The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart (Brittany and Isaac) -
) Chapter 4
Isaac finished handling the company's affairs, and it was getting late, so he planned to go back home.
Nathan followed him, "Mr. Salter, judging by the current situation, Gavin Salter won't last much longer. After half a year at most, the entire Salter family will soon be yours."- "Keep an eye on it."
Some of the Salter family members were restless. What he had to do now was to quell all the civil strife and got back what belonged to him.
After discussing business, Nathan, driven by curiosity about Brittany, asked, "Mr. Salter, are you really married to Ms. Dustin?"
"Yes. Hide our marriage information and don't spread it outside." Isaac didn't plan on publicizing this marriage, nor did he think it would last. Nathan nodded, intending to leave, but he didn't want to meet a pair of surprised eyes.
"Mr. Salter, it seems Ms. Dustin saw us together!"
...
Brittany hadn't expected to meet Isaac here and instinctively stood up.
"Bri, where are you going?"
"Nothing much, are you full? If so, get back to work." Brittany replied with a smile.
Hannah was indeed not finished. She wiped her mouth and left quickly. Brittany tidied up and, carrying her lunchbox, left the café heading towards Isaac.
"Zakky, what are you doing here?"
Isaac looked as usual: "I'm here to apply for a job."
Nathan was shocked.
Apply for a job? Mr. Salter still needed to apply for a job?
"Who's this gentleman?"
Brittany recognized Nathan. They had met in the alley that morning.
Isaac looked at Nathan, and ordered him to replace any reason with his eyes not to reveal his identity.
Nathan immediately said seriously, "Hello Miss, I'm Nathan from Grandeur Capital. Mr. Salter just came to our consortium for an interview, offended our big boss, and asked me to send him out personally." Isaac's gaze was icy.
The next second, Nathan commanded discontentedly, "Mr. Salter, not just anyone can join Grandeur Capital. Please leave!"
Nathan thought, "I'm sorry, Mr. Salter. I'm innocent too!"
Nathan endured the fear of chills down his spine, dropped the words, and left proudly! Brittany looked at Isaac, her face grim. It seemed he really had offended the big boss.
"Zakky, don't worry. I've spoken to my friend, she'll put in a good word for you. It'll be fine."
"Your friend?"
"Yes, Hannah from HR." Brittany said without a hint of wariness, "Let's go, we should head back."
Isaac knew Hannah, the Chester family's young lady, whose personal abilities were said to be quite good.
Once they were in the car, Isaac remained silent. Brittany kept stealing glances at him, thinking he was still worried about his future.
"Actually, Grandeur Capital isn't the best choice."
Brittany tried to console him, "Even though the company is huge, the workload is also substantial. Even if you get in and earn a lot, you won't be happy!" Isaac was speechless.
He was used to working under high pressure.
"Look at my friend Hannah, she hasn't been home for a week."
Brittany tried to list all the downsides of working at Grandeur Capital in an attempt to comfort Isaac.
Little did she know, Isaac's face was getting grimmer.
High work pressure, internal strife for power, great competitive pressure within the industry, office love triangles... Even the big boss is the devil talk..
Hannah really talked about everything!"
"Also, I heard from Hannah that they just got a new boss who's pretty ruthless. There's likely to be a big layoff!"
"She's not wrong about that," Isaac cut in.
"How do you know?" Brittany looked at him.
"Whenever a new boss takes over, there's bound to be a major shakeup," Isaac said coldly. "And tell your friend to be careful with what she says. Otherwise, she'll get fired sooner or later." What a gossip!
Brittany felt a chill from his words and mumbled, "Got it."
Isaac took out his phone and contacted Nathan, "Give Hannah a warning. Tell her to watch her words and actions."
Nathan was confused.
Who's Hannah?
After checking up on Hannah, Nathan found out she's the young lady of the Chester family, a key member of HR. Did she offend Mr. Salter?
Back at the office from the café, Hannah was about to dive into her next round of work.
Her superior, a female supervisor, came over and tapped her desk, "Hannah, come with me."
Hannah was flustered. Did something go wrong with the paperwork she submitted in the afternoon?
Following the supervisor into her office, Hannah dutifully poured a cup of tea, "My lady, what can I do for you?"
The supervisor was also puzzled. Nathan had asked her to speak with Hannah out of the blue.
And the topic was to warn her about her behavior!?
"Hannah, you're competent and should value this precious work opportunity. Also, be careful with what you say at work. If anything goes wrong, even I can't protect you."
The supervisor wondered if Hannah had offended the big boss!
Otherwise, Nathan wouldn't be able to ask her to warn Hannah.
Hannah was stunned but didn't dare to say, "Boss, don't worry. I'll be cautious with my words and actions in the future."
The supervisor only felt relieved then, "Do you know the big boss?"
"Not at all, absolutely no connection."
The Chester family was nothing compared to Grandeur Capital. How would she have the chance to know the big boss?
"You may leave now."
Hannah had barely left the office when she immediately turned to Brittany to vent her grievances, "Bri, what's going on? I think I've been set up. My supervisor just had a word with me and told me to watch my tongue. Do you think I offended someone??!" Brittany choked., then said, "You're too gossip, so talk less in the future."
Hannah cried out in distress, "But gossiping is so much fun, I just wanted to share with you!"
With her character, she was warned only once, no loss! Back at the apartment, Isaac grabbed his pajamas and headed for the bathroom. When he came out, Brittany was still comforting Hannah. "You done in the shower?"
Isaac nodded, "Don't mess with the toiletries in the bathroom."
Brittany nodded and got up to go to the bathroom.
The bathroom was tiny, only a third the size of the one at her place, but she didn't mind.
Isaac sat in the living room when he received a message from Nathan, "Mr. Salter, Hannah has been warned. You can rest easy."
Isaac typed back, "Did I offend anyone at the interview?"
He remembered what Nathan had told him.
Nathan was taken aback and quickly explained, "Mr. Salter, I did this for your own good. You wanted to keep your identity a secret, how would I explain why I personally escorted you out?" "Go to the finance department and deduct half a month's bonus."
Nathan whimpered, "Got it."
Footsteps sounded and Brittany emerged from the bathroom.
Isaac instinctively looked up to see her.
She was wearing a light pink pajama set, slightly low-cut, revealing a small patch of delicate skin.
Her hair was piled high, exposing her almost perfect neck.
Her waist was slender, and her long legs were glossy and delicate. The dampness added an extra touch of allure.
Isaac, usually a cold person, was replaceing it hard to remain indifferent.
So he averted his eyes and calmly said, "It's getting late. You should get some rest."
Brittany didn't notice his gaze. She had just returned to her room when she received a phone call.
"Brittany, come to the office tomorrow!" It was Robert.
"Got it."
"And you have to divorce that low-life you're married to and marry Johnny! Or else, you'd better wait--" Before Robert could finish, Brittany hung up on him and blocked his number. Dream on if he thought he could sell her off!
