Janet's face turned pale upon hearing this. She bit her lower lip hard and looked at Charles with pitiful eyes, then turned to Clarisse. "Charles, I know you're in a bad mood. I won't hold it against you." Charles let out a cold snort. He merely glanced at Janet before turning to go upstairs. Seeing Charles go up, James quickly followed. "Mr. Charles, I've prepared the tea. Where would you like it?" "Have someone bring it up. I need to speak with Dad and Uncle Henry," Charles said, his cool voice softening slightly.

Hearing Charles' conversation with the butler, Clarisse's eyes flashed with sharpness as her fingernails dug into her palm.

Janet's face was not any better. She hurried to Clarisse's side and helped her sit down. "Aunt Clary, has Charles... Has he really not forgiven me? But I... Aunt Clary, what should I do?"

Clarisse was also in a foul mood. No one would feel good being treated this way by their own son, especially when he showed more respect to a servant than to her. How could Clarisse accept this?

Looking at Janet, Clarisse's eyes showed a hint of pity. "Don't be afraid. Charlie is still my son. He'll listen to me. I'll take care of things between you and Charlie. Since he did those things to you back then, I won't let him act recklessly. Don't worry!" "Thank you, Aunt Clary!" Janet clung to Clarisse's arm, resting her head on her shoulder. "Aunt Clary, I wish you were really my aunt."

"Silly child, if I were really your aunt, wouldn't that make you and Charlie closer to siblings?"

Janet bit her lip and nodded pitifully. "You're right, Aunt Clary."

"Just wait. I came this time to resolve this matter. I'll definitely give you an answer!"

"Thank you, Aunt Clary!"

Upstairs, Charles knocked and entered the room where Mateo and Henry were discussing business. Henry waved him over. "Charlie, you're back?"

"Yes, Uncle." Charles walked in, followed by James, who set up the tea set. Once everything was arranged, he left.

Charles sat down and calmly began to prepare tea, not interrupting Mateo and Henry's discussion.

Though they were talking business, they did not want to ignore Charles, so they quickly wrapped up their conversation. "Your mother came. Did you see her?" Mateo took the teacup Charles handed him and paused. "Janet came too."

Charles furrowed his brows. "I saw them." He showed no emotion.

Mateo and Henry exchanged

glances. Henry smiled, "Charlie'set

grown up now. He can make his

own decisions about his affairs. You don't need to worry, Mateo

"Henry, you don't understand. Clary is still upset about what happened back then, and with Janet..." Mateo glanced at Charles as he said this.

"Charlie, you're not getting any

younger. You should start thinking about marriage. You and Kelly aren't meant to be. Why do you keep holding onto her? She's been gone for so many years."

Hearing this, Charles' hand paused while pouring the tea. He then

curved his lips slightly. "Do you really

think she can influence my

decisions, Dad?"
