The Gamma's Heart
The Gamma’s Heart – Chapter 36

“What do you mean he approached her, Mariah?” Noah was livid, yes they let the boy live without consequences, there were a few members in the pack with similar issues.

But that didn’t mean he wanted him near his mate.

He called all three of her friends when he couldn’t get her to answer her phone. But that was an hour ago and they are just now calling him back.

Both he and Wyatt felt the anxiety in her spike through the bond and just wanted to make sure everything was okay.

Now he’s wishing he went with them. “She’s fine. He realized what he did was a mistake and quickly left.” Mariah reassured him as she turned back onto the borders of their pack land.

“Wyatt, call Timothy, for me please and talk to him about this.” Noah told him. He then went back to his phone, “Any magical outbursts we need to explain?”

“No, that’s probably why she wasn’t answering your calls. She was working on calming down. We were getting food, Noah. Josie said she noticed him but couldn’t place where she’d seen him before. We are so sorry.”

“Stop aplogizing, Mariah. I told you I’m fine..” Noah couldn’t help but smile at how cute she sounded.

“We feel horrible, Clara. Especially Josie, because she’s seen his face before, and she didn’t recognize him sooner.”

“I’m fine!” Clara stated with finality “he didn’t touch me this time. He seen how freaked out I was when you guys came back.” she sighed.

“But I think he just wanted to apologize. I would’ve let him if it wasn’t still so fresh.” Noah heard the cracks in her voice through the phone.

“How far are you?” he asked “we just crossed over from The Forest Pack, so 10 more minutes maybe less.” Mariah told him.

He sighed closing his eyes “alright, I’ll see you guys soon.”

Noah sat on the steps of the porch waiting, his knee bouncing nonstop, he kept looking at his watch like it would make time move faster.

He heard the door open up behind him, nobody was home so he knew it was Wyatt.

“Talked to, Tim. He said he’ll talk to his brother about approaching her when out in public.” Wyatt told him as he sat.

“Tim, told me also that Hank, has been trying to get ahold of her through, Brandon!” Noah’s head snapped in his direction “why?” he growled.

“He feels horrible and he feels like he owes her a proper apology. Timothy said his therapist recommends that he does it, that it would help in the long run with his mental health.” Wyatt explained.

Noah stood up he couldn’t hear anymore. “And what about hers, Wyatt? She’s not mentally stable enough to talk to the bastard that raped her!”

Noah was so pissed off by what Wyatt told him that he never heard Mariah’s car pull up. “How dare they recommend that he need to talk to her!”

“Hell no, it’s not happening. She won’t even tell us that she loves us when we tell her we do anymore, because of what he did. So tell Timothy the answer is ‘no’ and that’s final!”

Noah went to walk past him but paused, wanting to say something else.

“Are they trying to make her turn to the dark side that’s calling every time she looses control of her powers? I know that you feel it when it happens Wyatt. That aura around her is dark and powerful!”

“It’s 10 fold the power of an Alpha!” he glared at his cousin. “I’m honestly terrified of her when it happens, Wyatt!”

Wyatt looked down at the ground not able to look in her direction. The look on her face said it all.

“Noah!?”

Noah spun around quickly, the sound of Mariah’s voice shocking him. When did they get here?

“What the hell is wrong with you man?” he watched Mariah get back into the car as his mate just stood there staring at him.

“You should have said something to me, Noah.” Clara told him softly.

When she went to get in the vehicle he ran over his heart clenching with shame. She wasn’t meant to hear any of that. “Clara, no I’m sorry. I didn’t mean-“

The sound of her slapping him echoed in the area. “You always mean what you say when you’re angry, Noah.” Clara said with tears brimming her eyes, hurt and anger spilling through their bond.

Noah held his cheek, the slight sting in it reminding him how he hurt her feelings.

“My only regret is not dying before I got back home. Living this nightmare over and over again is almost worse than everything that was done to me.”

Wyatt stood up quickly “You don’t mean that” she looked at him, although she was mad and hurt with Noah she still held the pain in her eyes as they locked with his brown orbs.

That was when Wyatt knew she meant every word. She officially didn’t want to be around knowing that Noah was afraid of her.

Clara averted her gaze and stepped away from Noah. She took a deep breath as she got into the car, she heard Noah tell her that he loved her but she ignored him.

After putting her seatbelt on, Mariah started driving again, and that’s when she let her tears silently fall.

The next morning Clara had to have Chase bring her to her appointment because she didn’t want to see Noah.

She wasn’t mad at Wyatt, but she knew if he came Noah would be minutes away.

“So….am I gonna have to guess or are you going to tell me what’s going on with you and Noah?” Chase asked while messing with different tools in the room.

“Ask him yourself, Chase! He’s your best friend!” Clara whispered. Her eyes were closed, she hadn’t felt good all morning and she chalked it up to morning sickness kicking her rear end again.

Chase put the weird object back where he got it from and rolled over to his sister on the little bed. “Yes but you are my baby sister. You trump him.”

Clara rolled her eyes as she looked over at him. “I’m still not telling you.”

Chase glared at her as the door opened revealing Dr. Andrews. “What’s up Doc?”

A hefty laugh left the doctor. “Nothing much kiddo. And you?”

Clara shrugged her shoulders. “I’m sick, I’m tired, I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired!” Chase laughed this time at his sisters joke.

“I was being serious, take the child out!” Clara declared in a serious tone.

“Can’t, you still have about 10 weeks left.” Clara let out a g***n, “but everything hurts, and I constantly have to pee” she complained.

“That’s normal, Clara!” After he got the gel situated he grabbed his wand nd moved it around a bit over her belly.

Chase stared in wonder because he’d not been to an appointment yet, but once he seen the little image of his niece he wanted to cry. “She looks so tiny!” he whispered to himself.

“That’s because she is,” the doctor chuckled “your sister is about 6 1/2 months along, so the baby is weighing about two pounds. Once she reaches month 7 she’ll beable to hear properly.”

“Really? That’s so cool” Chase said standing up and putting his face close to his sisters belly. “Hey, munchkin, remember….I was here before the other uncles. So I’m the cooler one.”

Clara pushed him away and rolled her eyes with a smile on her face. “You are an idiot.”

“And yet you still love me..” he grinned at her.

“It’s debatable” Chase put his hand on his chest feigning hurt “that actually hurts Miss Baker, I suggest you take it back!”

Clara glanced over at her brother, a giggle leaving her. “Fine, I love you too you idiot..” Chase smiled brightly knowing he won.

After the appointment she and Chase were now walking back to his jeep, Clara was looking down at the ultrasound photos when she bumped into someone.

“Sorry, I-“

“it’s just me sweetheart.” Wyatt told her softly cutting her off.

“Where’s Noah?” Wyatt shook his head when he noticed she wouldn’t make eye contact with him. “Waiting in the car.”

Clara took in a deep breath and handed him the pictures and looking up at him, she was gonna have Chase drop them off for her but since they are here.

“Dr. Andrews said she’s growing at a healthy rate. And that I only have about 9 maybe 10 weeks left if I can make it that long.”

Chase shook his head why wasn’t she gonna tell him. “Tell him, so he won’t worry.” he watched her shake her head.

“It isn’t serious, Chase!”

“No but it can be.”

Wyatt was getting worried. “What is it?” he questioned, his smile being replaced with a frown.

“Her b***d pressure is high, therefore she’s at risk of preeclampsia durring delivery. Or a preterm delivery”

Clara pushed past Wyatt and continued walking. It wasn’t even that serious, that’s the only reason she hasn’t told anybody yet. She’s known about it since month 5.

“Seriously? Why did you not want to tell me?” Wyatt asked as he caught up to her.

“Because you all act like I’m made of glass. I’m tougher than I look, Wyatt. I’m just stressed out over everybody treating me differently. The only ones that don’t do that is your mom and Mrs. Evans!”

Wyatt stopped walking, now he felt bad. He didn’t know they were stressing her out. And how did they not feel it through the bond? Is it always there? Is that why they never noticed it?

“No you guys didn’t cause it, Wyatt!” Clara called out as she continued walkikg towards her brothers jeep.

“How did you know I was thinking that?” she shrugged her shoulders “Just a feeling I guess!”

Wyatt watched the two of them hop into the jeep. He sighed, then linked his friend as he began driving off “please just call us if something happens”

“I’m pretty sure you’ll know before me, but I’ll keep you both updated.” He could hear him laughing before he cut the link.

Wyatt glanced down at the pictures in his hand and smiled. “Precious!” he mumbled.

Noah waited in the passenger seat playing on his phone. His head shot up when the door opened “you’ve only been gone 10 minutes.”

“She was in the parking lot when I seen her. Here, she gave me these.” he handed him the set of pictures.

Noah’s eyes widened. “She’s already so big!” Wyatt nodded. “Due date is between January 8th and January 15th!” Noah put his seatbelt back on when the car started.

His fingers lightly traced the face of his and his cousin’s baby. Yes it sounded weird, but she said she didn’t care who the dad was so neither did they.

“Thought of any names yet?” Wyatt asked randomly.

I nodded my head, “I was thinking of grandma the other day. Not mom’s but dad’s.”

A smile formed on Wyatt’s face “That’s a huge name, she’s already got two last names, Noah!” he chuckled.

Noah rolled his eyes. “Not the whole name doofus. Just the nickname everybody called her by!”

Wyatt thought as they stopped at a red light. His fingers drumming on the steering wheel. “I think it’s perfect!” he smiled over at his cousin.
