The Alpha Prince And His Bride -
Episode 39
My father motioned for everyone to enter the room and join him. I watched in anticipation as my brothers walked in, followed by Austin’s entire family. My eyes kept searching the crowd until I found him there in the middle, he wasn’t looking at me, his gaze was down and it looked as though he was ashamed of himself to even be seen looking at me. His thick dark brown hair was in a complete mess, anyone would think that he’d been pulling at the strands for an entire day. It had me thinking that it was exactly what he’d been doing while I’d been in here. I wasn’t sure how I felt about that .Now I knew that the only reason he’d treated me the way that he did was because of the spell. But still, he should have known, he should have known I was his and even if he couldn’t tell, he should have never treated me the way that he did. But at the same time, he was my mate, he was the one I wouldn’t be able to live without. . .he was mine, we were made for each other and I couldn’t imagine my life without him in it. I relaxed in slow stages, reminding myself that I now had a baby to protect. It would do my child no good if I kept stressing over this entire thing. I was at least grateful to know that we’d all come out of this battle alive and with just a few scratches. I turned my attention back to my father as his voice echoed throughout the room. He was finally ready to explain the truth.
“It all started the day I overheard a conversation between Eric and his Beta. I was on my way to let him know of a surprise birthday party I wanted to throw for Jeremy and instead I’d gotten the shock of my life after hearing of his brutal plan to overthrow Jeremy’s pack. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t realize one of Eric’s pack members had seen me and told Eric I’d heard everything. So, before I had time to warn Jeremy of the attack, Eric had already set his plan into motion. Apparently, he had already bribed some of my pack members to join him on the ambush. He knew that he wouldn’t be able to overthrow Jeremy with the little power that he had back then and so he only let my pack members do all the attacking so that he could frame me and make it look like I was the whole mastermind behind everything. That way, no one would believe anything that I had to tell them about that specific incident I’d witnessed. After the whole attack, no one listened to a word I said. “My father explained as he turned to gaze at King Jeremy. “You didn’t wait to hear my side of the story. . .didn’t give me a chance to prove my innocence. It did hurt, because you were like a brother to me, I’ve always spent my life proving my loyalty to you and your family because I’ve always considered them as my own. I understood why you did what you did however, all the evidence said I’d done it. So you banished my family and I. . . Without many of our pack members, we could no longer support ourselves.”
Austin’s parents were looking at my father, their eyes brimmed brightly with unshed tears. I could see the regret in their eyes for everything they’d done as they gazed at my father almost pleadingly, they hadn’t said anything yet but the look on their faces spoke volumes on the way that they felt about my father’s confession.
My father’s eyes were distant as he continued with the story. He seemed to be reliving the past and I couldn’t imagine how hard it must have been to have kept all of this inside for so long. “We suffered for a while, could barely afford food with what we had left. One day I came across this woman crying in the forest near our new home. After approaching her I realized that she was a witch, her eyes were b***d red and she was shaking as though she’d just lost something important to her, as though something tragic had occurred, I took her into my home and there is where she told me her story. Her name is Paige Snow and she is the same witch I brought with me today. Eric murdered her daughter, that was why she was in such a horrible state. A mother grieving for her child, it only proved just how disgusting Eric truly was. I don’t know whether it was faith that brought us in the same place at the same time but what happened next completely shocked me a lot more than the news of Eric killing her innocent daughter. As soon as her eyes had fallen onto Lucy in the arms of my wife, it was as though she’d stopped breathing, her eyes were distant and it looked as though she was in another world. She had seen a great vision that involved Lucy. She requested that we bring the child closer to her and she pressed her hands on her forehead in hopes of seeing more than her last vision.” My father explained as he turned to face me once more. I held my breath for what more was to come, this could be the answers I’d desperately been searching for in the past.
“She then explained to me what she’d seen. In her visions she saw the destruction of Jeremy and his family because of Eric. But that wasn’t what had frightened the woman, there was something dark. . .something dangerous, something that was coming to earth, something that could destroy us all. You’re probably wondering what this has to do with Lucy. In her visions she saw a couple, a chosen couple, this couple was the first of many couples to be chosen in order to save us all from the destruction that’s coming for us. Lucy and Austin happened to be the couple she’d seen in her visions, the first couple chosen to save us all. She’s a powerful witch and she’d seen plenty by just touching Lucy once, she was the one who explained to me everything I had to do in order to get Austin and Lucy together. The first step, which was the most difficult, was to give Lucy up.”
I was completely stunned, in fact everyone’s faces had gone completely still.
“I never wanted to give you up Lucy, it took me a long while before I could agree, it also took a lot of convincing. I realized that if I didn’t do as she said, Jeremy’s family could lose everything they had and sooner or later if you weren’t ever reunited with Austin we would all be in danger, you two are destined for each other, it’s already been written in the heavens, you are a match chosen by the Gods. . .chosen to fight to save many lives. And you two aren’t the only ones, there are many chosen couples to come. . .I don’t know who they are but they have already been chosen and they would all join you in the fight that is to come. . . After your mother and I gave you up we were completely broken. That didn’t stop us from keeping an eye on you however, any chance we got we would watch you from afar, where we were positive no one were watching and could see us. We were always looking over you, the witch was also by our side to guide us along the way, she also wanted revenge against Eric for what he had done to her daughter and therefore, she was willing to help us every step of the way.”
He took a deep breath before continuing, his eyes once again distant. “And then we were forced to join the council, it was my last resort and it was all I could do to support my family after our lives were threatened on multiple occasions, I couldn’t risk my family going rogue. It wasn’t easy, we all fought to make a name for ourselves in the council, fought to survive. . .And then your nosy brothers wanted to make sure that you were okay. They almost spoiled my plans when they brought you to the council. I couldn’t be the loving father you needed there, it’s a place that you cannot show any emotion for if any is shown, they thrive on using it against you. I also needed you back with Austin as quickly as possible for like I said, he is your destined mate, the bond between the both of you runs deeper than any other werewolf mated couple.” He said before walking towards me and taking my hand gently in his. “I could say so much more Lucy but this is everything that you needed to know, I know it may still take some time for you to forgive me but I would continue to watch and love you from afar and protect you in whatever way I could, until you’re ready to allow me into your life and be the father that I’ve always wanted to be for you.”
The tears were flowing uncontrollably now, I couldn’t believe all of this. . .all this time I had misunderstood my whole entire family. . . especially my father.
I forced myself to sit up from the bed and opened my arms to hug him, his eyes widened in shock before a smile brightened his face and he gently held me against him. “It feels good to finally be able to hold my daughter. . .thank you for giving this to me Lucy, you’ve always been a loving child that I would always be proud of.”
Before I knew it apologies were swinging left, right and center between my family and Austin’s. I looked around the room searching for one specific person.
My brows scrunched together in confusion. . . Where did Austin go?
