Brittany had downed half a bottle of liquor and was a little drunk. Her phone rang but she didn't answer the call.
She plucked up her courage and downed another full bottle, her face flushing red, even struggling to stand upright: "Guys, I'm done drinking."
She felt like a storm was brewing in her stomach, covered her mouth, and bolted out of the room.
Johnny snickered, replaceing the situation rather amusing.
Wesley noticed Brittany's abrupt exit, signaling his secretary to follow her, just in case.
"Zac, you gonna say something?"
Calling and then staying silent?
Isaac thought he heard Brittany's voice, but dismissed it as unlikely.
Brittany and Wesley had nothing to do with each other.
"I remember you had a high-quality agate statue?"
"Why, do you want to give it away?"
Wesley was unfazed.
"My grandma is coming this weekend. Send the statue over, Nathan will handle the check."
Despite his best efforts to hide his married status, unfortunately, Grace Salter found out and insisted on visiting. He had no choice but to oblige.
Isaac could hear noise in the background and knew Wesley was socializing. He hung up after he finished speaking.
Wesley put away his phone, turning to Johnny: "Johnny, let's sign the contract."
The deal was practically done anyway. Johnny was just giving Brittany a hard time because he didn't want to offend the Tueley family.
Contract signed, Wesley got up to leave.
The secretary was waiting outside the restroom: "Ms. Dustin hasn't come out yet."
Wesley handed the documents to his secretary, planning to check on Brittany. It would be a real shame if she got into trouble because she drank too much. After all, he was quite taken by her looks!
Brittany staggered out, hives breaking out all over her body, tears in her eyes from crying.
Wesley asked, "Are you allergic to alcohol?"
He cursed under his breath, thinking how recklessly she had drunk despite her allergy.
Did she have a death wish?
Brittany pushed Wesley away, leaning against the wall, her stomach cramping: "I got the deal. You're using my design."
Wesley rolled his eyes in frustration: "Have you lost your mind? Drinking to the point of risking your life?"
She was crazy!
Brittany looked at him determinedly: "The design."
"Fine, I'll sign the contract. You're really fearless!"
Wesley had no idea Brittany was allergic to alcohol, yet she had downed so much!
"What are you waiting for? Get her in the car, take her home!"
His secretary immediately escorted Brittany away. Once in the car, the smell of alcohol was overpowering. Wesley, being a clean freak, held his nose as he got in. Brittany felt a lot better after throwing up.
Now she lay quietly in the backseat, breathing steadily. Hives covered her skin, making her look shockingly ill. Wesley watched her, annoyed: "If she had mentioned her allergy earlier, who would have made her drink?" Upon reaching Brittany's apartment complex, she stumbled out of the car.
"Mr. Tueley, thank you."
The secretary was still worried about her, while Wesley behind her grumbled: "Let's go, it stinks!"
He'd done plenty just by bringing her home. That's it!
The black car pulled away and left.
Brittany, leaning on the handrail, slowly climbed the stairs.
By the fifth floor, Brittany was itching all over, the hives causing her great pain.
She shakily pulled out her keys and opened the door--
"And you actually came back?"
Isaac hadn't expected Brittany to come home this late, reeking of alcohol.
He frowned: "Did you drink a lot?"
He remembered the first time they met, she was also dead drunk.
Leaning against the door, Brittany squinted her sleepy eyes open and called out: "Zakky--"
She stumbled.
Before Isaac could get to her, she fell straight to the ground, moaning in pain: "It hurts."
He stepped forward, closed the door, and helped Brittany to the living room.
Noticing the hives on her neck, he frowned.
Then he set her down on the couch, went into the kitchen, and brewed a cup of hangover soup.
When he came out with the soup, Brittany was already asleep.
Lying on the couch, her skin was pinkish, her eyebrows slightly furrowed.
Perhaps due to stomach discomfort, her hand was on her belly, her breaths shallow.
Isaac walked over, gently patting her face: "Brittany, wake up, have some hangover soup." Brittany didn't respond.
He reached out, gently nudging her--
"Zakky, you're back! Ugh!"
Brittany suddenly woke up, hugged his waist, and threw up.
"Brittany!"
Isaac was so mad that his veins were popping. She actually threw up on him!
He was a clean freak!
After throwing up, Brittany apparently felt a lot better and fell straight back to sleep.
Resigned, Isaac took off his soiled clothes and entered the bathroom. He took a shower three times and didn't come out until he was sure he didn't smell. The living room was in a mess.
Holding back his impatience, he cleaned everything up before going for another shower.
As for the instigator of all this, she was sound asleep, occasionally pouting, which was both annoying and irritating.
He retreated to his room, closed his eyes, but all he could see were those beautiful eyes, as if he were under a spell.
When Brittany woke up, she was sore all over, still in her clothes from the previous night, reeking of alcohol.
She forced herself to get up and saw hangover soup on the table. Probably made by Isaac.
She sniffed herself and felt a bit nauseous, so she went to her room to get clothes and headed to the bathroom.
After showering, she saw Isaac's clothes in the laundry basket, stained with vomit.
Brittany seemed to remember that she had thrown up on him last night!
How embarrassing!
Finally settling down, Brittany came out to see Isaac's handsome and icy face, and couldn't help but laugh: "Zakky, I drank too much last night. I'm sorry." Isaac was very helpless: "If you get drunk again, don't bother coming back."
It's been less than half a month and she's already been drunk twice!
Brittany knew she messed up. Glancing at the clock, she said, "It's still early, how about I whip up some breakfast as a thank you for taking care of me and an apology?"
Isaac thought to himself, "is this the only meal he needs?"
Though that was his thought, his body responded honestly.
"What ever."Seeing him head to the table, Brittany heaved a sigh of relief. Then she pulled out eggs, toast, and peanut butter to make sandwiches, followed by two bowls of seafood soup. Hearing the bustling sounds in the kitchen, Isaac got up, fetched the coffee beans, and headed to the kitchen as well.
He grabbed the coffee maker and started brewing.
Brittany turned around and saw his hand.
His hands were exceptionally handsome, with clear knuckles, long and clean fingers, neatly rounded and polished nails, delicate skin, yet with a hint of strength.
Isaac noticed her looking at him and suddenly said, "My grandma is coming this weekend."
Brittany remembered, "Is your grandma feeling any better?"
She knew that Isaac's grandma was in the hospital when they rushed into marriage. She had wanted to visit his grandma, but since he never mentioned it, she didn't say anything. After all, their marriage was a sham.
Isaac opened his mouth slightly, "Actually, my grandma is not..."
He was about to say that the old lady was very healthy and it was not once or twice she pretended to be sick.
However, his phone suddenly rang, it was Nathan.
After a few words from Nathan on the other end, Isaac stepped out of the kitchen, his voice low.
"Got it. Everything according to the previous plan."
Seeing him busy, Brittany didn't disturb him. She finished preparing breakfast, went to the dining room, and started eating.
By the time Isaac finished his call, Brittany was already full.
She went back to her room and changed a set of clothes, and applied medicine to the rash on her body. When she came out, she said to him, "I'm off to work."
Isaac responded, watching her leave.
Brittany walked down the stairs.
Not far away, a black luxury car was parked with its doors closed, but the window rolled down.
Grace looked refreshed, her eyes eagerly fixed on Brittany.
"Are you sure, this is my grandson's wife?"
