The Alpha’s Feisty Mate -
Chapter 66: The offer
Alpha Drake POV
Isabella and I, were having lunch with Lilly and Alpha Declan, when I got a call from Erik.
He sounded almost panicked on the phone. It threw me off, Erik is such a calm collect guy, something must of happened.
He proceeded to tell me, that patrol had caught a rogue she-wolf trespassing on our territory. What made my jaw drop though, was when he told me that she was his mate. He sounded truly conflicted.
I asked him what he did with her, I could hear the pain is his voice, when he replied, that he had locked her up in the dungeon. Good, I thought to myself. I need to interrogate her, before I let her have access to my territory.
I knew Erik must be struggling. I mean, locking up your own mate in the dungeon, isn’t an easy task. He made the right chose for now, thought.
Isabella and I had plan on staying another night at the B***d Moon pack, but now, I think we need to head back immediately.
After hanging up with Erik, I update Isabella on the call. Her eyes when wide in shock, when I told her the news.
“I think we need to go back home, I don’t know how long Erik will survive, having his mate locked up.” I told her, with concern in my voice.
“Ya, I agree, I can’t believe his mate is a rogue.” Isabella said, while frowning in disbelief.
I mind-linked Jared, to get the warriors and vehicles ready. I told him we would be leave in a half hour, he sounded surprised, but didn’t question me. He just told me that he was on it.
We took sometime, to say goodbye to Alpha Declan and Lilly. I could see that Isabella was disappointed. I’m sure she would of enjoyed spending some more time with them, but unfortunately, it’s important we get back, for Erik’s sake.
Isabella and I, made our way out of the pack house and found Jared and Clair, waiting with the warriors.
I briefed, Jared and Clair on why we needed to leave and they had the same shocked expression, as Isabella and I had.
Once everyone was loaded up into the SUV’s, we wasted no time and took off towards the Crescent Moon Pack.
It was another long drive and I really hope we don’t need to make it again, not for a while at least. All I want right now, was to have some damn alone time, with my mate.
Isabella was quiet on the ride back. I could tell she was frustrated. I don’t blame her, I was too.
When we are done dealing with Erik’s mate, I’m locking myself and Isabella up in our room and we aren’t leaving it, no matter what happens.
We pulled up to the front of my pack house and I could see a stressed out Erik, pacing outside the front doors.
Isabella and I, got out of the vehicle and made our way to him.
“You ok, buddy?” I asked, while patting his shoulders.
“No, I locked her in a damn cell. She won’t forgive me. That’s not how you treat your mate.” He blurted out and I could hear, the desperation in his voice.
Isabella hugged Erik and I could tell, she was just trying to comfort him. I didn’t liked seeing her hug him, my possessive side was getting the better of me, but I let it go. I knew that he needed some comforting.
“Let’s go talk to your mate.” I said and Erik nodded quickly, like he was anxious to get this over with.
“Her name’s Trish.” Erik said with a low voice and informed us what he had learned from her so far. I nodded to him, acknowledging all the information.
The three of us, made our way down to the dungeon. We walked over to a cell, that had a little she-wolf restrained to a chair inside. She was just a tiny little thing. I wondered, how she became a rogue.
I instructed the warrior on guard, to unlock the cell door and he complied. We walk in and stood in front of the she-wolf. I was just watching her, trying to get a feel for her. I didn’t miss the powerful aura that surrounded her. I believe she came from a high ranking bloodline.
“You must be the Alpha.” The little she-wolf named Trish said, with smirk. She was trying to act tough, but I could sense how nervous and scared she truly was.
“I am.” I replied shortly.
“Who’s blondie?” She asked, while nodding her head in Isabella’s direction. Isabella growled at her and before I could respond, Isabella spoke.
“I’m going to be the Luna of this pack, show some respect, rogue.” She spat out and Trish just rolled her eyes, at Isabella.
I had to grab Isabella’s arm, as she tried to get closer to Trish. Trish laughed, at Isabella’s angry state.
I wondered why Isabella was so agitated, she would be acting the same way, if the tables were turned. This little she-wolf reminds me a lot of Isabella, they have the same defiant and stubborn will. That’s probably why they’re clashing, I thought to myself and chuckled.
Erik was just pacing around the cell, I could see how hard this was on him. I lost count of the amount of times he ran his fingers through his hair.
“Are you part of the Rogue Alphas pack?” I questioned, getting straight to the point.
“Who? I’m a rogue, a lone wolf, I don’t have a pack.” She spat out, with a confused frown. I could tell she didn’t know what I was talking about. She wasn’t lying to me.
“Why were you on my pack territory?” I asked her, in a serious voice.
“I told, MATE, over here, that I was hunting when your warriors attacked me. I didn’t realize I had enter pack territory.” She replied, while emphasizing the word mate. I could hear the irritation in her voice.
“Why are you a rogue.” Isabella asked pointedly.
“None of your damn business.” Trish replied defiantly. Once again, I had to hold Isabella back. I could feel the rage radiating from her, I watched as Isabella let out a huff and storm out of the cell, angrily. I turned my attention back to Trish.
“Trish, I’m going to give you, one warning. If you ever want to get out do this cell, I strongly suggest, you answer all of our questions and truthfully.” I told her in a stern voice and she rolled her eyes at me. I really had to work hard at keeping a serious face, it was almost comical how much she was a spitting image of Isabella.
“Fine, I was part of the Hillside Pack, my father is the Alpha of the pack. He made a treaty with a neighbouring pack Alpha. He basically, was giving me away to that Alpha, as his chosen mate. I refused, so he gave me an ultimatum, go through with the mating process or go rogue, and here I am.” She replied with a sarcastic smirk. I heard Erik growl possessively, not liking what she had said.
I watched her face and she showed no signs of lying. She actually looked hurt by her own words and was doing her best to hide it. I can only imagine that it’s a sensitive topic. I mean, how does your own father, mate you off to someone against your will.
“How long have you been a rogue.” Erik spoke for the first time, softly. I could see the pity in his eyes for his mate.
“It’s been six months, I left on my 19th birthday.” She replied, sounding bored, but I could read right through her act. She didn’t like having the talk about her past.
“Do you have any intention of bring harm to my pack?” I asked, and watched her face carefully, as she processed my question.
“No, I was honestly hunting. I had no clue that I had entered your territory. I thought your dumbass warriors, where trying to kill me. “She replied, with a frustrated tone. I believed her, she wasn’t very good at masking her emotions. I know if she had been deceitful, I would of been able to tell.
‘I don’t think she’s lying. What do you think?’ Erik mind-linked me.
‘I think she’s telling the truth.’ I replied.
“I know you two are talking about me.” Trish spat out, while glaring between Erik and I. She clearly saw our eyes glazed over when we mind-linked.
“I’m going to make you an offer, think about about it, before you give me your answer” I said. She didn’t say anything, she had a curious look on her face and her head was tilted to the side, as she waited for me to continue.
“I’m offer you a place in my pack. I’ll provide you with everything you need. My Gamma, Erik here, will be in charge of keeping an eye on you for a probationary period, until you earn my trust.” I said to her and watched as processed my offer.
“And if I refuse?” She asked with a frown, but I could already tell, she was excited at the idea of not having to be a rogue anymore. She’s just like Isabella, she wants to know that it’s her chose and nothing is being force on her.
“I’ll have you released at the border and you’ll be free, to continue living as a rogue.” I replied, while shrugging my shoulders, making it look like I was indifferent, to whatever choice me made.
I saw Erik’s head whip in my direction, he looked surprised and concerned, at the offer I made Trish. I knew what I was doing, I had no doubt that she was going to accept my offer, she’s just like Isabella, she just needs to feel in control of her own life.
‘Trust me.’ I mind-linked Erik.
‘You better know what your doing.’ He replied.
Trish was quiet for a few minutes, I could tell she was processing my offer.
“I won’t be forced to mate with him?” She asked me with a frown, while nodding her head in Erik’s direction.
“No.” Is all I said.
“Fine, I accept your offer.” She replied. I heard Erik let out a breath of relief, at her words.
“Erik, why don’t you release Trish from the restraints and show her to your room.” I directed Erik and he nodded, before approaching Trish.
“Wait, you said I don’t need to mate with him?” She asked with a concerned tone, glancing between Erik and I.
“You don’t, but think of him as your probation officer. Until you earn my trust, he’ll always be by your side. I can have a cot brought up to room, if that’s what your worried about.” I answered her nonchalantly. I heard her huff in frustration, but she didn’t say anything further.
Erik started unlocking the restraints, that were securing Trish to the chair.
“I can smell that Blondie all over you.” Trish growled out possessively and I saw Erik flint at her words. He was probably regretting that hug, he had with Isabella earlier.
It’s your turn Erik, to figure out how to make it work with a feisty mate, I chuckled to myself, as I left the cell and the two new lovebirds alone.
