Piper nodded meekly, "I understand, Mom."

Once Mrs. Walker left, Piper wiped away her tears and dialed the private investigator's number, "How's the investigation going?"

"Brittany was seen visiting the Lynette Family Private Clinic for a comprehensive health examination." The detective shared, "One of the tests was a pregnancy test." "Boom-"

"Pregnancy test?"

"Yes, Brittany is pregnant."

Piper felt like she struck gold, "Do we have solid evidence?"

"Not yet, but a woman doesn't just visit an obstetrician for no reason." The detective wasn't completely sure, but his instincts told him Brittany was pregnant.

Piper squinted, "Keep digging. We need concrete evidence."

After hanging up, Piper let out a breath of relief. Her mother was right; she couldn't target Brittany directly anymore.

At least, not by herself.

She needed someone else to unmask Brittany's hypocrisy!

The next morning, Piper dressed in her finest and headed straight for the royal residence.

She grew up with Eltham and was close to the Queen.

She didn't need an appointment to see the Queen.

The Queen, surprised by her visit, paused with her hand clad in lace gloves, "Piper, what brings you here?"

"Your Majesty, I'm here concerning Ms. Lynette and Eltham's engagement."

The smile on the Queen's face faded slightly, "I've said all there is to say on that matter."

The Queen was aware of Piper's intentions.

But Eltham only had eyes for Brittany, and the Queen couldn't let him down.

"Your Majesty, I realize my past mistakes." Piper's eyes reddened, "I love Eltham, but he sees me as nothing more than a sister. I shouldn't have questioned you, nor should I have harbored those thoughts." "Now that I know my mistake, I will behave myself, do my duty, and never cause distress to you, Eltham, or Ms. Lynette."

Seeing Piper's remorse, the Queen softened, "Speak, then."

"Ms. Lynette is now Craneville's pride, a perfect match for Eltham." Piper praised reluctantly, "Your Majesty, your judgment was impeccable, choosing Ms. Lynette as the future queen."

The Queen smiled faintly, gesturing for Piper to sit, "Indeed, she has brought many surprises."

Brittany's performance in the recent competition had the whole town talking.

Piper managed a smile, "With the engagement around the corner, according to royal protocol, a pre-marital health check is required."

She paused momentarily, "I heard Ms. Lynette wasn't feeling well recently and took almost a month off for rest and medical checks. Thankfully, it was nothing serious, but regarding the pre-marital health check-"

"The pre-marital health check is already scheduled." The Queen had everything under control, "Once she's fully recuperated, and the results are in, we can proceed with the engagement party."

That was exactly what Piper was waiting to hear, "That's great."

The Queen, seeing Piper's genuine change of heart, didn't dwell on past issues any longer. After a short chat, she sent Piper on her way.

...

Brittany, oblivious to being targeted, received a call from Grayson right before leaving work, "Young lady, come to the chess club. Let's have another game." Brittany happily agreed.

After tidying up her desk, she grabbed her bag and drove straight to the chess club.

Grayson had been waiting for a while. Spotting her arrival, he waved with a smile, "Over here!"

Brittany approached, "Old man, kept you waiting, huh?"

Grayson gestured for her to sit down, eager to start the game, "Come on, let's play another round." Brittany, itching to play, nodded, "Please."
