The Alpha King's Rebellious Queen
The Alpha King’s Rebellious Queen Chapter 55

Jemma’s POV

The rest of the weekend after the coronation went quickly. Cassius and I spent the day after holed up in our room with Nicky. We watched lots of cartoons. After Nicky went to sleep, Cassius and I had lots of hot s*x. I had normal dreams for once. Was it because we now suspected Felix’s witch companion was responsible. I did see my twins frolicking in the daisies with Cassius.

I was snuggled in the arms of the man I loved when the inevitable nausea kicked in as I awoke. He was holding me tight again. “Cassius,” I smacked his arms. “Cassius, I’m going to puke.” I struggled to get free, and he g*****d and released me. I was out of bed and running to the bathroom. I retched into the toilet until my sides hurt. I sat on the ground as he sat behind me. His hands were softly rubbing my back as I held my head in my hands. “You don’t have to sit there every time I puke,” I mumbled to him as I got to my feet. I felt a bit dizzy and had to grab the counter.

“I told you before we are in this together,” He stood behind with his hands rubbing my arms.

I sighed and rinsed my mouth out with water and mouthwash. We went into the shower, and I was still too nauseous to be up for shower s*x. After the shower, we dressed. I opted for black slacks and a purple button-up shirt with a black jacket. He dressed in one of his hot suits. This one dark red with a white shirt. “Damn,” I said as I looked him over.

He smirked. “You like this one?”

I nodded as I kissed him. “Of course, though you could probably put on a burlap sack, and I’d still replace you sexy as hell.”

He laughed. “I may hold you to that.”

“I have to go get Nicky ready for pupcare,” I said as I walked out of the closet.

“I’ll be here waiting.”

I left our room and went across the hall. Nicky was sitting on his bed playing with his stuffed wolf. “Morning, Nicky. How did you sleep?”

“Okay.” He said with an air of sadness.

“What’s wrong?” I asked him.

“I miss Daddy,” He replied as I sat on his bed and pulled him onto my lap.

“I’m sorry Nicky. I’m sure Daddy misses you too. You’ll see him soon,” I patted his back. “We’ll call him later, okay?”

He nodded with a sniffle.

“Now, let’s get you dressed,” I set him back on his bed and walked over to his dresser. “What do you want to wear today?” He still looked sad. ‘Cassius, can you possibly ask the kitchen to make waffles for Nicky for breakfast. I still haven’t gotten the hang of mind linking random people.’

‘Okay, love,’ He replied. ‘Is everything alright?’

‘Nicky misses Jeremy,’ I swear I heard him growling. ‘Cassius, stop growling.’

‘Sorry, it’s a reflex,’ He mumbled.

I laughed as I picked out clothes for my son. I picked out a shirt with a tiger and some khaki pants for him. “How about the tiger?” I got him dressed. “I had the kitchen make you waffles for breakfast. How does that sound?”

“Yummy.” He smiled as we walked out of his room.

“Come on, Cass, “I called into my room, and my king appeared a moment later. He looked down at me, son.

“Your Mom said you were feeling sad this morning,” He picked up Nicky. He shook his little head. “I miss my Daddy,” He leaned against Cassius’s chest.

“I know. I’m sorry, Nick,” Cassius held him as we approached the elevators. His parents, sister, and her mate were waiting as well. “Good morning, everyone.”

“Well, it’s nice to see you two out of your room,” Terry smirked at us.

“We just wanted a quiet day,” Cassius replied to his father.

Terry scoffed, “Didn’t sound quiet to me.”

Cassius rolled his eyes as the elevator door opened. We all squeezed in. “Hey Nick, at lunchtime, we’ll come to get you from pupcare so you can call your daddy from my office. Okay?”

My pup smiled at my mate, “Okay.”

When the elevator arrived on the ground floor, Cassius set Nicky on the floor. My son shot off like a rocket towards the dining room. “Nicky! Slow down.”I called after him. I watched as he ran into one of the warriors. Nicky fell backward and started to whimper. The warrior glared at my pup.

“Watch where you are going,” He growled at my whimpering pup. “Dumb pup.”

I reached him and picked up my now crying son. The warrior’s eyes widened as Cassius growled beside me. “Did you just call my stepson dumb?”

The warrior shook his head. “I-I’m sorry, your majesty.”

“Apologize to the Queen’s son,” Cassius ordered as the warrior trembled.

“I-I’m sorry.” He mumbled and walked away.

Nick stopped whimpering as we walked into the dining room. Everyone rose to their feet. We took our respective places. “Good morning, everyone. I hope you all had a good weekend as we celebrated the rise of a new queen.” Cassius’s voice boomed. “Now, let’s welcome a new week. Let’s eat.”

I noticed a kid’s chair beside mine. I smiled at Cassius as I set Nicky down on it. “Look, Nicky, you have your own chair.” The omegas brought out breakfast, and Nicky clapped his little hands as I opened the cloche revealing his favorite. I helped him butter and syrup his waffles before turning my attention to my own breakfast. It was bacon, eggs, and toast. I took one whiff, and suddenly I felt sick again. I had been feeling fine. I nibbled on some of the toast and felt bile rising. “Excuse me.” I got up from my seat and ran to the nearest bathroom. I reached it just in time. I stood over the toilet, bracing myself against the wall. I sighed when I finally felt I could leave the bathroom. I rinsed my mouth out with water and walked slowly back to the dining room. Cassius gave me a sympathetic look as I sat back down. An omega set a mug in front of me.

“Jemma, dear. I had them make you some chicken broth,” Izzy said to me. “It helped me with morning sickness. Drink it and nibble the toast.”

I picked up the mug and sipped it. The salty brine soothed my belly. “Mommy, are you okay?” Nicky asked me.

“I’m okay, baby.” I patted his little hand. “Are you ready for pupcare? I’m sure your buddies Nico and Henry will be there.”

He nodded as he finished his food. “Let’s go now.”

“I have to finish my food first, okay.”

He folded his arms and scowled at me.

“Don’t scowl at me like that, Nicholas,” I scolded him, “You have to be patient.”

He growled lowly.

Leonora growled in my head. ‘That wolf of his is a defiant pup. I’ll put him in his place.’

I laughed at my wolf. I finished my broth and felt better. I picked up a piece of toast. “Cass, I’m taking Nick to pupcare. I’ll meet you in the office.” I got up from my seat and kissed him.

“Okay, love.”

I grabbed my son’s hand, and we walked out of the dining room. “Now, I am not mad at you, Nicky.”

“Leonora yelled at Lasher.” He mumbled.

“Well, she is his mother wolf. He needs to learn to listen to her,” I explained to him. After dropping him off at pupcare, I walked into the office and noticed that the desk had been moved, and now there was another desk beside it. Cassius smiled as I approached.

“I got you, your own desk, So we can work side by side and have our own spaces.” He sounded so proud of himself. He stood up from his desk. I walked over to him, and he clasped my hand as I sat in my new chair. “Oh, nice chair,” I remarked.

“I’m glad you like it.” He sat in his and turned on his computer. “I already got started on the emails.” He explained as there was a knock on the door. “Come in,” He said as Casper and Ainsley walked in. Casper bowed. “What’s up, Casper?”

“Cass, I want to know what is going to happen to my father.”

Cassius sighed. “He is going to be executed.”

The young alpha sighed. “I figured. When? I need to get back to my pack and be sworn in as alpha. My beta reports I am needed.”

“Tomorrow,” Cassius replied to him.

“Okay. I need to leave after to get back to my pack.”

Cassius looked at his sister, “Are you going to go with?”

She nodded, “Yeah. I already told Mom and Dad.”

“So, will you be sworn in as their Luna also?” Cassius asked her.

She shrugged. “I guess. I don’t know how to do a Luna ceremony.”

“Have Mom go with you,” Cassius said to her.

“Cassius, I was wondering if I could see my father one last time.” Casper was wringing his hands as he waited for Cassius to reply.

“No. He is quite volatile. He has gone feral and isn’t speaking coherently.”

Casper sighed. “Please. He’s still my father.”

“My answer is no,” Cassius growled lowly at him. “Now, Ainsley, go ask Mom to help with your Luna ceremony. Let us know when it is so we can be there.”

Casper frowned as he grabbed Ainsley’s hand and led her out of the office.

I sighed, “I think you should let Casper see his father.”

“Jemma, I am not arguing about this. Blake Reynolds is very dangerous.”

“He is in the dungeons. How dangerous can he be?”

He glared at me. “This discussion is over. We have work to do.”

I shook my head and turned my attention to the computer on my new desk. “What do you need me to do?”

He divided up the emails and other work. We worked in silence for some time. Both lost in our own worlds. “We have to meet with the elders. Predictably Felix has questioned the paternity of our pups, and the elders want to speak to us about it.” He nearly growled out.

“Okay,” I replied while my back was still turned to him.

“The elders should be here shortly.”

I nodded, “Okay.”

“Jemma, are you mad at me?”

“No, Cass.”

He sighed, and we worked another twenty minutes before there was knocking at the door. “Come in,” Cassius said out loud. The door opened, and five elder wolves walked in. They were the oldest and most respected wolves in the kingdom. Some were former alphas. There were one female and the rest male. Elder Reed, who had presided over my coronation, smiled at me as they sat on the couches. Cassius and I stood before them. “Would anyone like something to drink?”

The female elder stood up. She had jet black hair and fierce-looking green eyes. “No, your majesty. We are here on business.”

“Of course, Elder Fern.” He clasped his hands. “No doubt you are questioning the paternity of mine and the queen’s unborn pups.”

Another elder stood up. He stood tall and strong. He had pure white hair and a long beard. “We have heard of the queen’s promiscuity in the past. Lord Felix came to us with concerns that the pups in question are not of your b***d.”

Cassius growled. “They are mine, Elder Murray. My wolf has confirmed that.”

“That isn’t always accurate, your majesty.” Elder Murray pressed. “We need only question the Queen before we make a decision.”

My mate sighed and looked at me. “Sorry, Jemma.”

“It’s alright, Cass,” I reassured him. I looked at the elders and met eyes with Elder Reed. He looked familiar to me. I couldn’t place it. His eyes were violet-like mine. Only white wolves had violet eyes.

“Queen Jemma, did you have relations with a male before the Royal Mating Ball?” Elder Murray asked me.

I hated the line of questioning. “Yes, elder. I was also on birth control.”

He looked at the other elders. “When did you know you were pregnant?”

“It’s been about a week that I have known. Dr. Hall confirmed it after Cassius told me.”

“We may have to have an exam done to confirm the age of the said pups,” Elder Fern joined in. “When did you stop the birth control?”

“Shortly after I arrived here at the palace.”

She looked at the other elders. “I think we are done here. It sounds like Lord Felix’s concerns were unfounded. Though we would still like you to be examined.” She explained. “Do that, and we’ll close the matter.”

“Fine,” Cassius spat out. “Is there anything else?”

They all stood up. “No, your majesties.” Elder Murray said to him, “Sorry to meet you this way, Queen Jemma.” He bowed, and they all filed out. Elder Reed was the last one.

“Elder Reed,” I called to him. The blond-haired man turned to me. “I have a question. Or several.”

He smiled warmly at me. “I know you do. And to answer your first one, yes, I am a white wolf.”

I laughed, “Don’t tell me that you read minds.”

“I don’t.”

“Your last name is Moonraker?” He nodded. “That was my grandmother’s maiden name. Are we related?”

He looked me up and down. “Yes. Victoria was my sister.”

My mouth fell open. “You’re my uncle. I mean great uncle.”

He nodded again. “Yes.”

“How come I have never heard of you or met you?”

He sighed, “Your father and I had a falling out many years ago. He banished me from his pack and told me never to contact you.”

“What happened?”

He clasped his hands, “It’s a long story, Queen Jemma.”

“Please call me Jemma.”

“Call me Uncle Reed.” He kept his warm smile. “Perhaps another day, I will tell you my tale. Tell you about white wolves.”

“That would be good. I have a lot of questions that my father couldn’t answer for me. And I am carrying twin white wolves.”

His eyes widened as he looked at my belly, “Oh dear Goddess.” He glanced at Cassius. “Perhaps we’ll talk sooner. This is serious.”

“How about tonight?”

He nodded. “Yes, that works.”

I looked at Cassius, “Is that alright?”

“Yes, Jemma. May I be there as well?”

Uncle Reed nodded, “Yes, your majesty. As their father, you are going to know everything I can share. I’ll see you both later.”

“Come back around five,” Cassius told him. The elder bowed and left the office.

“Did you know he was my uncle?”

“Yes,” Cassius walked back to his computer.

“How come no one told me?” I was annoyed that I had been left in the dark about Elder Reed.

“Ask your father about that,” Cassius mumbled.

We got back to work, and before long, it was lunchtime. I went to pupcare to retrieve Nicky so we could call Jeremy. But my pup seemed occupied with his friend and asked to stay to play and eat lunch with them. “Okay, we’ll call your Dad later then,” I said to him.

As I was returning to the office, I ran into Casper Reynolds. “Jemma, can I call you Jemma?” He asked while grabbing my arms.

“Yes, but only if you let me go,” I said, and he dropped his hands.

“Sorry, I need to ask you a favor. Can you take me down to the dungeons to see my father? Please. I need to talk to him one last time.” The young alpha sounded desperate.

“I don’t want to cause problems with Cassius.”

He frowned at me. “I hate to ask this of you. But I wouldn’t be asking if I wasn’t desperate. I need to say my goodbyes to him. Please?”

I sighed heavily, “Alright, I’ll take you down. Wait here for me.” I told him before going to the office. I should have been having lunch. Cassius was sitting in front of his computer, talking to someone. He looked up. “Excuse me, alpha. Sorry, Jemma, I have some important calls to make.”

“Do you need me?”

He shook his head.

“I am going to go have lunch in the dining room with Ainsley then.” I lied to his face. I hated it.

He nodded. “Okay, I’ll see you soon, love.”

Sighing, I exited the office and went back to where I left Casper. He looked nervous as I approached him. “Okay, let’s go.” I ushered him down the hall. We exited the palace and walked to a dark building several yards away. It sat low and had iron doors. I put in my code to enter. I walked in, and Maria was sitting behind a desk in front of more iron doors. She looked up and narrowed her eyes.

“Jemma?” She stood up and eyed Casper, “What are you doing here?”

Taking a deep breath, I stepped towards her. “Alpha Casper would like to speak to his father.”

The Delta folded her arms. “I don’t think so. Reynolds has gone feral. It’s taking everything we have to keep him from tearing up his cell. Even the silver chains have little effect on them.”

“Delta Hall, I know how to talk to him. Please just give me a few minutes with him.”

She sighed. “The King said no visitors.”

“Well, I say Casper here should be able to see his father. Just a few minutes.”

“I can’t go against Cassius’s orders,” Maria folded her arms.

“You can’t go against mine, either.”

She glared at me, “If anything happens to you-“

I cut her off. “It will be okay, Maria.”

“Delta, I can handle him. Trust me.”

Maria snarled and walked towards the iron door that went into the inner dungeon. She opened it and led us down the long line of cells. They were mostly empty. We could hear growling as we approached another iron door at the end of the corridor. We entered, and there were silver-coated bars within. Former alpha Reynolds was within in half-wolf/half-human form. His eyes were glowing gold as he growled at us. He softened momentarily as he spied his son. No words came from him.

“You have five minutes,” Maria instructed Casper.

The young alpha nodded as he looked at his father. I stood beside him. “Do you want me to leave?”

Casper shook his head, “You don’t have to.”

Maria walked out and left us there alone with the feral alpha.

“Father,” Casper said out loud. “I know you can’t speak right now.”

“I can speak, you clod,” The alpha’s features returned to human after Maria left. “That was just for show.”

“Oh,” Casper glanced at me. “I just wanted to speak to you one last time.”

“Wanted to gloat, did ya boy?”

“No, I j-just-“

“Quit stuttering Casper. Have I taught you nothing?” He sneered at his son. “Pathetic. You will be the downfall of the pack I worked hard to build up.”

Casper sighed, “I know you killed my mother, Renee.”

“Renee wasn’t your mother,” Reynolds snorted. ” I did kill your mother. She gave me a weak son, so I snapped her neck. Big deal. Renee kept giving me worthless daughters, so I snapped her neck.”

“Geez, it’s no wonder you are being executed,” I mumbled out.

The former alpha turned his eyes on me. “You are the reason I am in here. Had you not stuck your w***e nose where it didn’t belong.” He growled at me. Casper put himself between his father and me.

“Father, you have only yourself to blame. What you did to Nicole and the others-“

“You have to keep your women in line, son. Letting them think they have power is how packs fail.” He growled again. “Don’t let this w***e they dare call a queen tell you otherwise.”

“Call me a w***e one more time,” I growled at him.

Reynold snorted, “Oh right, the high and mighty Jemma MacKenzie. I tremble.” He mocked me. I made the mistake of stepping towards him. He grabbed my arm and pulled me into the silver bars. I hissed as they made contact with my skin.

I tried pulling away as he tightened his grip. “You will be the downfall of this kingdom,” His voice hissed. “Cassius will be whipped into submission, and the kingdom will fall into ruin because he thinks you are his equal.”

“Father, let Jemma go.” Casper punched him, and the alpha fell back into the cell.

I fell backward and hit the ground. The alpha stood up and slammed into the bars growling. “You are a worthless whelp.” He shouted at Casper.

Casper growled as his father lunged at the bars again. Casper grabbed him by his neck and held the elder wolf against the bars. “See, I am not as weak as you think,” Casper’s fingers extended into claws, and he slit his father’s neck through the bars.

Reynolds howled as Casper dropped him. Reynolds held his neck as b***d poured out. There was a growl in the hall as the iron door was flung open, revealing my furious mate. Cassius looked at the bleeding alpha on the floor.

“What have you done, Casper?”

“I saved you the trouble of executing my father.”

The horrible gurgling sound from the former alpha as he lay dying became quiet as his body lie still. Maria opened the door to the inner cell and stepped in. She kicked the still form of the former alpha. “I think he’s dead.”

“He’s dead,” Casper stated. “You can lock me up if you must, Cassius.”

Cassius shook his head. “No, what’s done is done. Now get out of here.”

“If you would have my father’s remains sent to my pack.”

The king growled. “Fine.”

Casper walked.

I shuddered when Cassius turned his anger on me. I was standing against the wall. He gently ran a hand along my solver burned arm. I hissed. “We need to get you to the hospital.” He said with his cold tone. I followed him out without protest.
