The Alpha King's Rebellious Queen
The Alpha King’s Rebellious Queen Chapter 34

Cassius’s POV

“I am calling to report that the Queen was just in a fight.” My guard Sam just informed me.

“WHAT?!” I exploded and stood up suddenly, sending the chair I was sitting in flying backward. Everyone in the room looked at me, alarmed. “What the f**k happened, Samuel? Is she alright?”

I swear I sensed the guard trembling on the other side. Sam was not one to tremble. “S-sire, the Queen is fine, physically. The other young lady, not so much. She is being transported to the hospital.”

My fists clenched as I leaned against a wall. “So Jemma is fine?”

“Yes, sir. The Queen was speaking to a young male, which she appeared to be familiar with when another female walked over and started to antagonize the Queen.” Sam explained.

“Antagonize how?”

The guard cleared his throat and took a deep breath. “I believe the Queen had a prior relationship with the male. I wasn’t trying to eavesdrop too much. But she seemed jealous of the other female for being with the male.”

My b***d boiled as Sam spoke. Jemma was jealous a female was with one of her former lovers. Why did she even care? “What exactly lead up to Jemma being in a fight?” I kept flexing my fists. I needed to hit something but refrained out of respect for Alpha Thomas.

“The other female started to insult the Queen. I did not hear the exact words. The next thing I knew, Queen Jemma was on top of the female, punching her. Two of the other guards and I pulled the Queen off the female. Then the Queen stormed off.”

My hands were trembling from anger. My mate had gotten into a fight at the mall over a male. Another f*****g male. What the hell was she thinking? “Where are you now, Samuel?” I hissed out.

“We are almost back at the palace, sire.”

“Good, make sure Jemma and my sister go nowhere else today,” I ordered.

“I believe they are done for the day anyways. But I will make sure they don’t leave.” I heard car doors opening and closing in the background.

“Thank you, Sam. Sorry about the trouble.”

He chuckled dryly. “Trouble I can live with, your majesty.”

I hung up the phone and almost threw it across the room. I looked over at Deke and the others. “Deke, finish up here and then head back to Silver Paw. I’m going to run home.”

Deke tilted his head. “Run home? ALone?”

A growl rumbled out of me, and Deke pursed his lips as I gave him the ‘shut the f**k up and do as I tell you’ look. He just nodded. ” Be careful, Cass.”

I took a deep breath. “Thank you for your hospitality, Alpha Thomas. Beta Shade will take it from here. I need to leave now before I destroy your dining room.” I didn’t give him a chance to reply before I tore out of the dining room and out the front door. I stripped off the clothes I was wearing, shifted into my wolf, and immediately sprinted into the woods behind the packhouse. Enoch stayed mostly quiet as I ran, letting the cool air calm my anger.

‘What is wrong with her, Enoch?’ I asked my wolf. ‘Why would she care if a former lover is with another female?’

‘It makes me angry too, Cassius.’ Enoch growled. ‘I’m trying to contact Leonora to see what she has to say.’

‘You do that.’ I growled as we ran. The scenery blurred as we were at top speed. Soon tired from running mindlessly to clear my mind, I collapsed in a heap by a stream. I lapped up some of the cool water and lay down with my head resting on my paws. My heart hurt. Life with my mate was like a roller coaster. So many highs and thrills with huge drops. ‘She loves you, Cassius.’ Enoch tried to assure me.

‘Sure, she loves me while thinking of other men.’ Maybe Phil was right. I should have rejected her and saved myself a world of trouble. Deep down, I knew I couldn’t have rejected her. It would kill me to reject her. The moment I knew for sure she was my mate, I was already in love. I was determined to face the uphill battle to earn her love and trust. But was I wrong to have pursued her? ‘Oh Goddess, I know you put us together for a reason. But why? I love her so much. But even I am having doubts about us.’

The crescent moon above us seemed to shine brighter for a moment as a cool breeze whipped around us, whisking leaves and sticks into the air. ‘You are strong, Cassius. Jemma is strong. You both need each other.’ I heard a female voice whisper as the breeze swirled around me. ‘Have faith in my wisdom,’ The voice said as the breeze died.

Taking a deep breath, I stood up on my four paws and took off running again. I was almost back to the royal territory. The sun was slowly setting as I stood on a hill overlooking my palace. The white marble shined like a beacon in the fading light. The place I had called home my entire life. I needed to speak with my mate. ‘Where is she, Enoch?’ I asked my wolf.

‘Lying in your bed.’ He replied.

‘Let’s go home then,’ I said as I took off towards the palace. People parted as I ran past them, bowing their heads. Even in wolf form, they knew who I was. My black wolf was much bigger than even most alpha wolves, and the aura of power just rolled off of Enoch. I stopped at the main entrance as a guard held the door open for me. ‘Could you get me some clothes, please?’ I mind linked him.

He nodded. “Yes, your majesty.” He stepped inside and returned moments later with sweatpants and a t-shirt.

I shifted into human form, not caring I was now naked in front of several people. Most of them were guards, so it was nothing they hadn’t seen before. I quickly dressed in the clothes the guard had procured. “Thank you,” I mumbled as I walked inside the palace. I walked towards the elevator and went to push the button, but it opened, and my sister walked off. She was dressed in a short red dress covered by a tan trench coat with red heels on her feet.

She gasped when she nearly collided with me. “Cassius!” She yelped.

I raised an eyebrow at her. “Ainsley, where are you going?”

“U-um I-I’m,” She stuttered. “I’m h-hungry.” She finally squeaked out. “S-so I am going to the kitchen.”

My arms folded against my chest. “Dressed like that?”

She looked down at herself. “Oh, I have been wearing this all day.”

I knew she was lying. She was my sister; I always knew when she was lying. “Right. Where are you going, Ains?”

She scoffed. “None of your business, Cass.” She flipped her brown hair off of her shoulder. “I’m eighteen.” She tried walking away, but I placed my hand on her shoulder and stopped her.

“You may be eighteen, but I am your brother and the king, so you will tell me where you are going?” I growled lowly at her. “Or I can call Dad, and you can deal with him.”

She frowned. “Please don’t call Dad,” She sighed. “I uh, met my mate today. I was just going to go see him.” She smiled at me. “Please, we had a rough start today, and I just wanted to go make it up to him?”

I took in a deep breath. I still sensed she was lying, but she seemed sincere. “Fine, be careful, alright. Use protection.” I smirked at her.

“Thank you, Cass.” She stood on her tiptoes and kissed my cheek. “You are the best big brother.” She then scampered off towards the kitchen.

The elevator dinged as the doors opened again. I had to face Jemma. I stepped onto the elevator and closed my eyes to steel myself. As soon as the doors reopened, her scent hit me, and I felt angry. I should have felt overjoyed, but all I felt was anger. Her scent overwhelmed me as I opened the door and stepped inside. She was sitting in our bed scrolling through her phone. She looked up and smiled. Enoch purred in my head, but I remained stoic and looked at her with anger. “Hello, Jemma. Mind telling me what happened today.” I said in a cold tone.

She shrank into her pillow as I stepped towards her. She shrugged. “Oh, you know. Three young ladies went to the spa and then the mall. Nothing to tell.”

A growl rumbled out of me as I stood in front of the bed, staring her down. “I am not in the mood for games, Jemma. Now tell me about your day. All of it.” I hissed.

Her violet eyes looked up at me with fear. She shuddered as her body trembled under my gaze. I hated making her scared. She sighed and looked at the bed. “Where would you like me to start?” She said quietly.

“Tell me about the fight at the mall.” She looked up at me, momentarily confused. “Yes, I already know about everything that happened today, but I want to hear your side.”

She furrowed her brows. “Oh, that was just a moment of stupidity on my part.”

“Why were you fighting over another male?” I almost yelled.

She jumped. “Oh, that.” She pushed back the covers and swung her legs onto the floor. She was wearing a pink nightgown, and I had to control my l**t as Enoch growled seductively in my head. She stood up and walked over to the couches, and sat down with her back to me.

I walked to the back of the couch and stood behind her. I watched her back as her breathing quickened. I gripped the back of the sofa and lowered my face till my lips were next to her cheek. “Tell me why you were fighting over another male,” I growled lowly.

She shuddered. “It-it,” I saw a tear run down her cheek as she stuttered. “I-I saw my ex Paul than my mortal enemy Rosalind slithered up to him and started pawing him,” She explained as I walked around and sat on the couch opposite her. My blue eyes were looking into her violet ones.

“Why does it matter if your ex,” I said ‘ex’ with venom, “has a new female in his life.”

“Because it’s f*****g Rosalind of all people. How can he be with her? She’s awful.” She folded her arms as tears leaked down her cheeks.

I growled. “Again, what the f**k does it matter, Jemma?” I said louder than I intended.

“I don’t know why it matters, Cass. It shouldn’t. But for some reason, it made me angry to see them together. Then Paul told me that they had been together for months.” She stood up. “Months!” She paced in front of me. “I was the other woman. I can’t believe he was cheating on me.” She rambled as I just leaned back on the couch with my arms folded. “Cheating on me with that w***e, Rosalind.”

I took a deep breath and pinched the bridge of my nose. “Again, why does it matter? It’s in the past. You have me now.”

She sighed and stopped pacing. “I know. But-” She paused. “Cassius, Paul was the reason I tried rejecting you.” My heart ached when she said those words. “I-I thought he loved me, and rejecting you meant I could have a chance at real love-“

“YOU DON”T THINK WHAT WE HAVE IS REAL LOVE?!” I roared as I stood up and grabbed her shoulders. “You don’t think this is real?” I felt my heart race as my face heated.

She trembled as tears streamed down her face. “I-I,” She sobbed as I let go of her and turned away from her. “Cassius, please. I know now what we have is real love but-“

“But what, Jemma?!” I snarled.

“When I saw Paul today, old feelings rose to the surface-“

“You want to be with Paul?!” I shouted.

She stepped back from me. “N-no. I mean, I still felt something for him, and when he told me that he had been cheating on me, it hurt. Like I felt cheap. I put all of my efforts into the relationship, only for it to be nothing but an easy screw for him. Then doubts about us arose.”

“What doubts, Jemma? I love you with everything I have. You are my entire life. Nothing else on this planet matters more to me than you, and you doubt that?”

“Cass,” She whispered. “I-I have,” She trailed off as she sat on the couch and buried her pretty face in her hands, and sobbed.

I knelt in front of her. “Jemma, what do you doubt? Tell me.” My tone was trying to soothe her. I ran my hand through her silky blond hair, and she leaned towards me.

“Everything. I doubt everything.” She looked up at me. Her violet eyes tinged red from her tears. My heart ached for her. Moments ago, I was angry but seeing her breaking down brought me back to earth. She needed me.

I tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “What do you mean?”

“Everybody has this assumption that I am this confident, independent woman. And I’m not, Cassius. I constantly doubt everything around me. I doubt I am good enough for you. I doubt I’ll make a good queen. I doubt I am a good mother to Nicky.” She rambled out.

I pulled her into my arms. Her face rested against my chest. “Oh, my Jemma.” She sobbed against my chest. “You are good enough for me. You already are a great queen. And Nicky is blessed to have you for a mother.”

She sobbed louder as I wrapped my arms around her shaking body. I kissed the top of her head. “I love you, Cassius. I love you so much it hurts.” She looked up at me. “That I don’t doubt.”

I rose and sat beside her on the couch. She laid her head on my chest, and I stroked her hair.

“I put on a brave face for everyone. I don’t want them to think I am weak,” She spoke quietly as she traced circles on my chest.

“You are anything but weak.” I sighed and closed my eyes. The anger I felt earlier was gone. I just wanted to sit here and hold my mate. “Thank you for showing me your vulnerable side. You can show it to many anytime. I will be strong for both of us.”

“Do you ever have doubts, Cass?”

I laughed lightly. “All of the time.” I played with her hair. “There are times I doubt I am a good king. Do the people love me? Am I good to them?”

“You are a good king, Cass.”

“Thank you.”

She looked up at me. “Your sister found her mate today.”
