Chapter 49: Something isn’t right

Clair POV

Training ended at 11:00am and I headed back to my room with Jared. It’s only been a few weeks since we’ve known each other, but I’m already head over heals for him.

He makes me so happy. His love is intense, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. He cherishes me like a Queen and I can’t get enough of it.

Once we got back, I guess you could say, to our room. I quickly stripped out of my sweaty clothes.

I heard a low growl come from Jared as I stood naked in front of him. His eyes turned black and he started to stalk towards me, like the predator he is.

A squeak left my lips, as I took off running to the other side of the bed, putting it, as barrier between us. A giggle left my lips as I continued to tease him.

“Do you thing this bed is going to keep me from you, princess?” Jared growled huskily, as he jumped over the bed, trying to grab at me.

I moved out of the way and he landed on the floor with a thud. I couldn’t stop giggling. I ran into the bathroom and closed the door behind me, before turning on the shower.

I heard a knock at the door.

“Little wolf, little wolf, let me in, or I’ll knock this damn door down.” He said with his husky voice and I let out another giggle as I hoped in the shower.

The damn man is so excited he didn’t even check to see if the door was locked, because it’s not.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he kicks the damn thing down, without even checking the handle first.

The next thing I knew, the glass shower door flew open and Jared stood there naked, breathing heavily, while taking in my naked body with his l**t filled eyes.

“We aren’t done here, tonight I’m finishing this.” He said pointedly sounding frustrated, before kissing my cheek and walking to the door. He stopped before leaving and turned to face me.

“I love you.” He said with so much sincerity.

“I love you too.” I replied with a smile, before he walked out the door closing it behind him.

Once Jared left for his meeting, I had a couple of hours to kill, before I had to be at the training field with Isabella for the teen training. I decided to get dress and go for a walk.

I put on some black leggings and a dark pink tank top, I tied my hair up in a high pony tail before slipping on some runners and leaving my room.

I walked down to the main floor and left the pack house, heading towards the gardens. It’s my favourite place to be alone and get lost in my thoughts. It’s also a beautiful sunny day, so I want to be outside and soak up some sun.

I got there and started walking around, enjoying the warmth of the sun that was caressing my body. I couldn’t stop thinking about Jared and how happy I am when I’m with him. He’s quickly become my whole life.

He is my absolute perfect soulmate. We haven’t been able to mark each other yet, since I’m not 19 for another two weeks, but I can’t wait for when we finally do.

I sat down on a bench and was pulled from my thoughts when I heard someone approaching me. I turned around and saw Jill walking towards me with a smile.

“Oh sorry, I didn’t realize anyone was out here.” Jill said apologetically, offering me a small smile

“Oh that’s ok, I was just enjoying the warm weather.” I replied, returning the smile.

I don’t know much about Jill. I do know that she had a thing going on with Alpha Drake before we moved here and hasn’t really gotten over him. She doesn’t seem happy with the attention that he gives Isabella, but she’s never been outright mean to either of us.

I still get this bad feeling about her, I put the thought aside and put on a fake smile, playing nice to prevent any conflicts.

She walked up to me and sat down on the bench next to me. I really didn’t feel like making small talk with her, but I didn’t want to be rude either.

“So, how do you like the pack so far?” She asked.

“Everyone‘s been great, I really love it.” I replied sincerely while smiling at her. She returned the smile and our eyes met. I saw how anxious she was when our eyes made contact, something felt off and I was starting to feel uncomfortable. I need to leave, I thought to myself. My wolf agreed.

“Well, I better get back to my room, I have to get ready for the teen training this afternoon.” I said, while standing and turning to leave. I heard her stand behind me.

“Wait.” She said, I started to turn around, but before I could, I felt a sharp sting on my neck.

My hand instantly reach for where I felt the pain and I pulled out a syringe that was still sticking out of my neck.

I looked at it, then I look at her, she had a smug smile on her face and she was just watching me.

It took a few seconds before I realized what was happening, she poisoned me, before I could do or say anything further, I fell to the ground and blackness consumed me.
