He already saw the power of the formation and anticipated that the first and second elders would attackfrom behind him to save the third, fourth, and fifth elders.

He was prepared for it.

He was acting like he was trying to attack the third, fourth, and fifth elders when he was saving his trueenergy for the first and second elders.

Seeing as the first and second elders fell for it, he was not about to show them mercy.
