The Alpha King's Rebellious Queen -
The Alpha King’s Rebellious Queen Chapter 33
Cassius’s POV
After relaying orders to Bruce, my driver, Sam, and his squad, I slid into a black SUV with Maria and two other warriors. There were three more SUVs of warriors behind us. We were going to Red River Pack to assist Deke and the warriors already present in quelling tensions with resistant members of the now-defunct Silver Paw pack. Deke reported that the deceased alpha’s brother was now claiming he was the rightful alpha of Silver Paw and did not want his pack dissolved. The alpha of Red River had won claim on Silver Paw fair and square.
I was annoyed I had to go there on a Sunday. But as King, my work is seven days a week. Twenty-four hours a day, no matter what.
“I’m sorry for earlier.” Maria piped in suddenly.
My eye glanced her way. “Sorry for what, exactly?” My voice conveyed more annoyance than I meant.
“For saying Jemma had nice tits.” She stated plainly. The warriors up front looked back at us.
I growled lowly at them. “Um, I guess it’s alright.”
“I shouldn’t be looking at other women’s t**s. Angela would be mad at that.”
A snort escaped my nose. “You are right. You shouldn’t be checking out someone else’s mate. Especially when that mate is mine!”
She just laughed. “Yes, whatever you say, jealous baffoon.”
I rolled my eyes as she used the name Jemma had called me. “I am not a jealous baffoon.”
The driver snickered and glanced at the warrior sitting next to him. “Do you have something to say, Lawerence?” I asked him the tan hued warrior with light brown hair.
He shook his head frantically. “No, sir.”
“Sounded like you have something to say.”
“Sorry, I just thought Delta Hall, calling you a jealous baffoon was funny.” He confessed. “It sounds like something my mate would call me.”
I laughed. “It was Jemma that called me that. Maria was just repeating it.”
“Well, I’d be a bit upset if someone else was looking at my mate’s breasts. Even if that someone is another female.”
Maria snorted. “Whatever, Larry. Focus on the road.”
“Oh, don’t get all butt hurt, Maria.” I mocked her. “You brought it up in the first place.”
She folded her arms. “I was just trying to apologize, and here you are mocking me, you big oaf.”
“Big oaf, am I?” I snorted. “I am your king. You will not use such insults.”
Her eyes rolled. “Whatever, you big oaf.” She and the other two laughed.
“You two replace this funny, too?”
“Yes, your majesty,” Lawerence replied with a snort.
I folded my arms as MAria’s phone rang. “I can have your head for that.”
Lawrence shrugged. “It was worth the risk, sir.”
“You are lucky I like you,” I smirked at him.
“I’m flattered.” He snickered.
The warrior sitting in the passenger seat looked back at me. “You like me too, don’t you, King Cassius?”
“Quit trying to suck up Willis,” Lawerence said.
Maria’s conversation sounded serious, and I ignored the two upfront. “Okay, we are on our way Deke. Hold tight.” She hung up the phone. “The Silver Paw warriors have attacked Red River and our warriors. They have more rogues with them.”
“Shit.” I cursed. “Do those fools have a death wish?” I looked at Lawerence. “Step on it.” He nodded as I felt the SUV accelerate.
‘We need to hurry up and get to Red River.’ I mind linked the warriors in the vehicles behind us. It took almost an hour to finally reach Red River, and Deke had called back a few times to update us on the fight. While our side was holding their own, the warriors from Silver Paw were strong and not making it easy. The SUVs slowed as we approached Red River’s borders. None of their warriors were there to greet us. I knew it wasn’t a good sign. “Keep going, Lawerence,” I ordered him.
He stepped on the accelerator. I could hear the howls as we went deeper into the territory. I saw smoke rising from different places. My heart raced as we neared the packhouse and could see warriors from both sides fighting to the death. “Stop here,” I growled out loud and through the mind link.
I opened the door and ran towards the fighting. The stench of rogues reached my nostrils, making me ill. I was on a slight hill that overlooked the clearing where most of the battle was taking place. I could see my warriors engaged with rogues. There were piles of dead littering the ground. Taking a deep breath, I issued a roar like growl in my King alpha tone. Most of the fighting stopped as almost everyone, even the Silver Paw warriors and some rogues, dropped to their knees. The rogues who didn’t kneel were momentarily stunned. I pointed to the rogues. “Kill them,” I ordered the warriors who had just arrived with me. I ran with them and dispatched a couple of rogues. I ran to my Beta Deke and Alpha Thomas, who were still on their knees. “Deke, get off your damn knees.”
My beta rose to his feet. “Sorry, you know, even I can’t resist your tone.”
“Royal Warriors and Red River warriors rise,” I ordered. The Silver Paw members remained kneeling. I pointed to them. “Arrest them.” I turned to Alpha Thomas, who was standing beside Deke. “Which one is claiming to be alpha of this ragtag group.”
Alpha Thomas pointed to a young man who looked similar to Alpha Brown. “That its Tyler Brown. He is Alec’s younger brother.”
“Bring him forward,” I ordered. The young wannabe alpha growled and struggled as my warriors dragged him towards me.
“This is my f*****g pack.” He growled as he was thrown at my feet by my warriors.
“Care to repeat that,” I said to him.
He stood up and looked me in the eyes. “I am the rightful alpha of Silver Paw upon my brother’s death.” I had to admit the kid had guts to stand up and face me.
I folded my arms as I watched my warriors kill the remaining rogues. The rest of the rogues were dead or severely injured. The Silver Paw members were kneeling in the grass while surrounded by my warriors. “Alpha Thomas here won the pack fair and square when he killed your brother.”
Tyler growled. “He had no right.”
“No, he had a right. I was there when your i***t brother challenged him. I was also there when Alpha Thomas won the challenge. It was your brother who chose death. What Alpha Thomas did with the pack was his choice.”
“But I was willing to take over as Alpha and keep Silver Paw intact, but this old fool wanted to break us up.”
Alpha Thomas growled. “You are even less fit to be an alpha than your brother was. I did what was best for both packs.”
“You don’t know nothing about me, old man.” The youngster snarled.
“Enough!” I barked, causing Tyler to bow his head. “Tyler Brown, you are under arrest along with the traitors from Silver Paw.” I nodded at Maria, who took charge of taking the Silver Paw members into custody. I faced Deke. “Did you figure out why they were able to recruit so many rogues so fast?” I heard growls from Tyler as I looked over. He was struggling against the warriors. “You’ll just make it worse if you keep struggling, Mr. Brown.”
“f**k you.” He growled at me.
I charged towards him and grabbed his chin as he was being held by three of my warriors. “Care to repeat that?” I hissed in his face.
He spat in my face. “I, Tyler Brown, challenge Alpha Gerald Thomas for Silver Paw pack.”
I laughed as I wiped his saliva off of my face. “You can’t challenge for something that no longer exists.”
“Fine, I challenge you.”
My warriors all laughed at the foolishness of the whelp. “Really? Are you sure about that?”
“I, Alpha Tyler Brown, challenge you, King Cassius, for the kingdom.” His voice came out shaky. He wasn’t sure of himself, I could tell. I almost pitied the kid. He had pretty much lost everything.
I rolled my eyes. “Okay. Let’s go.” I nodded at the warriors holding him. “Release him.” Despite wearing a three piece suit, I got into a fighting stance as my warriors released my challenger and pushed him towards me. The kid immediately charged me with a growl, and I sidestepped him. He stumbled forward and then turned. He lunged for me, and I let him land a few punches. Being of alpha b***d, he was strong, but the bruises from the punches healed quickly. “Do you really want to die right now, Tyler?” I punched him hard enough that he flew back a few feet and landed on his a*s. “You still have a chance to surrender.
“f**k you. I would rather die than surrender. I’ll win and become king then claim that b***h of yours as my Queen.” He sprang to his feet and rushed me. I grabbed him and held him in a headlock.
“One more chance, Tyler.” He had just insulted Jemma, but I was somehow calm. I wanted the kid to surrender, so I didn’t have to kill him, but he wasn’t willing to.
He snarled and fought as I held him. “I WILL WIN!” He screamed. “I cannot wait to shove my c**k in your queen’s-” With an irritated sigh, I easily tore his head from his sorry body.
I held up his severed head in my hand and looked at his pack members. “Is there anyone that would like to challenge me?” Their eyes were wide as they looked at the head of their leader in my hand. No one spoke. I dropped the head next to Tyler’s body. “s**t, I got b***d all over my favorite suit,” I said with disgust. “Maria, take the rest of the pack back to the palace and put them with the others.” We had about two dozen other members of Silver Paw who had refused to submit to Alpha Thomas. Now there were twenty more to add. “Burn the corpses and help Alpha Thomas’s pack clean up,” I said to my head warrior Ward who was standing beside Maria. He nodded to me before barking orders to the warriors. I walked over to Alpha Thomas. Deke was next to him.
“Such a shame. John Brown was a good alpha. He would be so disappointed in how his sons turned out,” Alpha Thomas tsked. He looked me up and down. “I can have my omegas clean your suit if you like. Before it stains.”
I sighed. “That would be good, thank you, Alpha.”
“I’ll let you change in my room and bring you some clean clothes and have your suit cleaned.”
“Then I have information from my investigation of Silver Paw on how they recruited so many rogues.” Deke cut in.
I nodded. “Okay, meet me in Alpha Thomas’s office. I’ll be there briefly after I change my clothes.” The alpha then leads me into his packhouse. His pack members bowed as we headed to his room. The packhouse was significantly smaller than most I had seen, still considered a mansion by most housing standards.
“The rest of my pack live in their own houses. Only I and my beta’s family live here,” Alpha Thomas explained. We reached the third floor, and he led me down a long hall, opened a door, and led me into his room. It was a nice sized room with a king bed and sitting area. It was clear there hadn’t been a female touch for years, though. “Wait here.” He said before disappearing into his closet. A moment later, he walked out with clothes in his hands and set them on a couch. “I’ll be in my office waiting with your beta. If you want to take a shower, you may. Just set your suit on the couch, and I’ll have my omegas pick it up when you are done.”
“Thank you, Gerald,” I said to him as he walked out of the room. Sighing, I started changing out of my suit. I decided I would shower even though it was a bit awkward to use another man’s shower. I just stunk of b***d and c*****e. After the shower, I put on the borrowed t-shirt and sweatpants. They were tights as Alpha Thomas was a bit smaller than me. But they weren’t too tight not to work. I headed down the hall and entered the office. The alpha and Deke were laughing about something as I walked in. I acknowledged his Beta as I sat down in a chair in front of the desk.
“Better?” Alpha Thomas smiled as I sat down.
I shrugged. “Yes, thank you, Alpha.” I turned to Deke. “So, tell me your replaceings, Deke.”
My beta picked up a file that had been sitting on the Alpha’s desk and handed it to me. I opened it as he began to talk. “Apparently, the boy’s father, Alpha John Brown, had a run in with someone claiming to be the Rogue King. They made a deal in exchange for a significant amount of money the so-called King would provide armies of rogues at a moment’s notice. I couldn’t replace anything that explained why Alpha John Brown made the deal, and his beta is not among the pack members.”
“That’s because he is dead.” Alpha Thomas added.
“Didn’t Alpha Alec have a beta?” I asked.
He nodded.
“Is he among the group we just took into custody?” I asked him.
Shaking his head, he leaned forward. “No, he was one of the ones that submitted and is now part of this pack.”
“Call him in.”
The alpha nodded his head, and his eyes glazed over for a second. “He’ll be here shortly. He was out fighting the rogues with my warriors.”
As we sat waiting for the former beta, my phone rang. I sighed as it was from another alpha in the kingdom. “Excuse me.” I stood up and walked to another part of the large office. “Hello, This is King Cassius.”
“Your majesty,” Came the somewhat familiar voice. “I am Alpha Blake Reynolds of Rocky Mountain Pack, and I have an important matter to discuss with you.” His voice made it clear he was serious.
“Explain.”
“It seems my son and heir, Casper, has found his mate,” The Alpha began. “His mate is your sister Princess Ainsley.”
My jaw dropped open. “Wow, good for my sister.”
I heard him take a deep breath. “Yes, it seems Casper was in a restaurant with some friends of his at the same time as your mate and sister. Your mate interfered and had him taken into custody and locked up at the palace.”
“I can’t believe Jemma would do that, Alpha Reynolds. I’m sure she had a good reason.”
“She was protecting a vampire who, according to my son, was being inappropriate with your sister. My son was afraid the vampire was harming Princess Ainsley and tried protecting her, at which time the Queen,” He said Queen with a hint of disdain, “Had him arrested.”
I took note of his attitude when he mentioned Jemma. “I’m sorry that happened, Alpha. She knows how much I respect the Goddess’s gift to us. As I said, she must have had a good reason to do what she did.”
“If I may be frank, your majesty. I have heard that your mate is quite rough around the edges. The rumors I heard were she slept around quite a lot and has a child out of the mate bond. So, excuse me if I don’t have any respect for her actions. I demand you rectify it immediately so my son can be with his future Luna.”
I growled. “First of all, Alpha, those rumors you have heard are just that, rumors.”
“So she doesn’t have a child out of the mate bond?”
“Well, that much is true, yes. And second, Jemma is a bit rough around the edges, but she is my mate and your Queen. You will respect her as such. She is also smart enough to know not to interfere with the mate bond unless there was a good reason. And third, making demands of me will get you nowhere. I am still your king, and you will respect that.” I growled as a young man walked into the office. His eyes widened as he spied me. He was quietly urged to take a seat by Alpha Thomas. “Come to the palace tomorrow, and my parents and I will discuss the matter with you. Be there nine am sharp.”
“Yes, your majesty. My mate and I will be there. My son had better be out of custody by then. He has a right to his mate.” He said with attitude before hanging up.
I pocketed my phone and looked at the four men in the room. Deke had a raised eyebrow. “What did Jemma do now, and why does it involve Ainsley?”
With a sigh, I returned to my seat. “It seems my sister found her mate, today and then Jemma had him locked up.”
Deke looked like he was about to laugh. “Wow. Our little Ainsley found her mate.” He mock cried.
“And then Jemma locked him up,” I mumbled with irritation. I wanted to have faith in my mate to do the right thing.
“I’m sure she had a good reason for it. Jemma doesn’t seem the type just to lock up wolves for no reason.”
Alpha Thomas and the others were looking at us. I shook my head to focus on the current task at hand. My eyes traveled to the young man who had just walked in. “You were Alpha Alec Brown’s beta?”
The young brown-haired wolf nodded. “Yes, your majesty. I am Grey.”
“And you are currently a member of Red River Pack.”
“I agreed to become a warrior for Alpha Gerald.”
I gave a glance to Alpha Thomas. “This is true?”
The alpha nodded his head. “Yes. He has so far proven himself competent as a warrior.”
“Are you aware of a deal the previous alpha made with some sort of rogue king to acquire an army of rogues in exchange for money?”
The young former beta looked confused. “I knew about the rogues, your majesty. I don’t know how or why we acquired them. I don’t think my father, the previous beta knew why. Alpha John was very closed off even to his sons. As far as I knew, Alpha Alec knew nothing, but then he kept a lot from me.” He explained.
“Did you ever see this so-called king?” I asked him.
“Yes, I believe so. A man in a black hooded cape would come to the packhouse about once a month, but it was always at night, and I never saw his face. He didn’t smell like a wolf, however. Not even a rogue wolf.”
I glanced at Deke. “Did you replace anything about this rogue king in the Silver Paw packhouse?”
“No, I didn’t, Cass. Do you want me to take a team and go back to see if perhaps we missed something?”
“Yes, check for secret rooms or compartments.”
“I would suggest you look in the dungeon. There was a secret room down there.” Grey suggested to Deke. “I can show you where it is. I don’t remember how to get in. But I saw Alpha John and my father go in there. I’m not entirely sure what’s in it as my father wouldn’t tell me, and I don’t know if Alec ever went in.”
“Okay, Grey, you will go with my beta and assist in the investigation.”
He smiled at that. “Okay, whatever I can do to help.”
There was a knock on the office door. The Red River Beta answered it and let Maria in. “Cass, we have secured the rest of the Silver Paw rebels. What would you like us to do with them?” She glanced between myself and Alpha Thomas.
“Like I told the King yesterday, execute them for all I care. They put my pack in danger.”
Grey stood up. “Your majesty, please don’t. A lot of them were compelled by Alpha Alec to follow his orders no matter what. Then after his death, Tyler threatened the lives of their families if they surrendered to Red River.”
“How did they not get to you?”
“I have no one to threaten, your majesty.” The young former beta replied sadly. “But most of them are good men.”
I took a deep breath and looked at my delta. “Interrogate them. Find out what you can about a rogue king and anything about a deal between him and the previous alphas. Then evaluate them and see if they are safe to be placed in other packs. See if what young Grey said was true about the threats.”
“I’ll get started on that right away, Cass.” She said and then left the room.
I turned to Alpha Thomas. “Have you had any problems with the Silver Paw members who did submit to you?”
He shook his head. “No, sir. They have all integrated into my pack with no issues. Including Grey here.”
“So, hopefully, there won’t be further problems from them. But I do suspect the problems with the rogues and this king are just beginning. I will have some of my men stay behind to assist you until we can get to the bottom of this rogue problem.”
“Thank you, your majesty. I appreciate the help. My warriors have taken quite a hit from all of the fighting the past few days. Now, would you like to have lunch while you wait for your suit to be cleaned?”
“Yes, that would be nice, Gerald. I haven’t eaten all day.” On cue, my stomach rumbled. It had already been a long day, and it was only noon. We all stood and started to head out of the office. I pulled my phone from my pocket. “I just need to make a quick call.”
“We’ll meet you in the dining room.” The alpha, his beta, and young Grey left the office. I remained with Deke.
I dialed the number I was calling, and it rang a couple of times before Sam answered it. “Your majesty?”
“Sam, can you tell me about the earlier incident where my queen had my sister’s newly found mate taken into custody.”
The guard cleared his throat. “Ainsley’s mate caused a scene in the restaurant where the girls were dining. The Queen asked us to escort him back to the palace and keep an eye on him.”
“His father told me that he was locked up.”
“The Queen told us only to lock him up if he remained combative, sire. He went peacefully and was allowed to return to his dorm room.”
“Tell me what exactly happened.”
Sam took a deep breath. “The ladies were dining and I saw your sister excuse herself to the ladies’ room. We heard her screaming. The Queen and I, with the other guards, rushed to her location. A male wolf had her pinned to the wall while holding a vampire by the neck.”
“So, there was a vampire involved.”
“Yes, sir. But I do not believe he was a threat to your sister. When Queen Jemma called your sister’s name, her mate was distracted, and she ran behind the Queen and appeared frightened. Queen Jemma ordered the mate to release the vampire, who then was embraced by your sister.”
“Excuse me?”
The guard paused a second. “He and your sister were in an embrace, sire. And it appeared they were quite familiar with each other. Your sister was not the least bit interested in her mate. She seemed to be trying to get away from him. If I am not mistaken, the mate, a young alpha, kept trying to attack the vampire. I called in more men while the others restrained the young alpha.” The guard explained. “The Queen’s actions were justified, sire. Your sister appeared shaken by the incident.”
“Okay, I will address this matter with the Queen and my sister later. Thank you, Sam. Where are you now?”
“We just arrived at the mall,” Sam replied.
“Call me right away if anything else occurs with my Queen and sister.”
“Yes, your majesty,” Sam said before hanging up.
I took a deep breath and looked at Deke. “I’m starving,” I mumbled before walking out of the alpha’s office. He went straight away to the dining room. The smell of food calmed me a little. I sat down beside Alpha Thomas. Food was immediately brought out. I drooled over the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. “This looks divine, Gerald.”
“Oh, it’s more than divine. It’s the best fried chicken you’ll ever have.” The alpha grinned as I dug into the food.
“You are not kidding.” I nearly orgasmed at the taste of the chicken. “Whatever you are paying your cook. Pay them more.”
The alpha laughed. “Trust me. He gets paid well, sire. So the princess found her mate, and then the Queen locked him up.” He laughed again.
“He wasn’t locked up according to my guard. He was escorted back to the palace.”
“Oh, I see. I hear your Queen is quite the pistol.” He remarked.
I snorted. “Well, I expected the granddaughter of the Hand to be just that.”
The alpha’s eyes widened. “Is she a white wolf-like Victoria was?”
I nodded. “Yep.”
“Damn, no wonder. I knew she was Alpha MacKenzie’s daughter, but I didn’t realize she was a white wolf.”
“That she is. She is a bit rough around the edges and isn’t what most people would see as queen material. But trust me, she is queen material.”
“If anyone can tame her, I know you can.”
I looked at the alpha. “I do not intend to tame her, Gerald. No, I’m afraid any attempt to try and change her would be met with resistance. I replace it best to let her be herself. She is quite intelligent and adaptable. My mother has been quite good at teaching her about how to be a queen.”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to speak out of line,” The alpha hung his head.
I finished my food. “It’s quite alright, alpha,” I said as my phone rang again. It was Sam calling. I sensed I wouldn’t like what I was about to hear. “Sam?”
“I am calling to report that the Queen was just in a fight.”
