The Alpha King's Rebellious Queen -
The Alpha King’s Rebellious Queen Chapter 17
Jemma’s POV
Isabelle lead me out of the library and to the elevator. We rode in silence as it hit the top floor. There she pulled me into her and Terry’s suite. It had a large sitting area with large couches and a large TV. The bed sat raised on a platform. It was a lot more airy and feminine than Cassius’s room. She sat me down on one of the couches. She picked up her phone from a desk and dialed it. She sat beside me.
“Hello, Melinda.”
“Izzy?” I heard my mother’s voice on the other end. “Is Jemma alright?”
Isabelle laughed. “She will be.” She glanced at me with a smile. “I am just calling to see if perhaps you can put your grandson on the phone so he can talk to his mother.”
There was a pause, which made my heart beat faster. “Sure, of course. Sorry I had to figure out where he is. Phil has him in the office. Why don’t I call back in a few minutes so they can video chat.”
“Okay?” Isabelle shrugged. “That sounds good.” She said as the line went dead. She set the phone on the coffee table. “Do you know how to do the video chat thing? I haven’t a clue.”
I laughed. “Of course I do.”
She rolled her eyes. “Duh. You damn pups and your technology. So when the phone rings again or whatever it does. Answer it. I am going to make some tea. Would you like some?”
“Sure,” I replied even though I was not a big fan of tea. Some tea I could stand but most was kind of gross to me. She stood up and walked towards another part of the suite. It was set up like a small kitchen with a microwave and fridge. She also had an electric kettle. I picked up the phone, eagerly awaiting the call. Isabelle returned to the couch with a golden tray with two beautiful teacups and a pleasant smelling tea.
“It’s raspberry tea.” She said while handing me a cup.
Hesitantly, I took a sip and was surprised by the taste. “Oh wow, this is good.” The phone rang, and I almost dropped the cup, but Isabelle gently took the cup as I answered the phone. “Mom?”
My father’s face appeared on the screen. I could see he was sitting in his office. He smiled. “Hi, Jemma.”
“Daddy!” I smiled at him.
“I have someone here who wants to talk to you.” He lowered the phone, and I about burst into tears at the beautiful blue eyed blonde headed image.
“Mommy!” My son’s voice came through as he brightened up.
My hands started shaking as I almost dropped the phone. “Nicky! Hi Baby.” Tears flowed freely out of my eyes as I looked at my child. I wanted so much to hold him in my arms.
“Why are you crying, Mommy?”
“I’m just so happy to see you. I missed you so much, my beautiful boy. Are you keeping Grandpa company?”
My father laughed. “He says he is helping me, Alpha.”
“That’s good, Nicky. You help Grandpa. He needs all the help he can get.”
“Daddy says I’ll be Beta someday like Papa. But I want to be Alpha.” My boy had big dreams. I couldn’t help but laugh. Being of both Alpha and Beta b***d, my boy would be a strong wolf someday.
“Uncle Iain is going to be Alpha next, and then his son will be Alpha after him. You will be Beta alongside your cousin when your Daddy retires.” I explained to him. “But who knows. Things happen, and you may one day be Alpha.” He seemed to be distracted while I spoke to him. He can’t help the three-year-old attention span.
“Mommy, Auntie Tiffy says you are queen now.”
I nodded. “Yes. I am. That’s why I had to go away.”
He frowned. “Forever?”
“No, baby. I will visit you soon.”
“Than I can come live with you?”
I had to choke back a sob. “We’ll see about that. For now, you stay with your Daddy and your Grandparents. Isn’t Daddy taking good care of you?” I had faith in Jeremy to care for our son.
“He took me to the zoo with Esther.” He beamed.
“That’s your favorite place to go. Did you see the tigers?”
He nodded. Tigers being his favorite animals after wolves, of course. “The one tiger played in the water.”
“That’s good Daddy and Esther are taking care of you.” I had to suppress my jealousy of Esther taking care of my son. ‘She is Jeremy’s mate. We should be glad that she is good to Nicky.’ I had to remind myself.
I heard my father clear his throat. “Jemma, I have a meeting to attend. So, you can call Nicky later or tomorrow.”
“Nicky. I have to go now. But I’ll talk to you real soon, I promise.”
He frowned. “Okay, Mommy.”
“Be good for your Daddy and everyone else. I love you so so much. You are my everything, Nicky.”
“I love you, Mommy.”
My father lifted the phone from my son. “Jemma, I hope everything is alright with you.”
I nodded. “It’s fine, Dad. I love you. Thank you for this.”
He smiled. “Anything for my little girl. Say hi to Terry for me. Bye.” He then hung up the phone, and I sat there staring at it. A tear dropped onto the screen. I wiped it off before setting it down on the coffee table.
I looked to see where Isabelle was. She was opening the suite’s door and allowing a couple of omegas to wheel in a cart. The smell of food made my stomach gurgle. “I had them bring lunch to us. I know you must be starved.” She smiled.
I looked at the cart, and there were several different kinds of sandwiches with fruit and pickles. “I haven’t eaten much since yesterday morning.”
She waved the omegas away, and they left the room. I stood up and started to load up a plate with a large roast beef sandwich with grapes and melon. I sat down on the couch beside Isabelle and dug in. I had the sandwich almost finished before I could speak again.
“Are you feeling better, dear?” Isabelle asked while daintily munching on a turkey sandwich.
“Yes, thank you, Izzy.”
“So, you’ll work on forging my son?”
I nodded slowly. I still wasn’t entirely sure about Cassius and me. The mate bond between us was strong, but I was still fighting it. I didn’t want to lose myself to it completely. I still wanted to be me and not just the king’s mate. And even after talking to Nicky, I could still hear him screaming for me in my thoughts. “I promise I’ll work on it. But it’s hard.”
“Relationships are never easy, Jemma. Even after twenty-six years with Terrance, we still have our problems, but when you love someone, you do everything you can to fix the problems.” She explained.
We finished our lunch, and Isabelle decided to take me on a tour of the palace. She took me through both libraries and showed me all of the conference rooms. I liked the large recreation and game room with arcade games and pool tables with all the gaming systems and a bar. There was even a bowling alley and a movie theater. “This palace has everything,” I remarked as we walked out of the game room.
“Glad you like it.” Izzy replied as we walked down one of the long hallways. Our footsteps echoed as we passed guards and omegas. Heads bowed, and Izzy smiled at each one.
Then the most heavenly scent reached my senses, and then I heard his voice speaking to others. Cassius was standing outside one of the conference rooms with Deke and four other wolves. Two of the male wolves looked to be glaring at the other. It was evident that they were Alphas. I even vaguely recognized one of them. “The matter is closed. You may leave now.” His voice boomed with authoritative anger. One of the alphas tried to speak, but Cassius held up a hand. “Alpha Trace, one more word out of your mouth, and I’ll have you thrown in the dungeons.” Cassius snapped his fingers, and two guards appeared. “Escort them outside. Make sure they all leave without conflict.” He ordered as the guards bowed. The guards and Deke began ushering the group away. Then I caught Cassius staring at me. Our eyes met, and my legs became weak as he approached me. A broad smile appeared on his clean-shaven face. He stopped in front of us and smiled at his mother.
“What are you two queens up to?”
Isabelle glanced at me. “I was just showing your mate the palace.”
“It is beautiful here,” I said to him.
He reached out a hand and clasped one of mine. The sparks that shot through my body were overwhelming. I looked up at his ocean blue eyes. For a moment, no one said anything as he leaned closer to me. His lips hovered just above mine as an arm snaked around my waist. My heart raced from the contact. “I’m glad you like it.” He whispered in my ear. “This is your home now. You are free to go anywhere you wish.”
I shivered as he spoke. “So, what was all of that about?” I referred to the alphas.
He shrugged and chuckled. “It was a mediation between alphas to prevent their packs from going to war. One Alpha’s son was abusive to the other Alpha’s daughter, and she left. Which, of course, made the son mad, and well, you know how it goes.” He explained while still holding me against him.
“So, please don’t tell me you made the daughter go back.”
He shook his head. “No, I have no tolerance for the abuse of anyone. So, I allowed the daughter to reject the son, and the son has to attend rehab, and then maybe the daughter may reconsider, but she doesn’t have to. But they are allowed to move on, and hopefully, the son will learn how to treat she-wolves better.”
I liked his explanation. “Oh, that’s good. I didn’t know you did things like that.”
“It’s something new I implemented when I became king, thanks to my mother.” He smiled at Isabelle. I glanced and saw Isabelle was standing a few feet away, talking to an omega. She glanced back at us and winked.
“Your mother is a smart woman.”
He snorted. “That she is.”
We stood in the embrace for what seemed like minutes when Deke approached us. “Sorry to interrupt, Cass. But we have a situation on the southern border.”
A low growl rumbled out of Cassius’s chest. “I’ll be right there, Deke.” He looked down at me. “Sorry, love. I have to go do King stuff.”
“I understand.”
He leaned down and hovered over my lips for a second. “Can I k**s you?”
I looked him in the eyes. He was so sincere. My anger towards him was dissipating, especially since I had been able to speak with Nicky. “Just a quick one.”
He smiled as our lips met, and he tightened his hold on me as my arms snaked around his neck. The sparks made my legs weak as I tried gasping for breath. I felt myself give in to the bond as Leonora howled happily in my head.
“Cass!” I heard Deke call from down the hall.
He sighed. “Damn.” He pulled away from the k**s, leaving me gasping for air. He traced a hand down my cheek while looking me in the eyes and then pecked my lips once more. “See you soon, my love.” He released his hold on me and walked away, leaving me weak.
My legs shook as I panted. My heart raced. I felt like collapsing when an arm linked with mine. My eyes shifted to Isabelle, who had a knowing grin on her beautiful face. She leaned into me to prevent me from falling. “Air.” I managed to squeak out.
She merely laughed. “Giving in to the bond, huh?” She said while walking us outside. I just nodded. We sat down on a bench overlooking one of the extensive gardens.
I couldn’t believe I was giving in so easily. The man had taken my child from me. But this time, when I looked into his eyes, all I saw was our future. My heart was still racing as I looked at the garden. Isabelle was sitting beside me with her hand on mine. “I have never felt anything like that before.”
“It’s amazing when you give in, isn’t it?”
I nodded. “Yes.” It was all I could muster out. Maybe things were going to work out after all. After several minutes of sitting in silence, I looked at Isabelle. “I think I just want to spend the rest of the day watching movies in the theatre.” Isabelle rose and clasped my hand, and we walked together to the theatre.
We were joined by Ainsley and watched Disney movies until it was dark outside. We even ate dinner and laughed as Isabelle told me stories about Cassius as a pup getting into mischief. Finally, I was feeling tired, and we all decided it was bedtime. “Thank you for today, Izzy.”
She hugged me as we got off the elevator. “You are welcome, dear. I wanted to make sure you felt welcomed in your new home. And thank you for giving my Cassy a chance.”
I nodded as she pulled away from me and started to walk down the hall towards our room. Part of me missed him. ‘Oh s**t, what is happening to me.’ I said to Leonora. ‘We are falling for him.’ She replied happily with a tail wag.
Sighing, I walked into the room and saw there was no one else in it. I decided to take a shower. My body relaxed as the hot water hit me from every possible angle. Leonora kept flashing images of me being held by Cassius while we made love with the water spraying us from every angle. ‘Leonora. You dirty girl.’ She just snickered.
When I was done with the shower, I exited and wrapped a towel around my body. I walked out of the bathroom. Cassius was still not here. I found myself frowning. “Oh s**t,” I mumbled. This man was turning me into a sappy mess. I was still angry with him. ‘Let go of the anger, Jemma.’ Leonora whispered in my mind. ‘Cassius will never hurt us again.’ I rummaged through my drawers and pulled out a short nightgown that was pink with colorful cartoon cats on it. After I got dressed, I picked up the biography of my grandmother and crawled into the bed. Propping myself up with pillows, I started reading.
I read for what seemed an hour when the door opened, and his scent made my body relax. Our eyes met as he stood just inside the door. He smiled a heart-melting smile and approached the bed. “Good evening, my love.”
I just smiled back. “Hi.” I managed to get out.
“Sorry, I am so late. I had more work than anticipated today.” He sat on his side of the bed and took off his shoes. “We have to talk.”
My brows furrowed as I set the book down. “About?”
He stood up and started taking off his shirt. My eyes widened as he took it off, revealing his muscled chest. I bit my l*p as he stared down at me. Leonora howled wildly in my head. ‘Pounce on him. Now.’
‘Down girl.’ I barked at her and shook my head. “W-what d-did you need to t-talk about?” Words were becoming hard to get out as he just stood there like a statue of Adonis.
He smirked. “I sense you becoming undone in the pretty little mind of yours.” His deep voice rumbled. “Trust me. It’s taking everything I have to not give into my wolf too.” He turned away from me and walked over to the bathroom. “I have to shower first, and then we’ll talk.”
“Okay,” I whispered as he went into the bathroom and didn’t bother closing the door. I picked up the book and tried reading, but I could only stare at the pages. The shower turned off, and I just stared at the door. Minutes later, he walked out with a towel wrapped around his waist. I looked away at the book and heard him chuckling as he walked into the closet. I closed my eyes and then sensed him nearby. I opened my eyes to see him standing on my side of the bed wearing only a thin pair of silk boxers, which left nothing to the imagination.
He smirked. “I like seeing you come undone, my Queen.” He sat down on the bed in front of me. “Let’s talk.” I opened my mouth to say something, only to replace words were impossible. “Well, I’ll talk since I have rendered you speechless.” He winked. I set the book down again and looked into his eyes. He reached forward and grabbed my hand. He began to trace little circles of sparks as he gazed back at me. “I just wanted to talk to you about your son.”
My eyes narrowed, and I pulled my hand away from him. A growl ripped out of my chest. “What exactly about my son?” My mood had suddenly shifted from aroused to protective mother she-wolf.
He held up a hand. “Calm down, Jemma.” He sighed. “Look, I just wanted to apologize. I should never have thought that separating you from him as I did was a good idea. It was incredibly selfish of me. It’s hypocritical of me to punish you when I have had s*x with other she-wolves.”
I folded my arms and glared at him. I leaned against the headboard as he spoke.
“I waited years for you to appear to me, and when you do, the first thing I do is break your heart. And that is not who I am. I will spend the rest of our lives making it up to you. Please forgive me.”
Sighing, I managed a small smile. “I forgive you, Cassius.”
“You are free to call him, and video chat with him. And I won’t stop you from visiting him. I will have to just get over the fact that the man who took what should have been mine will be there.”
I rolled my eyes. “And what exactly did Jeremy take that was yours?”
“Your virginity.”
“So, should I be angry at the shep-wolf that took your virginity?” I folded my arms.
He shrugged. “If you want.”
“I won’t be. Because I honestly don’t care. You had a life before I showed up. I had a life before you showed up. I’m sorry I didn’t save myself. But who cares. What happened, happened.”
“You are right, Jemma. That’s in the past. You are my present and my future. So, will you give me a chance to prove to you how sorry I am?”
I snorted. “Yes, I already have you, idiot.”
He laughed. “Thank you. And I mean it about you seeing your son regularly.
I pinched the bridge of my nose. “If it makes you feel any better, I’ll make sure I am not alone with Jeremy when I visit Nicky. Alright? I’ll make sure my brother or someone else is in the room with us.”
He smiled. “You don’t need to do that. I need to trust you. But it does make my wolf happy.” He stood up and walked to the other side of the bed, and laid down beside me. He faced me. “I need you to stay close to the palace these next few weeks. You have to start training and learning your queen duties. I need you to focus on that. Of course, you’ll be free to call your son whenever you want. Can you do that?”
I couldn’t help but smile at him. “I get to train? With the royal guard?”
He nodded. “Yep. Maria will start working with you tomorrow. She will then appoint trusted warriors to train with you.”
My eyes widened as I clapped my hands. “I get to train with Maria? Holy s**t. That’s f*****g awesome.” I clamped my hands over my mouth. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to curse like that. It’s just Maria is a legend and getting to train with her. Holy shit.” I bounced on the bed.
He chuckled. “Glad you are excited, love. Though I suspect the granddaughter of Victoria will give her a run for her money. So is it a deal? You’ll focus on learning your duties and training for the next few weeks, and then you can go visit your son?”
I held out a hand to him. He smiled and grabbed my hand, and pulled me towards him. I fell onto his chest and took in his heavenly scent. I pulled away from him but kept my free hand on his chest. “It’s a deal.” I leaned down and kissed him. His other arm wrapped around me as the k**s deepened. Our lips hungrily devoured each other. He nibbled my bottom l*p, and I opened my mouth to allow his tongue to explore my mouth. I m****d as our tongues battled for dominance. I found myself slowly crawling onto him. He nibbled down my neck and licked the spot where he would mark me. ‘Mark him.’ Leonora growled in my head. I say, his eyes flickering from blue to black. No doubt his wolf wanted to take me, and he was fighting him.
He flipped us, so I was on my back as he hovered over me. He trailed his lips down my neck and to my collarbone while a hand massaged my breasts. I could feel myself getting wet as the k**s deepened. His e******n grew hard against my stomach as his hand traveled down my body and stopped at my panties. As much as I wanted him, I felt I was not ready to give myself to him completely yet. “Cassius,” I whispered as I grabbed his hand. “Stop. Please.”
He sighed and pulled away from me. “What’s wrong?”
“I need time before we go all the way. Please.”
With a low growl, he released me and rolled onto his back. “Fine.” He managed to say with a mixture of anger and sadness. He then rolled off the bed and headed to the bathroom. “I need another shower.” He mumbled before slamming the door.
Instantly I felt terrible. My shoulders fell as I rolled onto my side. Tears fell out of my eyes as I heard the shower turn on. ‘Join him.’ Leonora growled. I resisted and lay there until my eyes finally closed. The shower switched off, and moments later, the bed dipped. I felt strong arms wrap around me and pull me into his chest, and I didn’t resist. His hot breath on the back of my neck was comforting as I leaned into him and fell into a comfortable sleep.
