The Alpha King's Rebellious Queen
The Alpha King’s Rebellious Queen Chapter 3

Three Weeks Later

I woke up feeling sore and nauseous. My stomach screamed as I rushed into my bathroom and emptied my stomach. I g*****d as I retched over and over until nothing was coming out. I sat on the cold tile for a few moments. Then I got up to my feet shakily and walked over to my sink. I rinsed my mouth out and then brushed my teeth. I had been feeling sick for the last couple of days. Also, I felt more tired than usual. I had kept to my routine. I think it was because I had just begun shifting and assumed that took more out of me until I got used to it. I sighed as I stepped into the shower.

It had been three weeks since my eighteenth birthday. I smiled as I remembered my first time with Jeremy. I hadn’t seen him much after that night. He and my brother Iain had gone to the kingdom for Alpha and Beta training. He made sure to call and text me every day, but I sure missed him.

After my shower, I dressed in short athletic shorts and a sports bra and pulled my hair into a messy ponytail. I slipped on my sneakers and then walked downstairs to breakfast. I greeted my sister Tiffany. I sat beside my sister as the omegas brought out breakfast. “Morning Tiff.”

My sister frowned as she looked at me. “Are you alright, Jem?”

I shrugged. I supposed I looked more pale than usual. “I’m fine.” I looked down at the food in front of me. The site of bacon and scrambled eggs typically made me drool, but right now, all I felt was nausea. Feeling bile rising, I ran out of the dining room, nearly colliding with my parents.

“Jemma!” My mother called to me.

I ignored her as I reached one of the public bathrooms. I retched bile into the toilet. I g*****d as my ribs ached. I sighed and sat on the ground in front of the toilet. I looked up at the door as my mother stood there. “I think I ate something bad last night.”

My mother tilted her head. “Want me to call the doctor?”

I shook my head. “It’ll pass.” I stood up and turned on the sink. My mother was still in the doorway. “Mom, I’m fine.”

She snorted before leaving. I rinsed my mouth and then returned to the dining room. I felt my parent’s and sister’s eyes on me. I sat down quietly and grabbed a piece of toast. I nibbled on it.

“Jemma, are you alright?” My father asked

I nodded. “I’m fine, Daddy.”

“You don’t look fine.” He replied as he put food into his mouth. He glanced at my mother. “Does she look fine to you, Melinda?”

“She said she is okay, Phil.”

“Still, I should call Dr. Mitchell.”

I rolled my eyes. “Dad! I said I am fine.”

“I’m just looking out for you, Jemma.”

“I know, Daddy.” I ate a forkful of eggs and felt fine. “See, it’s staying down.”

He sighed and glanced at my mother. “Okay, Jemma.”

I sipped some orange juice. Food was feeling alright in my stomach for now.

“Oh, Iain and Jeremy are coming home today. But only for a couple of days.”

I smiled widely. I missed my brother. I also mostly missed Jeremy. We had begun a relationship in secret since my birthday. We couldn’t let others know because my father was not keen on his daughters dating someone who wasn’t their mate. “When will they be here?” I asked excitedly.

“In a couple of hours.” My father replied. “Terry says they impress all of their trainers, so they are getting a few days off.” He beamed. I laughed as he called the king such an informal name. They were like brothers, so it only made sense. “Of course, I knew my son would excel in royal training.”

I rolled my eyes. My father was a softie when it came to his children. He thought we were all the best at everything we did. I was a little jealous that Iain got to train with the royal guard. That was my dream. Instead, my mother was insisting I take Luna lessons with Tiffany. She said it was preparing me for my mate. She was adamant that I would be a mate to an alpha, and I needed to know everything I could to be a good Luna. She and my father didn’t know that I had already decided that Jeremy was my mate.

I was going to choose my mate. Not let some silly mate pull trick me into loving someone. I was going to replace my love, and I loved Jeremy. I knew he would allow me to continue training. Some possessive alpha would force me into being a broodmare that decorated the packhouse and arranged flowers. Now excited at the prospect of seeing Jeremy, I finished my food and jumped up from the table. “Bye, Daddy. Bye, Mom. I have to get to training.”

“Jemma, you have Luna training later.” My mother called after me.

“Mom!” I g*****d.

“Quit whining, Jemma.” My mother growled. “You need to learn to be a good Luna for your future mate.”

I rolled my eyes and looked at my father. “Dad?”

He sighed. “You heard your mother, Jemma. There has to be more to your life than warrior training. Not all Alphas are going to want warrior females as their mates.”

I stomped my foot. “I don’t want some arrogant, possessive a*****e alpha mate.”

“Language Jemma Skye!” My mother scolded me.

“We aren’t all assholes, Jemma.” My father added.

I sighed. “I know, Daddy. Most alphas aren’t like you or King Terrance. But most of them are a*s- jerks.”

He folded his arms. “How would you know? You don’t know that many alphas.”

“That’s what Iain tells me.” My brother complained about the other future alphas. They were constantly bragging about their skills and dreams to take over smaller packs. They were often silenced when Iain kicked their asses on the training field. My brother took his cues from our father on how an alpha should act.

“Still, don’t you want to present yourself nicely for your future mate?” My father asked.

“I am choosing my mate.” I declared.

He lifted an eyebrow. “Either way. Whether you choose them or not, they are not going to want some unruly she-wolf.”

I frowned at my father. “Daddy,” He held up his hands and cut me off.

“You will go to Luna training, and that is final.” He spoke in his alpha tone.

I had no choice but to obey. “Fine,” I growled.

“After warrior training, of course.” He smiled at me, eliciting a glare from my mother.

“Thank you, Daddy.” I ran over and kissed his cheek. “I love you, Daddy.”

“Be at Luna training at one pm sharp.” My mother ordered me.

“Yes, Mom.” I kissed her cheek before running out of the dining room.

Once on the training field, I greeted the warriors and began my stretches. “Morning Jem.” Lewis greeted me. He grinned widely at me.

“Morning, Lew. How are you this morning?”

He cracked his knuckles. “Ready to kick your a*s finally.” He grinned. Shorter than me by a few inches. He made up for it with bulk. He had short brown hair and brown eyes.

“You say that every morning, Lew.” I laughed.

“Good morning Jemma.” I was greeted by the head trainer Ronald. He had once served in the royal guard alongside my father. His training techniques were the envy of the kingdom. “Are you going to focus this morning? You have been off your game the last couple of days.”

“Yes, Ronald, sir.”

“Good. Now let’s get started.” He then bellowed orders to the gathered warriors.

Twenty minutes later, I laid on my back. Lewis had managed to flip me. He had never done that before. My body ached as I panted. I felt more tired than usual. “Time out,” I said. I got to my feet slowly. I took some wobbly steps towards the bleachers and sat down in a heap. Lewis handed me a bottle of water.

“Are you alright, Jem?” He sat beside me. “I have never been able to beat you that easily before.”

I shook my head. “I’m alright. I’m just a little under the weather this morning. I think I ate something bad last night.”

He nodded as the trainer walked towards us. “Jemma, are you focusing this morning?”

“Yes, Ron, sir,” I said to him.

“Then why was Lewis able to beat you?”

I shrugged. “Maybe Lewis is just getting better,” I smirked at my friend.

“Jemma, this isn’t like you.” He sighed. “Maybe you should go see the doctor. You shouldn’t be getting this tired so easily.”

I finished off the water and stood up. “I am alright, Ron. I just need a little break.”

The trainer pressed his lips together. “Okay, five minutes.” He ordered before walking away. “Lewis!”

Lewis shot me a sad look before following the trainer. Five minutes later, I rejoined training. I opted to just spar with a dummy rather than a partner. I was starting to feel dizzy when someone tapped my shoulder. I swung around and almost punched my brother in the face. He easily dodged me. I smiled. “Iain!” I hugged my twin.

“Whoa, there, sis. You almost clocked me.” He said into my ear.

I noticed Jeremy standing behind him. I smiled sweetly at my boyfriend. Iain released me, and I was swept into a friendly hug by Jeremy. “I missed you.” He whispered into my ear before releasing me.

“How was royal training?” I asked.

“It was boring,” Iain smirked.

I punched his arm. “Shut up. You are lying.”

He laughed. “Of course, I am. It was f*****g awesome.”

I frowned. “I am so jealous of you.”

“I got to train with Prince Cassius.”

My eyes widened. Crown Prince Cassius was a legend on the battlefield. I had heard stories of him ripping rogues and vampires to pieces. I also heard he was the most handsome werewolf in the kingdom. Perfection was the only way to describe him. But to me, the most handsome werewolf in the kingdom was right in front of me.

“Iain! Jeremy!” Trainer Ron called to them. “Just because you got back from royal training doesn’t mean you can neglect training here.”

“Coming, Ron,” Iain said to him before running towards the field. Ever the good soldier, my brother.

“I’ll be right there, Ron,” Jeremy called to the trainer. “I have to use to little boy’s room.”

“Hurry up.” Ron barked before turning his back to us.

Jeremy grabbed my hand and pulled me away from the training field. Once out of sight of the others, he pushed me into the wall and planted a fierce k**s on me. “Oh gods Jem, I missed you.”

I gasped against his frantic lips. “I missed you too.”

Our k**s deepened. I felt my need for him growing as his e******n pressed against me.

“JEMMA!” Trainer Ron screamed from the field.

I sighed against his lips. “I better get back to training.”

Jeremy g*****d and nodded.

“We’ll continue this later in my room.” I grinned at him.

“We better.” He breathed into my ear. Then with a final k**s, we parted, and he ran into the bathroom, no doubt to take care of himself.

I sighed and ran back to the training field. Ronald was glaring at me with his arms folded and tapping his foot. “Sorry, Ron.”

“Are you okay to continue now?”

I nodded. “Yes, sir.” I walked back to the field and began sparring with Lewis again. A few minutes later, Jeremy took over. We exchanged blow after blow. I admit he had grown in skill in the short three weeks he had been away. He was hard for me to beat.

“Damn, Jem.” He cursed as I fell to the ground again. He reached a hand down and pulled me to my feet.

I stood there, dizzy and panting. I was not on my game today. “You have sure gotten a lot stronger,” I remarked.

He held my shoulders and looked me over. “You are not yourself today.” He frowned.

“I’m fine, Jerm.” I held up my hands in a stance to get ready to continue sparring, but I wobbled. The room spun as I felt nauseous and tired. I stumbled forward, and Jeremy caught me in his strong arms.

“You need to rest, Jem.” He said to me.

“No, just a few more minutes,” I demanded. I pushed him away and attempted to punch him.

He dodged me, and I stumbled forward and collapsed onto the ground. “Jemma!” I heard him shout. Footsteps ran towards us.

“What’s wrong, Jemma?” I heard my brother standing over me.

I got up again. I was surrounded by my brother, Jeremy, and other concerned warriors. The trainer had been watching me. “Maybe take the rest of the day off, Jemma,” Ron said to me.

I pushed past them. “No! I told you I am fine.” I walked towards one of the dummies. “Just leave me alone.” I barked at the males. ‘You need to rest, Jemma.’ Leonora demanded in my head.

‘I’m fine.’ I growled at my wolf. I began to fight with the dummy ignoring the protests from the males. Soon I felt dizzy again as I saw stars. I stopped punching and doubled over with nausea before collapsing to the ground.

“JEMMA!” I heard my brother yell right before I blacked out.
