Prologue

Skylar's POV

Hi, I'm Skylar Rose. My pack used to love me and treat me well until thedeath of my parents when I was six years old. The new Alpha blamedme for their deaths seeing as they were the Alpha and Luna of the packbefore my father's Beta had to take over as Alpha after they died anduntil the next Alpha comes of age to take over the pack. My parentsdied protecting me because I couldn't shift at the age of six. In our packa wolf can only shift after they turn ten and I remember when I shiftedfor the first time, the pain was so intense that I thought I was going todie from it. On my tenth birthday I was laying in my bed softly cryingafter I had received a beating for accidentally turning all the packswhite clothes red and for slightly burning the packs dinner. They onlyallowed me to have two meals a day, one meal after I'm done the packsbreakfast dishes and the other meal I'm allowed to have is aftereveryone is done eating dinner and then only after all my chores aredone for the day. Anyways back to the night that I shifted for the firsttime. It hurt like hell and I knew that if I cried out from the pain I wasfeeling I would get another beating just for interrupting the packssleep. As my bones started to break and move into weird and awkwardpositions and angles I suddenly head a strange voice in my mind.

It's okaii Skylar don't be scared I'm Athena, your wolf. Now Skylar youare a very rare and special wolf, you are the combination of wolf,demon, and sorceress so wolves like you are called a hybrid.’ Athenasaid

'Okaii how do I turn back into my human self?" I asked my wolf

“Just think of your human self and also no one can know about youbeing a hybrid Skylar so I will hide your scent and make it seem toothers that you are still human.’ She says to me

“Thank you Athena’ I say to her and as I did what she told me to do Ithink of myself as human and I shift back into my human form. Once Iwas done shifting I realized that I was naked, so I went and put onsome pajama shorts and a tank top and layed in my bed which was justa mattress on the floor thinking about how beautiful my wolf is.Personally I'm 5'8", have reddish gold eyes with medium length bloodred hair that reaches the middle of my back. Also my blood red hair hasblack highlights throughout it. I don't dye my hair because why would Ibut once I shifted my blonde hair turned to the blood red and blackthat it now is. Since no one is to know that I had finally shifted when I'maround other people I make my hair go back to the blonde that it wasbefore, I also had to change my eye colour from the reddish gold itcurrently is back to the dull gold colour it was before I shifted. I alwayswished to go to school but my Alpha never allowed me to go, but Ieventually was able to sneak some online schooling in when no onewas around and while they were sleeping and even though I'm 17 I hadalready graduated from high school. All the clothing that I owned arethe discarded clothes that none of the pack girls wanted anymore somy wardrobe consisted mainly of some leggings, a couple t-shirts, 2tank tops, a couple skirts and a few other items along with a pair ofhigh tops and a pair of combat boots. My duties around the packhouse consist of setting up for parties, cooking, doing laundry,vacuuming, dusting, mopping, cleaning and polishing all of the floorsand the stair case and railing.

Once I finish all of my chores for the day I go and lay in my bed anddream about the day I turn 18 and am able to finally replace my mate andhope that once I replace him he will take me away from this awful place.What I didn't realize was that once I found him what was supposed tobe the best day of my life turned into my worst nightmare.
