The Alpha’s Feisty Mate -
Chapter 44: Interrogation
Alpha Drake POV
I was laying in bed completely awake, While Isabella was out on patrol with Erik and Jared. I couldn’t sleep, I had way to much on my mind.
I looked over at my alarm clock and saw that it was 1:00am, I got out of bed to use the washroom and grab a glass of water when I got a mind-link from Jared.
‘Boss, we can smell rogues and Isabella is gone.’ He said, panic clear in his voice.
‘What do you mean she’s gone?’ I growled back.
‘She was following us, when we smelt rogues I looked back and she was gone.’ He replied with concerned.
‘Where are you?’ I asked sharply.
‘West border.’ He replied.
‘I’m on my way.’ I said and ended the mind-link.
I ran out of my bedroom only wearing shorts. I was completely panicked wondering what happened to Isabella. Was she taken?
As soon as I got out of the pack house, I shifted into my wolf and took off sprinting towards the West border.
I started getting close to the border when I was hit with an overpowering smell of rogues.
I approached a clearing in the forest when I spotted her, Brianna, Isabella’s wolf standing above an unconscious rogue.
Her white fur was practically painted red with b***d. I approached and started circling her, trying to assess her injuries, when she growled at me.
My wolf Devon was losing his mind, he knew she was injured, but she wouldn’t let us get close enough to see how bad it was. I could see a serious wound on her stomach, it looked like a chunk had been completely ripped off, it was hard to say for sure since she was covered in b***d.
When Jared and Erik showed up, I shifted to my human form and put on some shorts.
“Isabella, your injured.” I said softly, while approaching her wolf.
She growl again in warning and I stopped. Why the hell is she doing this? I just want to make sure she’s ok. I was getting irritated. I should of been with her, better yet, I should of never let her join patrol.
I decided to send her back to her bedroom where I would have the doctor meet her and treat her wounds.
I hated that I couldn’t communicate with her. I had no idea what happened or what she was thinking. I just watched as she turned and headed back towards the gates.
She didn’t have clothes so there was no way I would let her shift naked in front of Jared and Erik.
I watched as Erik grabbed the unconscious rogue and threw him over his shoulder, like a sack of potatoes.
“I’ll go check on Isabella and I’ll meet you guys in the dungeon.” I told Erik and Jared as they started to walk with the rogue towards the pack house.
“Yes boss.” They both replied in unison. I could see the regret in their eyes.
Once I briefed the three replacement warriors, I headed back to the pack house. My mind was going crazy. Was this another attempted to kidnap Isabella? Why wasn’t she with Jared and Erik?
That rogue is going to die a slow death. I intentionally growled.
Once I reached the pack house I quickly made my way up towards Isabella’s room. I needed to know she was ok. Damn it, I should of been there to protect her, it’s like I keep failing her. I felt frustrated with myself.
I reached her room and didn’t bother to knock, I walked right in.
I growled possessively when I saw Isabella lying on the bed in just her bra and leggings while the male doctor cleaned the wound on her stomach.
I watched as the doctor I know as, Doctor Morrison, step away from Isabella and put his hands up in surrender, while looking at me with concerned eyes.
“I would prefer if you wait outside, while the doctor assesses me.” Isabella spat at me angrily.
“Tough.” I replied shortly. I didn’t miss it when she rolled her eyes at me.
“How do her injuries look, Doctor?“ I asked with concern.
“She’ll be fine Alpha. The wound on her stomach is deep, it’s going to take a few extra days to heal, but I’m not concerned with it.” He replied and I let out a sigh of relief.
“Thank you Doctor.” I said truthfully.
“Well I’m done here, is there anything else I can help you with Alpha?” The doctor asked.
“No that’s all, thank you.” I said and he left the room.
I turned my attention to Isabella.
“Why weren’t you with Jared and Erik?” I asked sternly.
“I was, until I spotted the rogue, Erik and Jared were distracted with something and since I couldn’t mind-link them, I had to make a quick decision. The rogue was running towards town, I couldn’t let that happen, so I went after him.” She replied with frustration, knowing that I wouldn’t be happy with her decision.
“You could of died Isabella, I told you to stay with your patrol team.” I spat angrily at her but with a hint of concern in my tone.
“Alpha I’m a warrior. I can handle one rogue. Plus now he’s in your custody alive. We can question him, replace out what he wanted.” She replied still frustrated.
“I will be heading to the dungeon shortly to question him with Jared and Erik. I wanted to come and check on you first.” I told her.
“I want to be there for questioning.” She replied pointedly.
“No, you need to rest and recover.” I replied sternly leaving no room to argue.
At that moment, I had decided that Isabella was not going to be doing anymore patrol shifts. Not until she can communicate with the rest of my pack and the threat against her was eliminated.
I would wait a bit before telling her, I know she’s not going to be happy, but i would prefer her alive even if that means that she would be mad at me.
“Fine, but tomorrow I want a full debrief.” She replied and crossed her arms over her chest.
“Ok.” I agreed.
I stood in my spot just looking at her. I wanted to try and explain myself again, but I knew deep down this was not the time. A lot had happened today and I needed to give her space and time to process everything.
“Come to my office when you wake up.” I told her and she nodded in acknowledgement.
I walked out of her room and made my way to the dungeon. Time to get some answers out of that a*****e.
As I descended the dimly lit concrete stairs that lead into the dungeon, my mind was racing, I wanted answers. What did this rogue want? I got closer to the holding cells and the overpowering smell of rogue assaulted my nose.
I saw Jared and Erik standing outside one of the holding cells, their eyes landed on me when they noticed my approach.
“Hey boss, we cuffed him to a chair with silver cuffs. He hasn’t woken up yet.” Jared said while I glanced into the cell
“Get some ice water, he’s going to wake up and answer my questions.” I replied sternly.
“I’m on it boss.” Erik said while walking away to fetch a bucket of water.
It only took him a few minutes before he return with it.
Jared opened the cell door and Erik walked in holding the bucket before dumping it on the rogues head.
A large gasp left the rogues mouth as his eyes shot open in shock.
He stared at me for a few minutes without saying anything. I waited so he could process what was happening before speaking.
The rogue’s shocked expression quickly turned smug as he took in his surroundings.
“What were you doing on my territory.” I asked sternly.
“f**k off!” He spat back.
I walked up to the rogue while pulling my fist back, I brought my fist down hard on his face and I heard the sickening sound of bones breaking on impact. B***d started gushing from his nose.
The rogue let out an “ow”.
“We can do this the easy way or the hard way. You tell me what I want to know and I’ll make it a quick death, if you don’t, I’ll keep you alive for days while you die slowly and painfully.” I spat at him with venom in my voice.
The rogue didn’t reply. I pulled my fist back ready to punch him again.
“Ok, ok, I’ll talk.” He said while panting.
I froze at his words and waiting to see what he would say.
“There’s a bounty out for anyone successful in kidnapping a specific female that lives on your territory.” He said and my heart dropped
“Who?” I questioned, already knowing the answer, but needing to hear him say it.
“Isabella, the woman that landed me in here.” He spat back at me with venom in his words. I wanted to hurt him, kill him at that moment. It took everything in me to hold myself back. I need more answers first.
“Who put out the bounty?” I asked.
“The rogue Alpha.” He replied with a smirk.
“How did you know where to replace Isabella?” I asked him curiously.
“Do you think all of your pack members are loyal, Alpha?“ he said with a smirk, taunting me.
I couldn’t hold myself back, I landed another hard punch to his face and was preparing for a third when Jared grabbed my arm, stopping me.
I looked over at him with so much anger and he simple gave me a pointed look, reminding me silently that I need information from the rogue before he died. I took a deep breath before turning my attention back to the rogue.
“What was that suppose to mean.” I asked angrily.
“Well, the Rogue Alpha knew exactly where I would replace Isabella tonight, on patrol, so I think it’s safe today you have at least one pack member working with the enemy.” He said while chuckling in amusement, taunting me further.
“Who is this Rogue Alpha?” I asked.
“ I know his first name is Ryan. He’s got a powerful aura, so he definitely comes form an Alpha bloodline. That’s all I know.” He said and sounded truthful.
Who is this Alpha that wants what’s mine? I need to replace him and kill him. He can’t have Isabella, I’ll do everything in my power to keep her safe.
“Kill him.” I ordered Erik and Jared as I turned and walked away towards the dungeon exit.
“Yes boss” they answered in unison.
