Chapter 64: Who did it?

Isabella POV

When Alpha Drake came back to the room, I saw the serious look on his face and I knew something had happened.

When he told me, that The Rogue Alpha had escaped, my heart sunk. It only got worse, when he said that my brother had been poisoned. I started to internally panic. He’s the only family I have left, he can’t die.

I told Alpha Drake, that I needed to go to him and he didn’t argue. He had already made the arrangements, it made me feel good that he understood my needs, he wasn’t trying to stop me or lock me up, again.

We loaded up into a few SUV’s that were waiting outside the pack house and headed towards the B***d Moon Pack. Most of the drive, we spent in silence. My leg was shaking, almost like a nervous tick, that I had no control over.

Alpha Drake reached over and put his hand on my thigh, stopping the movement before giving it a little squeeze.

“He’s going to be ok, Isabella.” He said, trying to reassure me. I gave him an appreciative smile. His touch instantly helped to calm me down.

It was almost midnight, when we pulled up to the gates of the B***d Moon Pack. The guards must of been expecting us, because they immediate opened the gates and motioned for us to enter.

We kept driving, until we pulled up in front of the pack house.

I quickly got out of the vehicle and didn’t waste time, I ran towards the infirmary. I need to make sure Declan was ok.

Once I reached the infirmary, I went inside and the waiting area was full of people. I spotted Lilly and went over to her. She had red puffy eyes and looked like she had recently been crying. She looked at me and I engulfed her into a big hug.

“Is he ok?” I asked, with concern.

“He’s still unconscious. The doctor did some b***d tests and found that he had a high dose of wolfbane in his b***d. He’s going to be ok, but the doctor doesn’t know when he will wakeup.” She told me, in between sobs.

“Who did this?” I asked, anger now lacing my words.

“We don’t know yet, looks like his dinner was poisoned, so it’s likely someone who had access to his food.” She replied, looking concerned.

“We’ll replace out, I promise. Hang in there. I said, giving her a small reassuring smile.

Alpha Drake had come up beside me, while I spoke with Lilly and he heard our conversation.

“Jet, assemble the kitchen staff in the conference room. No one leaves until they have been interrogated.” Alpha Drake commanded.

“Yes Alpha, I’m on it.” Jet replied, and left the room.

I know Alpha Drake doesn’t want to take control on someone else’s territory, but with Declan unconscious and everyone else concerned for their Alpha’s well-being, no one had bothered to start an investigation. It is a time sensitive matter, we need to catch whoever did this, before they try to flea. I was happy that Alpha Drake stepped up and took control.

Whoever did this will pay, I thought to myself.

“Im going back to the pack house. I want to start interrogating the Omegas.” I said.

“I’m coming with you.” Alpha Drake replied.

“Lilly, if there’s any change with Declan’s condition, please update us.” I asked softly. She nodded, while wiping tears from her cheeks.

Alpha Drake and I, walked back to the pack house. I was furious, who did this? They will pay for what they have done.

I was relieved to hear that my brother was going to be ok, but I was still concerned, now we have to worry about Alpha Ryan being on the loose again. A shiver of disgust ran through my body, at the thought of him.

Once at the pack house, we headed straight for the conference room. Jet was standing outside talking to two warriors.

“Are they all here?” I asked Jet.

“All except for one. Jessie wasn’t in her room.” Jet said, with a frown.

“Well, until we replace her, let’s start interrogating the ones that are here.” I said, and Jet nodded.

“We can use Alpha Declan’s office. You guys go there and I’ll bring the first Omega to you.” Jared said and I nodded, before Alpha Drake and I headed to Declan’s office.

A few minutes later, Jet arrived with one of the young, female omegas. Her name was Sonia and she was 19.

“Sonia, please have a seat.” I instructed, and she complied.

Before I started to interrogate her, Jet spoke up.

“I just got a mind-link from one of the patrol warriors. They caught Jessie trying to leave the territory, they’re on their way here with her now.”

I frowned, knowing all fingers are pointing to Jessie right now. Why would she do this? She has always been treated well here. Why would she betray her Alpha?

“Jet, can you bring Sonia back to the conference room. Let’s chat with Jessie first, see if she was working alone, or if anyone else helped her.” Alpha Drake spoke up, while I had been lost in thought.

“Yes Alpha.” Jet replied, and left the room with Sonia.

Alpha Drake and I, waited in silence for the warriors to bring Jessie to the office.

We only had to wait around five minutes, before there was a knock at the door.

“Come in” I instructed.

The door opened and a nervous looking Jessie stood there. There were warriors on either side of her.

Anger started flooding through me, when I took in her demeanour. I could see the guilt on her face, I didn’t even have to ask, a single question to know she did it.

“Come in and sit down.” I ordered sternly. She complied and I could see fear in her eyes.

“I’m going to cut straight to the point, since I know you did it. Why?” I spat the question at her, with so much anger.

“He made me do it.” She cried out. I could see she was visibly trembling, but I didn’t have any pity for her. She poisoned my brother and basically help the Rogue Alpha escape.

“Who?” I asked, while glaring at her.

“T-Thomas, I d-don’t know his l-last name.” She stuttered out.

Damn it, so Beta Thomas survived as well.

“How do you know him?” I continued to question her.

“I slept with him a while back and I really liked him, I wanted to be his chosen mate. I hadn’t heard from him in years, but today he contacted me. I was stupid, I thought if I helped him, he really would take me as a mate, but instead, he used me and left me here.” She said bitterly, in between sobs.

“Where is he?” I asked.

“I don’t know.” She said, and I could tell she was being truthful.

She was stupid to help that bastard. Now she’s going to pay for her betrayal.

“Did anyone else help you?” I asked.

“No, I was the only one involved.” She answered, and I could tell she was being sincere.

“Take her to the dungeon.” I instructed the warriors and they nodded.

“No, you can’t do this, please, I’ll help you replace Thomas.” She begged while sobbing.

“You should of thought of the consequences, before you betrayed your alpha.” I spat angrily at her.

I watched the office door fly open and Lilly stood in the door way, radiating with anger.

“Is she the one?” Lilly asked angrily, and never took her eyes off Jessie.

“Yes.” I replied.

I watch Lilly pulled her fist back and punch Jessie in the face. I heard bone crunching on impact and I naturally cringed at the sound, before my eyes opened wide in shock. Holy s**t, the quiet and fragile Lilly, just did that. I glanced over at Alpha Drake and he had the same shocked look. That’s my girl, I thought proudly to myself, after the initial shock wore off.

“Take her away.” I ordered and the warriors left the office, dragging a screaming Jessie with them.

“Are you ok?” I asked Lilly softly, while wrapping her in a hug.

“Ya, sorry my wolf took over there for a minute. She replied sheepishly.

“Oh god, don’t apologize. She had that coming and more.” I replied reassuringly.

“He’s awake. I just came back to let you guys know and I heard the commotion.” Lilly said.

“Let’s go see him.” I replied, as I practically ran from the office, I needed to see with my own eyes that he was ok.

Alpha Drake followed behind me.

Once we reached the infirmary, I let Lilly lead the way, since I didn’t know what room Declan was in.

She walked to the last door at the end of the hall and opened the door. I walked in behind her and Declan was lying on the bed awake. I let out a breath of relief, when I saw him.

I ran over to him and embraced him in a tight hug.

“Oh my goddess, your ok. I was so worried.” I practically squealed at him.

“I am. I still can’t believe, one of my own people did this.” He replied, disbelief clear on his face.

“Ya she’s in cells. It was Jessie.” I told him and his eyes went wide in shock.

“Why? I thought we treated her well here.” He said while shaking his head still in disbelief.

I explained everything to him and it made more sense when I was done. Ultimately, she was so naive she let him use her and now she’s going to pay for it.

“We will hold a trial for her tomorrow.” Declan announced, to all of us in the room. I nodded.

“Well, we will let you get some rest. Alpha Drake and I, will stay here until your back on your feet.” I told him while patting his shoulder.

“Thanks for coming, Bella.” He said giving me a smile.

“Oh, and your woman is badass. She punched Jessie so hard in the face, she broke her nose.” I said, with a proud grin on my face. His eyes when wide in shock, as he glanced over at Lilly, who was blushing at the attention. I chuckled at how cute she was.

We were all distracted, when a squealing Clair came running in the room and jumped on top of Declan, giving him a big hug.

I froze, when I heard a loud growl. I looked over to replace, Lilly blushing again.

“Sorry, my wolf is a little possessive.” Lilly said sheepishly, while glancing at Clair.

Clair let go of Declan and threw her hands up in surrender. Everyone started to laugh and Lilly’s blush got darker, if that’s even possible.

I like her wolf, I thought to myself.

Everyone except for Lilly, left Declan’s hospital room so he could rest. Alpha Drake and I headed to my old room. It’s been a long night and it’s time to get some sleep.
