The Alpha’s Feisty Mate
Chapter 53: I’m sorry

Isabella POV

While Alpha Drake was in the bathroom, I grabbed my backpack that was sitting on the floor only a few feet away.

I opened it and started frantically rummaging through it, until I found what I was looking for, the syringe filled with wolfbane.

This idea was completely reckless and dangerous, but I was desperate, I only had a few more hours until daylight and if I didn’t get to Clair, the Rogue Alpha would kill her.

I started feeling guilty just thinking about what I was planning to do. Alpha Drake will never forgive me and he’s my mate, It broke my heart. I didn’t want to hurt him, but I had no choice.

I laid down on the bed with my back to the bathroom door and hid the syringe in the sleeve of my shirt, while still holding it in my hand.

After a few minutes, I heard the bathroom door open, not long after, I felt the bed dip beside me.

“I hope eventually you can forgive me, Isabella. I meant it, I love you.” Alpha Drake said, with a soft and sad voice. Tears started to escape my eyes as I held them tightly shut, listening to Alpha Drakes words. I didn’t say anything.

He won’t love me, not after what I’m about to do.

Bri whimpered in my head at the thought.

I felt him lie down on the bed next to me. My heart was pounding, I tried to slow it down, but I couldn’t. I was overwhelmed with emotions.

I wanted to talk with Alpha Drake, try to understand why he didn’t tell me that I was his mate. Does he really love me? What does this all mean for us?

I shook my head internally, I can’t think about this right now, not until Clair is safe, she is my priority.

After a while, Alpha Drake’s breathing and heartbeat had slowed, telling me that he had dozed off.

I slowly turned my body around making sure not to wake him. I couldn’t help myself from pausing for a moment to watch him sleep, burning the image of his handsome face to my memory, incase I never see him again.

I pulled the syringe from my sleeve and wasted no time plunging it into his neck. Alpha Drake’s eyes flew wide open and he sat up on the bed looking around the room, until his eyes met with mine.

His hand reached up to his neck and he removed the syringe from his skin before glancing down at it. I watched his face, as the realization of what I did hit him. Only seconds later his eyes closed and his body fell limp onto the bed, he was unconscious. I let out a breath of relief.

I could feel all of his emotions through the mate bond when the realization hit him, anger, fear, disbelief, disappointment it was overwhelming, until he fell unconscious and I couldn’t feel anything anymore, except for my own emotions.

Bri was whimpering in my head. I knew it hurt her to hurt him, but she agreed with me, we had no other choice.

I didn’t waste time, I reached into his pocket and pulled out the key for my ankle cuff. I quickly unlocked the restraint freeing myself from the chain.

I grabbed my backpack off the ground and threw it over my shoulder. I saw my dagger sitting on Alpha Drake’s dresser and holstered it on my leg.

I glanced one last time at Alpha Drake’s unconscious body, whispering the words ‘I’m sorry’, before I left the room and shut the door behind me.

The guilt of what I had done, was almost unbearable. I kept reminding myself that Clair’s life depends on it, but it really wasn’t helping. What I just did is unforgivable and punishable by death. I just poisoned an Alpha, not just any Alpha, I poisoned my mate.

I slowly descended the stairs to the main floor of the pack house. I didn’t want anyone else replaceing me before I left the territory.

Went I reached the main floor I glanced around to make sure no one was there, before making my way to the front doors.

I made it outside without anyone seeing me and ran as fast as I could towards the tree line.

Once I reached the trees, I quickly got undressed and placed my clothes into my backpack, before shifting into my wolf and sprinting towards the East.

It was 3:00am and I still had an hour to go before I would reach the cabin. I didn’t want to waste anymore time.

I ran as fast as I could, trying to figure out what I would do when I reached the cabin. I needed to make sure the Rogue Alpha kept his word and releases Clair in exchange for me.

Hopefully, when she’s safe I can kill the Rogue Alpha and this all will finally be behind me.

I had been running for over fifty minutes before I came to a stop. I decided decided to shift into my human form and get dressed before continuing towards the cabin.

I made sure one my dagger was holstered on my leg and the other was hidden in my boot, I swung my backpack over my shoulders before I continued to walk East.

After walking for another five minutes, I started to make out the shape of a building in the distance. As I got closer, I could tell that it was a small old wooden cabin. It was clear that no one had been living there, the grass was over grown all around it, some of the windows were broken and part of the roof was collapsed.

I hid behind some bushes and assessed the area. I couldn’t see or smell anyone, but I knew they had likely masked their scent.

I waited for a few minutes just watching, I was hoping to see someone, maybe get eyes on Clair. It would be nice to know she’s still alive before I move in and surrendered myself to them.

There wasn’t any movement and I couldn’t wait any longer, so I took a deep breath, withdrew my dagger from the holster and step out of the bushes. I walked in plain view towards the cabin.

I stopped when I was approximately thirty feet away.

“I’m here! Where is she?” I yelled loudly with anger in my voice, knowing that if anyone was inside they would of heard me.

After only a minute, a man walked out of the cabin, he was holding Clair’s arm, dragging her out with him. I let out a breath of relief when my eyes met hers, she was alive and appeared unharmed.

I could see the fear in her face and I noticed that her hands were restrained with cuffs. The man was holding a knife in his other hand to her throat.

My attention went back to the man that was holding onto her. I recognized him right away from the time, Clair and I were attacked by rogues, back at the B***d Moon Pack. He was the naked rogue that ordered the others to restrain us.

He looked to be around 25 years old, 6’3 and tall, with a muscular build. He had black messy hair and dark coloured eyes. There was a very noticeable scar that ran from his eyebrow, down his cheek and ended at his jawline. He was dressed in a pair of jeans and a black T-shirt.

I was distracted when I caught movement on both sides of my peripheral vision. I glanced both ways and found four more rogues surrounding me at a distance. I held my dagger out ready incase anyone trying to lunge at me.

“You came.” The man holding Clair said, with a grin on his faces.

“You said you would release her if I did.” I said, getting straight to the point.

“Let’s start with introductions. I’m Alpha Ryan, also known as the Rogue Alpha.” He introduced himself.

“I know who are, let her go.” I spat angrily at him.

I could see the fear in Clair’s face and the silent plea for me not to surrender myself. I have to though, I couldn’t live with myself if something happened to her, because of me.

“Why the rush?“ He asked, while smirking at me, clearly enjoying the power he held over me.

“I’ll cooperate, but not until you let her go.” I said firmly.

I watched as Alpha Ryan threw something at my feet. I glanced down and saw that it was a pair of cuffs.

“Put them on.” He ordered with a more serious tone.

“Not until you let her go.” I replied, keeping my voice firm.

“There’s five of us, and only one of you. I don’t think you’re in any position to command me.” He said while chuckling dryly.

I picked up the handcuffs from the ground and they instantly burned my fingers. I knew right away that they were silver laced handcuffs.

“Don’t do it Isabella, please!” Clair begged.

I had no choice, he’s right, I’m alone and if I don’t want him to kill Clair, I have to do this.

“You have my word Isabella, once the cuffs are on your wrists, I will let Clair go.” He said with a serious voice sounding sincere.

“I’m suppose to believe you?” I said while dryly chuckling.

“You have no other choice, what’s it going to be?” He asked, while bringing the knife closer to Clair’s throat. She gasped at his actions.

“Ok! I’m doing it.” I shouted, as I holstered my dagger and cuffed my own wrists.

I watched as he lowered the knife from Clair’s throat and pushed her forward releasing her from his hold. Clair ran to me.

“Don’t do this Isabella, run.” Clair said, with panic in her voice.

“We won’t make it, not cuffed. It’s ok Clair, you go, I’ll be ok.” I said trying to reassure her.

“No, I won’t leave you.” She said shaking her head from side to side frantically.

“Yes you will! I didn’t surrender myself so he could kidnap both of us, go to your mate, he needs you.” I orders leaving her no room to argue.

“I’ll come back with help, we will rescue you, Isabella, I promise.” Clair said with determination and I shot her a small sad smile. Not feeling confident that I would make it out of this alive.

“Run straight west. Don’t look back, please, don’t feel guilty, this was my choice.” I told her, as tears started to fall from my eyes.

“I love you.” Clair cried out.

“I love you too.” I replied, before Clair turned around and started to run as fast as she could. I continued to watch her until she disappeared at a distance in the trees.

I turned my attention back to Alpha Ryan who was walking towards me, he stopped when he was directly in front of me.

“I finally have you Isabella.” He said with a smirk before he withdrew something from his pocket.

It was a syringe. My eyes went wide when the realization hit me. He’s going to drug me.

“I’m cooperating, you don’t have to do that.” I practically begged, while panic set in.

The four other rogues had moved in on me, one grabbed me from behind and pinned my body against his. I started to thrash against him while another grabbed ahold of my hair to hold my head still.

Alpha Ryan brought the syringe to my neck and I felt the sting when the needle slid into my skin. I could feel the liquid burning in my veins as he plunged it inside of me.

“I’m going to kill!” Was the last thing I said before blackness took over and I was knocked out.
