The Alpha Prince And His Bride -
Book 3 The Alpha’s Substitute Bride – Episode 21
I was in the middle of my dance with Lucas when a loud roar tore through the entire atmosphere. It was so strong that it overpowered the music that we were all dancing to.
Every person in the room stopped moving. In fact, the once loud room was now quieter than a library. I was afraid to look in the direction of the sound, it sounded too similar to someone that I was trying to avoid.
“Ah- Isabella . . . I think your husband is about to throw a fit.” Lucas pointed out. I followed his gaze and sure as hell Hunter was glaring at us. The look on his face was murderous. I had no idea what he was thinking. First of all, I left without telling him anything and when he finally found me I was in the arms of another man.
No one was saying anything still and it only added tension in the room. Now everyone would surely talk about Hunter and me. On the bright side, at least no one would say that he didn’t come to my sister’s wedding.
I froze when he started in our direction. I didn’t know why but something about the way he looked at me turned me on. Who was I kidding; my body was happy to see him. We’d only been apart for a little bit but yet it felt like months to me. I had to fight down my emotions at seeing him again. There was this raging need in his eyes and it sparked my own need. It felt like fire against fire and I was sure that we were both about to get burnt.
“I think that’s my cue to leave.” Lucas whispered as he let go of me and made space for Hunter to join in.
“Can you please not make a scene? It’s Eden’s and James’s day and you’ve done enough to them already. Don’t spoil today for them.” I whispered when he reached my side.
His jaw clenched but he didn’t do anything extreme like try to kill my previous dance partner. I gasped when his hands gripped my waist and crashed our bodies together. My lips parted when a g***n left his mouth right before he leaned down and touched his nose to my neck. I was surprised when he inhaled deeply like my scent was oxygen to his body. It may sound crazy but I somehow knew why he did it. I felt the exact same way, I wanted to grab his shirt and bury my nose against his hair and inhale as much of it as I could.
“What are you doing here?” I asked as his hands pulled me tighter against him and guided my h**s to the music.
“Why did you leave without telling me anything?” He growled before gripping the back of my head and tugging softly on my hair. I was surprised by how gentle he was being despite the anger radiating off his body.
“Because you wouldn’t let me leave.” I accused.
His eyes narrowed. “You know why I did it. It was to protect you!”
“Nothing was going to stop me from seeing my sisters Hunter.”
He pulled me tighter against him. “You should have left a note for me at least. I’ve been restless following your scent all over only to replace dead ends each time. You did good to hide your scent from me and I’m not happy about it. Did you try to lead me somewhere else?”
I hid the grin. “I knew that you would replace me easily if I just stayed one place. So I made sure to visit multiple places and tell the people there to mislead you. It seems like they did a good job at it.”
Maybe I shouldn’t have said that because his eyes darkened a few shades. “I almost killed someone today because he wouldn’t tell me in which direction you went . . . Don’t ever play with me like that.”
For the first time tonight I felt guilty for putting him through that. But he left me no choice! If I had travelled straight here, he would have followed my scent and got to me before I could have even reached the palace. He already knew that this was where I would have wanted to come for my sister’s wedding, so I knew I had to throw him off a little.
Before I could say anything else his lips crashed down on mine in a possessive k**s. I held onto his shoulders and tried to catch my breath. Hunter shamelessly gripped my a*s in his hands and grinded his h**s against mine. If his mouth wasn’t on mine I would have surely cried out at the pleasure.
My cheeks were burning when he pulled away from me. I couldn’t believe he just kissed me in front of everyone. I could feel many eyes on us and I tried not pay attention to any of them.
“You didn’t have to do that in front of everyone.” I snapped.
“What?” He asked passionately. “K**s my wife?”
I narrowed my eyes. “Apparently I’m only your wife when it’s convenient for you.”
He didn’t respond, instead he guided me away from the dance floor when the music stopped and it was then did I replace my entire family just standing watching us with a look of disbelief on each of their faces. I was positive that they’d also seen the k**s between us.
“It’s nice of you to join us as well Hunter. We were worried when we saw Isabella alone here without anyone to escort her.” Lucy said. It looked like she was trying to be as nice as she could but there was still an edge to her voice.
“If I’m being honest, I did not want to be here.” Hunter growled. “I don’t know if your sister told you but her life has been put in danger multiple times already. In one case, she fell off a cliff. I didn’t want her to leave my side in order to protect her, instead she chose to disobey me and come all the way over here completely by herself. Did she tell you that?”
My eyes widened. Why on earth would he tell these things to my sisters?
“No she didn’t.” Eden said as she turned to me with a look of disapproval on her face.
“Please excuse us for a second.” I said as I grabbed Hunter’s arm and tried to pull him away from my family.
“Why would you tell them that?”
“If I can’t put some sense into your head I was hoping that your family would be able to do it.” He hissed.
I crossed my hands over my chest and glared at him. His eyes travelled down my body and I shivered from the intensity from that one heated trail of his eyes. “Let’s go.”
My eyes widened. “I want to stay longer with my siblings. I miss them.”
“I’m not going to have this discussion here Isabella. All of my men are in the forest waiting for my call. Don’t make me use force.”
I couldn’t believe him! I should have expected nothing else from him. I knew that this wasn’t open for discussion and so I made my way back to my family.
“I’m sorry but I can’t stay.” I apologized.
They all took one look at Hunter and didn’t try to stop me from leaving.
“You can visit me . . . I’ll be happy to see all of you in my new home.” I told them. I glanced at Hunter and he didn’t try to stop me. I’d said it to mess with him but he didn’t seem to have a problem with it.
“We will be sure to visit you Isabella.” Lucy and Eden said as they pulled me in for another hug. “Please take care of yourself. Don’t put your life in danger anymore!”
I nodded. “I won’t.”
I didn’t think it was possible now. After tonight, Hunter would not let me out of his sight.
It was time to head back home . . . My new home.
