Sally

POV

We got to work right away. Alpha Hudson asked if we could help him get an overview of the situation at Midnight pack.

The vast majority of the warriors submitted to Alpha Hudson immediately, which was a huge relief. The ones that refused, Alpha Hudson cast out as Rogues hoping they could replace another pack to live in. After a few hours, a large van pulled up in front of the packhouse and Avery jumped out of the car along with Luna Roberta, Alex and a group of other civilian people from the Blue Eclipse pack, ready to help. I saw Alpha Hudson embrace Avery and kiss her passionately. When they pulled away, I saw Avery blushing and I said teasingly.

"So, I guess you're a Luna now."

Avery squealed and rushed to hug me.

"We were so worried." She whispered.

The others walked up to us and Alex hugged me too.

"I'm sorry." He said. "I'm so, so sorry. If I hadn't stayed in the field that day, they would never have had the opportunity to take you."

I shook my head at him.

"Don't say that, Alex." I replied. "What happened wasn't your fault. You saved a lot of people that day, even though you could have been hurt in the process."

"Yeah, but I kinda got you kidnapped." He protested.

I chuckled.

"Of course you didn't." I said and nudged his shoulder. "Now, stop blaming yourself and go help some people, okay?"

Alex grinned and nodded.

We split up. Roberta went with Barry, Alpha Hudson and Avery to the safehouses to check on the Midnight pack members that didn't fight in the army. Alex, Elijah and I went to the pack hospital to make ourselves useful. I decided that I would go to see if Pasha had woken up. The poor thing was rushed to the hospital right after she passed out.

A doctor walked past me in the hallway and I asked him if he had any news on Pasha.

He smiled at me and said.

"Oh yes. She just woke up. The Beta in is there with her now."

I nodded and thanked him before walking up to the door. I knocked twice and opened the door, only to freeze and stare in disbelief.

Luke and Pasha were lying together in Pasha's hospital bed. Pasha had her head on Luke's chest and Luke had an arm draped over her shoulder. He looked up when I walked in and smirked.

Pasha raised her head and looked at me. She started to blush and tried to get off of Luke, but he pulled her to himself gently.

Posho roised her heod ond looked ot me. She storted to blush ond tried to get off of Luke, but he pulled her to himself gently.

"Umm- whot's up?" I finolly soid when I got over the first shock.

Posho sot up in the bed ond pulled Luke with her.

She fidgeted with her honds in her lop ond blurted.

"Luke is my mote."

I frowned.

"Whot?"

Posho blushed ogoin, but refused to look me in the eyes.

I looked ot Luke for confirmotion ond he nodded hoppily.

"Reolly?" I squeoled.

I rushed over to Posho ond hugged her.

"You didn't choose him os your mote." I replied. "Just becouse you were his mote it doesn't moke you o bod person. You ore still you ond I like you. Besides, you rejected him, so he doesn't count onymore." Posho beomed.

We tolked ond loughed together for o while, before I left to help Alex.

I spent the rest of the doy treoting the wounds of the worriors ond looking over the Omegos thot were brought from the sofehouse.

The lower ronked members of the Midnight pock hod been bodly treoted, o lot of them were underoge with cuts, whip morks ond bruises. Since they didn't hove their wolves yet, they couldn't heol so quickly. When I wos finished, I wolked out of the hospitol only to replace Elijoh hugging o mon.

I smiled ond wolked up to them.

Elijoh's eyes lit up ond he buried his foce in the crook of my neck.

He inholed for o moment, then pulled owoy while the mon wotched us curiously.

"Remember I told you thot I found my mote?" Elijoh soid.

"Oh yes!" The mon replied. "I'm reolly hoppy to meet you. I'm Lucos, Elijoh's roommote." "Hi, I'm Solly." I soid.

Lucos punched Elijoh in the shoulder.

"Dude, you kept your word ofter oll." He cheered. "You come bock morked ond moted!"

Elijoh burst into loughter.

"So." Lucos soid. "Now thot we hove o new Alpho, does thot meon thot I could try out for Delto ronk ogoin ond become o worrior?"

"Umm- what's up?" I finally said when I got over the first shock.

Pasha sat up in the bed and pulled Luke with her.

She fidgeted with her hands in her lap and blurted.

"Luke is my mate."

I frowned.

"What?"

Pasha blushed again, but refused to look me in the eyes.

I looked at Luke for confirmation and he nodded happily.

"Really?" I squealed.

I rushed over to Pasha and hugged her.

"We're gonna be sisters!" I said. "I've always wanted a sister."

Pasha frowned at me.

"You're not mad at me for being mated to your brother?"

I burst out laughing.

"Why would I be mad?" I asked. "This is great news!"

"But I was Alpha Richard's mate." She protested.

I shook my head.

We talked and laughed together for a while, before I left to help Alex.

I spent the rest of the day treating the wounds of the warriors and looking over the Omegas that were brought from the safehouse.

The lower ranked members of the Midnight pack had been badly treated, a lot of them were underage with cuts, whip marks and bruises. Since they didn't have their wolves yet, they couldn't heal so quickly. When I was finished, I walked out of the hospital only to replace Elijah hugging a man.

I smiled and walked up to them.

Elijah's eyes lit up and he buried his face in the crook of my neck.

He inhaled for a moment, then pulled away while the man watched us curiously.

"Remember I told you that I found my mate?" Elijah said.

"Oh yes!" The man replied. "I'm really happy to meet you. I'm Lucas, Elijah's roommate." "Hi, I'm Sally." I said.

Lucas punched Elijah in the shoulder.

"Dude, you kept your word after all." He cheered. "You came back marked and mated!"

Elijah burst into laughter.

"So." Lucas said. "Now that we have a new Alpha, does that mean that I could try out for Delta rank again and become a warrior?"

I smiled.

"Alpha Hudson is my former Alpha." I replied. "He is nothing like Alpha Richard. He will give you a fair chance to prove yourself." Elijah nodded.

"Yeah, Alpha Hudson is a great guy." He agreed. "I think you'll make the cut this time."

Lucas grinned.

"Thanks." He said. "I'll go check on the other Omegas."

We nodded and he took off.

Elijah hugged me tightly once we were alone.

"Come on." He whispered.

He took my hand and we walked into the forest.

We walked to a clearing and he sat down by the base of a tree, leaning his back against the trunk.

He pulled me down into his lap.

"I'm so sorry for everything." He said. "I failed you."

I pushed his hair away from his eyes and smiled.

"It wasn't your fault." I whispered.

Elijah buried his face in the crook of my neck and we sat like that for a minute, just relishing in each other's presence.

"I don't understand." I said. "How are you even alive? I watched you die."

Elijah was quiet for a moment.

"I got a new wolf." He mumbled.

I frowned in confusion.

"All my life, I hid everything inside me. All the pain and loneliness I felt, I stored away never to let anyone see it. It wasn't until now that I realized that my wolf took the whole burden. So, when I shifted for the first time, my wolf was already weakened by everything I never had the guts to let go of."

Tears filled Elijah's eyes and he quickly blinked them away.

"When I died, he sacrificed himself for me." He whispered. "I got a second chance at life, but the wolf inside me is a new one."

He shrugged.

"I guess that I should be happy that I have a stronger wolf now. But still..."

"Still, you grieve for the wolf you once had." I finished.

Elijah nodded.

"It's okay." I said. "Your wolf was a part of you and now that part is gone. I'm really sorry."

Elijah chuckled.

"He would want me to come back and save you."

"And you did." I grinned. "I'm right here, and I'm not going anywhere."

Elijah's lips crashed onto mine and I wrapped my arms around his neck.

We pulled away, still leaning our foreheads against each other.

"Let's go home?" Elijah suggested.

I smiled.

"Let's go home."
