The Alpha’s Feisty Mate
Chapter 89: I need you

Alpha Drake POV

When Alpha Theo told me, in front of everyone, that Jill was two months pregnant. My heart literal stopped beating. I was doing the math in my head, trying to figure out, if there was any possibility that she was telling the truth. If she’s not lying, that means she got pregnant before I met Isabella and I could be the father.

Isabella had stormed out of the conference room, shortly after Alpha Theo divulged the information. I don’t blame her one bit. I was so shocked, that I couldn’t respond to Alpha Theo, or deny the allegations. It was true that I had slept with Jill, I wasn’t going to lie about that. I’m not proud of my actions, but I’ll take responsibility for them, if she is pregnant with my child.

Panic started to rise within me, my biggest concern was Isabella. What is going through her head? The last think I wanted to do, was hurt her and I know that’s exactly what I did.

After Isabella stormed out of the conference room, things got even more intense. I lost control and grabbed Alpha Theo by the collar of his shirt, I threaten war on him and his pack, if I found out that he was lying.

He swore on the moon goddess, that Jill was pregnant. He said, that not only is she starting to show, but that his pack doctor assessed her and confirmed it. Werewolf pregnancies, are different than humans ones, a full term pup is ready after six months, instead of nine months. That means, at two months, she should already have a baby bump.

I dragged Alpha Theo outside and told him to leave my territory, he didn’t argue and he got into his vehicle with the rest of his men. They left without further incident.

When I threatened war, I saw a hint of fear in his eyes, he knew that I wasn’t joking. If we went to war, my pack would destroy his. We are double the size and my warriors are better trained than his.

Hopefully, the fear will make him a bit more cooperative with me, when it comes to getting a DNA test done.

I mind-linked Clair and instructed her to replace Isabella immediately. I knew that Isabella would need someone to comfort her right now, but that she wouldn’t want it to be me. I sighed, the guilt inside of me was strong, I hated that I was the cause of her pain.

I told all the other Alphas, that the meeting was over and I wanted them all to leave. I apologized to them for the inconvenience, some looked irritated and others had pity in their eyes, for the situation I was in.

Most Alphas had already left, there were only a few left. Alpha Thomas was one of them and he approach me.

“Alpha Drake, I don’t know if what Alpha Theo said is true or not, but I may be able to help you replace out.” Alpha Thomas said, in a low voice, so no one else could hear him.

“How could you help?” I asked curiously.

“Well, Alpha Theo’s Beta, is mated to a she-wolf from my pack. I was actually quite close with her, we were good friends, before she left my pack to live with her mate. We still stay in touch and she constantly complains about Alpha Theo’s leadership skills. She’s not shy, about expressing her distaste for the man. I’m sure she would be more than willing to keep her ears open for me, regarding this Jill character.” Alpha Thomas said, with a devilish smirk on his face.

This could really be useful, if his friend is the Beta female, she would be around Alpha Theo all the time and would definitely hear a lot of private matters. Hope started to course through me, as I thought about his offer.

“Why would you be willing to help me? What’s in it for you?” I asked curiously, I didn’t really know Alpha Thomas that well. I felt a little suspicious, at his sudden offer to help.

“Honestly, my offer is more to help Isabella replace out the truth, she deserves it. Our packs were very close when we were growing up, we would help each other out regularly. Now that she’s the Luna of this pack. I would like to keep our packs on good terms, so we can continue helping each other when needed.” Alpha Thomas said truthfully.

It bothered me how close he was with Isabella, but now was not the time for me to be jealous. He’s absolutely right, Isabella deserves the truth, even if that means that the baby is mine.

“Thank you Alpha Thomas, I would take any help I can get at this point. If you can get in touch with your contact, I would be very grateful. I would be indebted to you, if she can help me.” I replied sincerely.

“I’ll be in touch Alpha Drake, just remember, Alpha Theo is a snake and everything I’ve heard about this Jill girl, she’s not far behind him. I wouldn’t be surprise, if this is all a hoax to stir the pot. You know, cause problems with you and your Luna. Keep your head up, we will get some answers.” Alpha Thomas said and I was actually appreciative of his words. I hope he’s right.

“Thank you, safe travels Alpha.” I replied and he nodded his heads, before getting into his SUV with his men.

Once all the Alphas were gone, I was left alone with Jared. I let out a heavy sigh, what kind of mess have I gotten myself into?

“Boss, you ok?” Jared asked, concern clear on his face.

“Not really, I need to figure this mess out and fast.” I replied, while running my hands over my face.

“If you want to speak with Isabella, Clair mind-linked me a little while ago and said that they were in the garden.” Jared said and I could see the pity in his eyes, when he looked at me.

“Thanks, I’ll go and talk to her.” I replied, as I left his side and walked towards the garden.

I found Isabella sitting on a bench, Clair was on one side and Trish the other.

I was relieved, when Isabella agreed to talk with me. I really didn’t want her to shut me out.

Trish and Clair, got up and left us alone. I didn’t miss the glare Trish gave me on the way by, but I knew I deserved it.

I could tell that Isabella had been cry, her cheeks were red and so were her eyes. It broke my heart, knowing that I was responsible for her pain. She wasn’t crying anymore, she looked empty, like the fire within her, had burnt out and there was nothing left for her to feel.

We, talked a little, but at the end, she told me that she was going to stay with her brother for a few days, to clear her mind. I really don’t blame her. I don’t want her to go, but I know she needs some time. My biggest fear, is that she won’t come back. The thought alone, brought tears to my eyes. I’m nothing without her, she the other half of my soul. I can’t lose her.

She left me alone in the garden. I had so many thoughts running through my head.

How do I get Jill, to take a DNA test and even more importantly, one that I’m sure hasn’t been tampered with? I’ve heard horror stories, doctors being paid off, to issue false results. I won’t let that happen.

Maybe, Alpha Thomas’s contact will overhear something useful. I can’t rely on her alone though. Who knows if she’ll even hear anything, it would certainly help if she did, but I have to have a backup plan incase she doesn’t.

As for Isabella, I’m going to let her go to her brothers and have faith in our relationship, that she will come back to me. I think that’s all I can do, she’s strong and independent, she needs to figure out what’s best for her, on her own. I’m going to miss her, that I know for sure.

My wolf hasn’t talked to me, since the news came out. He hates the mess that I got us into and I don’t even blame him, this is all my fault.

I had been sitting in the garden alone, for almost an hour completely lost in thought. When I got a mind-link.

‘Hey boss, Isabella is about to leave. What do you want us to do.’ Jared asked, through the link.

‘Nothing, I’m on my way to say goodbye.” I replied, feeling defeated.

I quickly got up and walked to the front of the pack house, just as Isabella was getting into the driver seat of a black SUV.

I walked up to the open window of the vehicle, so that I could see her one last time, before she left.

“I’m so sorry about all of this Isabella. I love you so much. I know you need to go, I won’t try and stop you, but please come back. I’m nothing, if I don’t have you in my life, I need you. I’m going to do everything in my power, to get answers while you’re gone.” I said to her, with desperation clear in my voice.

She didn’t look at me while I was talking, but once I was done, she finally looked my way. I could see so much confusion in eyes, as well as pain and anger.

“I’m the Luna of this pack, I will be back. I swore an oath and I would never turn my back on my people. I just need space and time to myself. I don’t want to be around, while you’re in contact with Jill. Whether it be direct or indirect, It just hurts to much.” She replied, I could now see the sadness in her eyes. I feel like the worst mate in the world. Who puts the other half of their soul, through something like this?

“I understand, take the time you need. I will be here, waiting for you when you’re ready to come home.” I replied softly. She glanced at me one last time and I could see hesitation in her eyes, like she was debating if she wanted to stay or go. She ended up choosing the later and I watched, as she drove away from me.

I need to come up with a plan and figure out if Jill is lying, or telling the truth. First, I need to contact Alpha Theo and arrange a DNA test. I want one of my trusted doctors, to conduct the test and I will be present for it. If she refuses the test, that will be a pretty good indicator that she’s lying.

I made my way back inside the pack house and to my office. It’s time to get everything organized, if Jill is lying, I’m going to replace out.
