The Curse Of The Crying Boy -
Alone At Last
“Where’s my husband?” I ask her. Sitting down on a stool at the tip of the island.
“He left for his business trip for the weekend” she informs me.
“Thank you!” I say.
“Here’s your breakfast” she put a plate in front of me with eggs, fruits and a waffle with Nutella. With a note from my husband.
“Thank you” I smile.
The note says..
‘Good morning honey, I’ll be gone by the time you wake. Have a good weekend. Be safe. Love you. Be back on Sunday.’
It is already Friday. With everything going on, time flew by and I completely forgot my husband was going on a business trip over the weekend. I feel bad, but he hasn’t been the nicest lately.
Honestly, it’s going to be nice this weekend without my husband. Usually I go to the spa, out for brunch and go out with my girls but this time I’m going to take advantage to be alone with my sweet boy without being judged by my husband. Also, my sweet boy won’t have to be scared to be out and enjoy his time because the one he’s scared of won’t be there. I don’t even eat my breakfast. I run to my office with excitement.
“I have good news” I yell in my office.
“He’s not here this weekend! So you don’t have to be scared to be out” I look at him with a big smile.
I feel something behind me and I instantly smile. It’s my sweet boy. I take his hand and bring him right away in my what would have been my baby’s room. The moment we step in, I don’t feel the pain and sadness I usually do. I feel happy bringing my sweet boy here. It’s his room now. My sweet boy, let’s go of my hand and explore the room.
“Do you like it” I ask.
He nods yes.
“Would you like this to be your room?” I ask with a big smile.
He nods yes.
I leave him in the room and go get his painting in my office. I take him off my office wall and bring him to his bedroom. I inspect the room to see where would be best to put him. I see the frame with my baby ultrasound. I go up to it and take it off the wall. I stare at it for a few minutes as tears run down my face, when suddenly I feel a hand grab my leg and I look and see my sweet boy smiling at me. Letting me know that everything is alright.
I open the drawer of the changing table and set the ultrasound picture of my baby inside safely, to keep it safe. I take my sweet boy’s painting and hang where the ultrasound picture of the baby was. I look over at my sweet boy giving him a gentle smile, to make him know everything is alright in return.
He grabs my hand, pulling in the direction of where all the books and puzzles are. I sit down in the corner with him.
“Do you want me to read you a book?” I ask, curious to why he brought me to this corner.
He shakes his head no and points to the puzzles.
“You want to do a puzzle?” I ask.
He nods yes.
“Which one?”
He points to the one with the trains.
I take it out and open the box. I put the puzzle pieces on the floor and spread them out face up. He points to certain puzzle’s pieces and I put them together. 30 minutes later, we’re finally done with the puzzle. He is one smart cookie. Once he sees the final product, he has the biggest smile imprinted on his face. It feels so nice to see him smiling instead of crying.
He is such a beautiful boy and so smart for his age. Wait! How old is he… I don’t know his age.
“Can I ask you a question?” I ask.
He nods yes.
“Can you show me with your fingers house old you are?”
He nods yes and puts up six fingers.
“Wow you’re a big boy” I smile.
He nods and smiles.
I know this is crazy, but it’s no coincidence that he is 6 years old and I lost my baby at 6 months. Now I’m really convinced that we were fated to replace each other. This is my Angel sent from heaven, to get me through the most painful experience of my life.
“You’re such a handsome boy” I compliment him.
He smiles from ear to ear.
I jump as the door of the room opens. It’s the housekeeper.
“Sorry to startle you. I just wanted to inform you I’m here, and ask what would you want for lunch?” She informs me.
“Yes, don’t worry, I was just cleaning up. The usual would be nice. Thank you.” I confirm, picking up and putting away the puzzle. My sweet boy is already back in his painting. I give him a quick smile.
“Can I ask you something ma’am?” She says, turning around to look at me before leaving the room.
“Of course” I answer.
“Who were you speaking with? If you don’t mind me asking” she catches me off guard.
“Oh.. I was in a deep train of thoughts, I guess I was thinking out load” I explain.
“Oh ok” she continues her way.
I look at my sweet boy.
“I’ll be back” I tell him. Closing the door behind me.

Once done eating, I go in my office and take my iPad.I answer a couple work emails and then go on FaceTime and FaceTime my husband. He answers right away.
“Hi honey” he says.
“Hi, what are you doing?” I ask.
“Nothing, just got back from a meeting. You?” He asks.
“Just got back from eating and answering a couple emails” I answer. I didn’t lie, I just kept some details away from him.
“Nice. What did you eat?” He asks.
“Salmon poke bowl” I answer.
“What are your plans for later?” He asks. He arcs a brow.
“Going out with the girls. You?” I lie. I’m obviously going to spend some more time with my sweet boy.
“That’s nice” he says.
“Yeah” I answer.
“Where are you girls going?” He asks.
“I think we’re going to this bar in the hotel with a couple of Emily’s friends” I invent.
“Cool, I hope you have fun honey!” He smiles.
“Thank you! I’m going to start getting ready! Have a nice night!” I say to cut the conversation short. I blow him a kiss.
“You too!” He blows me a kiss back. I end the call.
I put my iPad away and I hurry to go back to my sweet boy room.
