The officer brought me to a woman who I noticed immediately. She is the woman who pushed the unclothed girl into line a few years back. I see the same girl not too far from her and two more children close by. The oldest girl seems close to my age.

“Hello mam, I found this child hiding in the woods. Another woman claimed that you are her mother.” The officer says.

“I gave birth to her but I do not claim her. She is no ones child but a demon wearing human skin.” The woman states passionately.

“Mam, if you don’t take care of her, then you might lose your other kids as well. I can call social services.” The officer states.

“She isn’t my mother.” I finally say. “I know she isn’t my mother.”

“Be quiet brat! You don’t know what you are talking about! Officer, I will take charge of her. There is no reason to involve anyone else.”

I was working in the park when Faun approached me. He hung around and we talked for awhile. As the sun began to set, we decided to get some pizza. I decided to leave Faun to watch the table while I went to get the pizza. I walk by the $1 pizza place and see a young guy standing next to it, asking for money. I walk inside and order five slices. As I’m walking out of the restaurant I pull out a plate with one slice.

“Do you want a piece?”

“Yeah, thanks!”

“No problem, take care."

My nights have been plagued with with both dreams of the past and crazy nightmares. My nightmares are always filled with death. The theme of my life is watching things die. I start to no longer care. How can I when I keep seeing everything around me die. It seems like forever since I had a real conversation with anyone. Yet, I can't seem to bring myself to start one. On Thanksgiving day, I woke up and started getting ready to leave.

"I don't really want you to have to spend Thanksgiving by yourself. I will head to the park later to keep you company." Hera says.

"That would be nice." I say, though, I don't really believe her. I doubt she cares if I am actually by myself. I'm sure it makes her feel better to say it though. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

I get everything set up at the park, although, most of the sale will probably take place in the evening. The busiest night of the year. I hang out as a homeless guy approached me.

"Hey how are you?" He says. I look over the human looking kobold. Centuries ago, creatures like kobolds, goblins and other monsters, differed in appearance to humans. Over time the interred with human society so much, that they started to resemble them. Only a truly gifted person can see them for what they are. It took me years of training to accomplish this.

"I am fine. Are you here to buy or did you just want to hang out?" I ask calmly. I have no fear of these creatures. They are only dangerous if they are mistreated.

"I think I would just like to hang out for a while. How long will you be her today?"

"Probably until the park closes. I will make plenty of money tonight." So we hung out and talked for the rest of the evening. As expected, Hera decided not to show up.

"I don't want to live with her." I say to the policeman. "She isn't really my mother. I don't understand why no one will believe me. I know she isn't."

"If she says she is your mother then she probably is. You must go with her. I'm sure everything will be fine once you do." He says as he walks away. I knew though, that nothing would ever be the same ever again.
