Jemma’s POV

I awoke from a heavenly sleep with a heavy feeling on my stomach. Opening my eyes, I saw Cassius with his nose on my stomach, inhaling deeply. “Cass,” I mumbled out sleepily. “Cass, what the hell are you doing?”

He kissed the bare skin of my stomach and smiled up at me. “My father told me that male werewolves can detect their offspring growing within their mates a couple of days after conception.”

I ran my hand through his hair. He looked so adorable as he spoke. “It’s only been a couple of days.”

He frowned slightly. “I know.” He rolled onto his back, and I laid my head against his chest.

“So, am I pregnant?” I asked him while tracing circles with my fingers on his smooth chest.

“I don’t know.” He mumbled sadly.

“What if we have a girl?”

He shrugged. “An heir is an heir. It’s uncommon for a girl to be born first. But it has happened. And any daughter of yours would make a fierce and strong queen.” He smiled at me.

“There is a high chance we’ll have twins. I mean, I am a twin. My mother is a twin. Her father was a twin and so on.”

“Then we’ll have two heirs.” He replied. “If they are a boy and girl, then the boy would be the first heir.”

“What if they are both boys?” I asked.

“Then we have them fight to the death.”

I rose from the bed and glared at him. He had a goofy smile on his handsome face. “Are you kidding me?”

He busts out laughing. “Yes.”

I smacked his chest hard, and he held his hand over the spot. “A*****e.”

He just laughed harder. “You should have seen your face.”

It was then I noticed he was covered in chocolate. The bed was also covered in chocolate then last night’s memories flooded back to me. “Did we seriously have s*x while eating cake?”

He nodded. “It was your idea.”

“It looks like we s**t ourselves.” I laughed as he sat up and looked himself over. “Poor omegas.”

He stood up and walked over to the bathroom. “Care to help me wash this s**t off?” He waggled his eyebrows.

I sprang to my feet and ran over to him, giggling. “You can try knocking me up again.” I jogged past him and into the bathroom.

“That’s my kind of challenge.” He followed me into the bathroom and turned on the shower.

Thirty minutes after our very long and scorching shower, we were in the closet getting dressed. “So, it’s a morning of office work and then Luna training for me.”

Cassius nodded. “Yep. Sounds about right.”

“Can I watch the alpha challenge?”

“Of course.”

I smiled probably a little too enthusiastically. “Sorry, should I sound excited about an alpha possibly losing his life?”

He shrugged. “Probably not. But you are my vicious little Queen, so I’ll have to live with it.” He smirked at me as he put on a dark grey suit with a blue shirt. He had combed his brown hair, and his blue eyes sparkled. It didn’t matter what my mate wore. He always looked hot. “Are you checking me out?”

“Uh duh.” I snorted as I put on a black pencil skirt with a purple button-up shirt. I walked out of the closet and into the bathroom to brush my hair. I decided to braid my long blond hair. Satisfied, I walked out to replace Cassius sitting on the couch waiting for me. He stood up and looked me up and down with his mouth hanging open. “Are you checking me out?” I asked him.

He pulled me into his arms. “Uh duh.” He replied while placing a soft k**s on my lips. “Let’s get going.” He clasped my hand, and we walked out of our room together. We stood in front of the elevators as Izzy and Terry walked over hand in hand.

“Good morning,” Terry greeted us. “You both look refreshed.”

I smiled at him. “I feel good this morning,” I replied while leaning against Cassius.

“You are both positively glowing.” Izzy squeezed my arm. “I can’t tell you how good it feels as his mother to see my son so happy.”

Cassius smiled at his mother. “I have never felt more alive, Mom.”

“And we have Jemma to thank,” Izzy said as the elevator door opened. “Are you ready for Luna class today, Jemma?” I made a face and received a smack on my arm. “Oh, don’t give me that look. It won’t be that bad.”

I glanced at Cassius, who had an amused smile on his face. “I can’t just watch a couple of YouTube videos, can I?”

Izzy rolled her eyes. “No.”

The elevator doors opened, and we all walked to the dining room. Upon entering, everyone stood up as usual. Terry and Izzy slipped over to their seats as Cassius, and I stood at the head of the table. “Good morning, everyone.” Cassius addressed the room. “I hope you all had a good night. Let’s make today a good one.” He looked at me. “Do you have anything to say?”

I looked out at the faces looking at me. “Um. Let’s eat breakfast.” I said nervously as I was not good at public speaking. I felt Cassius squeeze my hand.

“You heard your Queen. Let’s eat.” He sat down, and everyone else followed suit. The omegas came forth with our plates. I was pleased to see country fried steak and eggs.

“Mmm, this looks delicious.” I licked my lips as I sipped my orange juice. I dug into my food.

“So, any bets on who will win the challenge today?” Deke broke the silence.

“Anyone with half a brain knows that Alpha Thomas will win.” Maria chimed in. I noticed that Angela and Nicolai were absent.

“Alpha Alec is an arrogant prick,” I mumbled.

“You know Alpha Brown?” Deke asked.

I heard Cassius growl lowly beside me. “Uh, well, I met him last year at a young alpha’s party. He kept trying to hit on me.” I glanced at Cassius who’s eyes were flickering between black and blue. ‘Calm down, Enoch.’ I said to his wolf. He gripped my hand tightly. ‘Seriously, Enoch. It’s in the past.’ I tried soothing the angry wolf. ‘Leonora, a little help here.’ The grip on my hand loosened a little. Cassius’s eyes returned to their deep blue. I smiled at him.

“Seems Alpha Alec did more than just flirt with you.” Deke was looking at his best friend.

I pressed my lips together. “Maybe he did. But I won’t go into it right now.”

Deke exchanged a look with Cassius. “Fine, I’ll drop it.”

I looked over at Maria. “Where are Angela and Nicolai this morning?”

She sighed. “Angela took Nicolai to visit her home pack.”

“Why didn’t you go?”

Maria sniffled. “I have too much work to do here. And Angela’s mother doesn’t like me. She can’t get over the fact that her daughter is mated to another woman.”

I frowned. “Oh, she’s one of those.” I sighed. “I mean, Angela is mated to the third-highest ranking wolf in the kingdom, and she is an accomplished doctor. I would be proud if she were my daughter.”

Maria offered a small smile. “Thank you, Jemma.”

We finished breakfast then Cassius and I departed to the office. After receiving updates from MAria and Deke, we sat side by side, answering emails and video calls. The morning was mostly uneventful. Around 9:30 am it was time to head over to the arena for the challenge between Alpha Brown and Alpha Thomas.

Outside beside the training grounds was a large round arena with bleachers surrounding it. The stadium was used for challenges and disputes. The kingdom also used it for contests and sports. Today it was a fight to the death. Cassius lead me to a covered seating area setting just above the field. Two elaborate seats are positioned front and center. Cassius stood in front of the large seat as a crowd had gathered in the seats. Both alphas had brought a brigade of wolves with them consisting of betas and other warriors. As we stepped into the royal box, everyone grew quiet. I stood beside Cassius. He held up his hands. “Good morning, everyone. We are here to witness the challenge between Alpha Gerald Thomas of Red River Pack and Alpha Alec Brown of Silver Paw Pack. Will the two alphas stand before me.”

The two alphas walked over from opposite ends of the arena. They were both dressed in black shorts and no shirt. The elder alpha stood a few inches taller than the younger one. The younger alpha looked me over with an air of arrogance. He smirked at me and made a k**s at me. That elicited a growl from Cassius.

“Alpha Brown, you challenged Alpha Thomas for his pack and land, correct?”

The young alpha nodded. “Yes, King Cassius, and may I add something.” He looked at me. “If I win, may I receive a k**s from the Queen?” He licked his lips at me.

A loud growl rumbled out of Cassius, causing everyone in the arena to bow, including the arrogant alpha. I was the only one still standing. “Have a care how you speak to your Queen, young alpha. For I may jump down there and rip your head off myself.” He said darkly. “You may begin the challenge. And Alpha Brown, may the Goddess have mercy on you.”

Alpha Brown rolled his eyes as he followed Alpha Thomas to the center of the arena. Cassius and I sat down as the two alphas began to challenge each other. Alpha Brown lunged at Alpha Thomas a few times. The older alpha easily dodged the younger one. The young alpha lunged at him again and was easily flipped onto his back by the elder one. They exchanged a few blows that grew in intensity before they both shifted into their wolves. Alpha Brown’s wolf was a large chocolate brown wolf with white socks, while Alpha Thomas’s wolf was black with silver streaks through his fur. The younger alpha snarled and lunged for the older one, who quickly sidestepped him. Alpha Brown circled and tried lunging again while it seemed the older alpha was toying with him.

For ten minutes, the young alpha lunged over and over while the older one just sidestepped him and stood calmly watching the younger alpha. Cassius sighed beside me. He glanced at me, then back out to the fighting alphas. He stood up. “Alpha Thomas, quit toying with Alpha Brown and get this over with,” Cassius ordered.

The black wolf seemingly nodded at the king. Alpha Alec’s wolf growled and lunged at Alpha Gerald’s wolf, who swiped out a paw tripping the younger alpha. He hit the ground as the older wolf jumped onto his side and began biting his shoulder, causing the younger one to yelp. The young alpha tried in vain to fight off the older alpha. B***d spilled onto the ground as the fight became more vicious. Alpha Thomas finally got a grip on the younger alpha’s throat. They looked into each other’s eyes before Alpha Thomas ripped out the younger one’s throat. The brown wolf fell to the ground, dead while the victor threw back his head and howled, causing the members of Alpha Brown’s pack to submit instantly. Someone threw a pair of shorts to him as he shifted back to his human form. Cassius and I stood up.

“Congratulation, Alpha Thomas. You have a new pack.” Some of the crowd cheered. Cassius held up his hands, and everyone quieted down. “You can either take over the pack, or we’ll replace someone to appoint as Alpha. Report to me in a few days with your decision.”

Alpha Thomas bowed to Cassius. “Thank you, King Cassius.” He said as the dead alpha’s corpse was dragged out of the arena.

“Are there any other disputes?” Cassius announced. There was silence. “Well, then that is all for today. Good day.” He turned to me and clasped my hand, and then lead me away from the arena. “Are you alright?”

I looked up at him. “I’m alright, Cass.”

“Are you sure? You and Alpha Alec-“

“There was nothing there, Cass. It was just drunken s*x, alright? I mean, I feel bad for his family and pack. But I know Alpha Thomas will be good to them.”

He smiled softly and wrapped his arm around me. “Just checking.” As we passed by the training fields, young alphas were gathered, awaiting their morning training session. I scanned the crowd for one in particular when someone suddenly grabbed me from behind. I yelped as Cassius growled. The scent made me relax as I elbowed the culprit, and he g*****d. I turned to see my brother holding his side.

“Iain!” I squealed and threw my arms around my twin.

He returned the hug. “Jeez, Jemma. You didn’t have to elbow me.”

“Yes, I did.” I kissed his cheek as Iain glanced at Cassius.

A low growl rumbled out of Cassius as Iain released me and bowed his head. “You know, young alpha, you can’t just grab the Queen like that.” Cassius sounded dead serious.

“I-I’m sorry,” Iain said quietly.

“I could have you executed for that.”

Iain looked at him wide-eyed. “She’s my sister.” He sounded like he was on the verge of tears. I looked at my mate, who maintained a stoic, serious face as few of the other alphas had gathered around us.

“Yes, I realize that young alpha. She is my mate, and no other male may touch what is mine.” He growled.

‘”Cassius!” I glared at him. “You wouldn’t dare hurt my brother.”

He puckered his lips before busting out laughing. He clapped Iain on the back. “No, of course, I wouldn’t.” He kept laughing. “You should have seen your face, Iain.”

Iain narrowed his eyes at Cassius. “Hilarious, King Cassius.”

“Iain, we are brothers now. Call me Cass.”

My brother smiled as Cassius kept laughing before he started laughing. “That wasn’t funny, dude.” The other young alphas laughed.

“No, it was hilarious.”

“Did you have to scare him like that?” I folded my arms and glared at my mate.

“What kind of brother would I be if I didn’t prank him once in a while?” Cassius laughed. “Or at least I think that’s what brothers do. I’m sort of new at this. I mean, I always wanted a brother.”

Iain punched Cassius in the arm. “I always wanted a brother too. Sisters are so, so-“

“So what, Iain?” I snarled at him.

My brother’s mouth fell open. “Well, you know.”

“I have a sister too, Iain. I know what you mean.” Cassius said to him.

“Well, I have two, and one of them is Jemma,” Iain smirked at me.

I balled up my fist and punched my brother. He fell backward, and I straddled him while he blocked my fist from hitting him again. He rolled us over till he was the one on top. We began wailing on each other, not caring who watched. I heard Cassius saying something to someone. Eventually, I had my brother face down while I was on his back with my arm around his neck.

“Uncle, uncle.” Iain cried.

I laughed and pushed his head into the dirt and looked up at Cassius, who was standing over us with his arms folded.

“Now, I understand why your father has white hair.” He held his hand to me and helped me to my feet.

My nice clothes were now dirty and torn with bloodstains on them. Iain gingerly got to his feet. “Now, what was that you were saying about sisters, Iain?” I smirked at him.

He rolled his eyes. “I have to get to training.” He smiled and kissed my cheek. “I’ve missed you, Jem.”

“You can have lunch with us, Iain.” Cassius invited my brother.

My brother nodded. “Thank you, King- I mean Cass.” He laughed. “That’s going to get some getting used to. See you later.” He followed the other young alphas to the training grounds.

Cassius linked his arm with mine. “Let’s get back to the office. I have a few calls to make. I mean we. We have a few calls to make.” He then leads me back to the palace.
