday and also eavesdropping your conversation. Also thank you for the kind words which you said." she said in a soft voice before turning to meet me where I stood.

I looked at Smith and the guy was so silent maybe processing that his mate just spoke to him. Then he let out a bright smile. I couldn't help but smile with him also. At least there is a little improvement from yesterday. "Let's go." I said to the lady who was waiting patiently for me.

We entered the kitchen and began to look for ingredients that we could prepare breakfast with. This isn't my house so it was hard to replace where the things were kept. We were able to replace flour, butter and egg. I decided to just prepare pancakes since I had nothing in mind again except that.

We got to work or no sorry I got to work while Maria sat and just watched me.

I decided to use this chance to get some information about her since she seems free with me.

"So Maria tell me how old are you?" I asked her.

"I'm 16 years old." she replied.

I was so surprised she was my age mate. I mean she doesn't look it. She looks 14.

"Wow I must say you look very young. I honestly wasn't expecting you to be my age mate." I said to her.

"You are also 16 years old?" she asked.

"Yup I am and because we are of the same age, we will be friends from now hence forth. Or you don't want me to be your friend?" I asked her not wanting to rushed her to what she doesn't want.

"I would love to be your friend except that I haven't gotten any friend so I don't know how it works." she said looking down.

"Hey don't feel bad about it. Remember the girl you met yesterday? She is actually my first friend too. I haven't had a friend ever since. But now I do and trust me I didn't know what to do but now I have adapted to it so well that I got two more friends that it Smith the guy you saw earlier and Nate Angel's mate. And now I have you also added into my list." I said to her smiling.

"So his name is Smith? The guy in the living room?" she asked.

I smiled at her. I think she's already liking Smith already.

"Yes that's his name. And do you know who he is to you?" I asked her.

"He said I was his mate earlier although I don't believe him." she said.

"Wait why? Didn't you feel your wolf calling for him? Or didn't you feel the sparks when he touched you yesterday?" I asked her.

"I felt the sparks but my wolf is so weak and she isn't responding. Besides I was told I would never replace a mate." she said looking down.

"What? Who told you that?" Smith barge in looking very angry.

Maria quickly jumped down from her chair and ran to hide behind me.

I turned to look at Smith.

"Not now Smith, you are scaring her can't you see." I said to him.

He looked at me then behind me. He closed his eyes and began to catch his breath. Then he opened his eyes looking less angrier than earlier.

"Hey I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you like that. Just that I couldn't control myself when I heard what you just said." Smith said.

It took Maria some minutes before she peaked her head out a little.

"It's fine." she said before hiding back.

"Smith out of the kitchen. We are trying to cook here. Don't enter the kitchen again." I said to him.

If I wanted to know more about her, he shouldn't be distracting us or interrupting us with his presence.

"Alright fine. I'm sorry once again." he said but I knew his apology was not to me but to his mate.

I watched as he left the kitchen before letting Maria know. She peeped first to see if it was true before she went back to her sit.

"Maria can you try and be less afraid of Smith. His a good person who will never hurt you. You heard what he said earlier. He really wants you to be his mate." I said to her.

"I know it's just that I can't help myself from hiding from him whenever I see him." she said.

I decided to just let her be. I'm sure one day or even soon she will definitely change.
