Charles’s fingers hit the decline button, but Xavier kept calling back. Charles’s eyes swirled with anicy anger. He just let the phone keep

ringing, holding it tightly.

Noelle came out of the shower and saw Charles with her phone. “What’s up?”

Charles just lifted an eyebrow and handed her the phone. Noelle saw who it was, frowned, anddeclined without a second thought. She looked at Charles and started to say something, but thephone interrupted her, ringing again. Noelle’s frown got deeper as she declined again. Before shecould get a word out, Charles asked, “Didn’t you think to grab a towel for your hair?“.

Noelle paused, watching Charles’s tall silhouette head inside the bathroom. She bit her lip as hecame back with a towel, signaling her to

sit down.

Noelle hesitated. “Um…”

“Come over here!” Charles called out, not even glancing at the buzzing phone that displayedXavier’s incoming call. Noelle felt a bit unsure about what Charles was thinking, but she walked overand sat down quietly.

Charles’s long fingers gently combed through her hair, soothing her. Noelle’s heart raced. She wasnot sure why she felt so nervous.

It would be easier if Charles would just say something.

The silence between them felt heavy. Noelle bit her lip, about to speak, when the phone rang again.It was Xavier. Annoyed, she hit the reject button and then blocked his number. Finally, peace!“Won’t you say something?” she asked.

Noelle paused, then realized he did not have a reason, Charles was not the type to see Xavier as athreat. Not at all

Noelle let out a sigh. “I have no idea why he’s calling me!”

However, Charles just gave her a knowing look, his piercing eyes hinting at something unsaid. “Ifyou’re confused, then let it be. You’ve blocked him now, so he won’t be able to bother youanymore.”

“Mm–hmm!” Noelle nodded, looking up into Charles’s eyes with a smile. You’re always so composedand collected. It’s not a bad thing, but I think you could show a little more emotion. I sometimeswonder, what would it take to get a reaction out of you? To make you really upset?”

Charles arched an eyebrow and ran his long fingers gently through her hair, massaging her scalp.Noelle could not help but smile at the pleasant feeling. “You’re pretty good at this. You’d make akilling with your own massage shop!*

She gazed into his twinkling eyes, full of laughter and shining brightly.

Charles paused, his fingers still in her hair. “You think I should start a massage shop? To givemassages to other people?”
