Alexander's

POV

Elijah and I went to my office and began going over paperwork and work emails. I really had been neglecting my duties lately, but with everything going on, some things just slipped through the cracks. After about an hour or so of work, I decided to check in with Julia and see how her, Sandra, and Hannah were getting along.

"How's planning going?"

"Good! We got a lot done, we're just gonna need the names and addresses of where to send the invites."

"I'm happy to help with that. Are you still at the apartment?"

"No, we got bored so we decided to go for a swim in the lake. That's where we are now."

"Okay, well, I think we're almost done for the day here, so we'll meet you there in fifteen minutes if you think you'll still be there?"

"Sounds good!"

"Care for another lake date?" I asked Elijah who was on his laptop.

"Yeah, I guess we should bring bathing suits this time, seeing how Sandra's going to be there," he laughed.

"True, although after fighting October Moon, I think everyone has seen everyone naked." The two of us laughed together and continued to work for about another five minutes. That's when my train of thought was interrupted by Jason. "Alpha, we have a problem."

"What's the matter?" I asked, noting the hesitation and fear in his voice that made my blood run cold.

"At the lake, we need you here now."

"I'm coming."

"We need to go now, Jason said there's trouble at the lake," I told Elijah, standing up. "Wait, aren't the girls at the lake?"

"Yeah, they are." We both exchanged a scared, desperate look as we ran from my office and out of the pack house. Tearing through the forest, we arrive at the scene of the chaos in a matter of minutes. The picture we saw before us made my breath hitch in my throat, and caused lan to produce a fury so hot, my body temperature began rising rapidly as he tried to take control. The sight also confused me, as I didn't understand how I was looking at the person I was. At least I think I knew this person. I had never actually seen him except in wolf form.

An older man had Julia in his clutches, a sliver knife to her neck. While Hannah was shifted in to Lycan form, growling loudly at him. Sandra was being held by another man to Gregory's right, her arms pinned behind her back while he also held a knife to her throat. Jason and a few warriors were still in human form, looking desperately at the situation, trying to figure out what to do. Where were Cornelia and Vincent? They had been walking around the ground and she must have felt that Julia was in trouble. I scanned for her in the clearing, but I couldn't spot her.

"Are you looking for this?" Gregory cackled, moving to the side to reveal a large warrior holding what looked like an unconscious Cornelia in his arms. "She was too easy to catch, all caught up with her mate. Not so brave now without your little witch to help you." So, if she was here, then where was Vincent? Gregory soon answered my question. "Don't worry, her mate's not dead.....yet."

"I killed you," was all I said to him. Not sure how to believe he was standing before me. I know I killed him in the woods when I got Julia back from Logan.

"You'd like to think that, wouldn't you? You killed someone else, you only thought it was me. See, we have similar wolves, and, with the chaos, I knew no one would notice the difference. Even Logan thought it was me. He was more than happy running into the fight for me, as he thought I was going to make him my Beta once I took the pack back over."

"What do you want?" I asked, watching him push the knife deeper into Julia's skin.

"I want what I've wanted since this menace entered my pack and mated with my son, her dead! Along with everyone who ruined my pack and cast me out."

"How did you manage to get these people to follow you? You aren't their Alpha anymore."

"You think it wasn't easy to sway them my way once you put Marvin in charge? Dr. Andrews was all too happy to poison Marvin. He would have gotten away with it too if Sandra hadn't called you, and this filth," he yelled, jerking Julia around. "Jason, call the rest of the warriors here."

"Already done, Alpha."

"If you bring me Marvin and Beth, I might let your mate live long enough for you to say goodbye. If you don't, I'll bring the entire October Moon army down on you. With the pain of losing your mate, you won't be able to fight back." "We fought you once and won. We'll do it again. I'm going to kill you, and this time, I'll make sure it sticks!" Gregory threw his head back and laughed.

"That was with the help of the witch. It's easy to win when you have an unfair advantage." He smiled a sinister smile, showing just how far he had gone off the rails. Goddess, how was I going to get her out of this? Gregory was right about one thing, having Cornelia was an advantage that had saved us last time.

"Julia, are you okay?"

"I'm fine," she said with an air of struggle.

"How did he even get you?"

"We were all swimming and when we came up, we were surrounded. We didn't hear them coming because we were under the water."

"We're gonna get out of this!" I reassured her.

"I know, I love you!"

"I love you too!" Just how we were going to get out of this was a mystery to me. One wrong move and he would slice Julia's throat. She would bleed out faster than Sofia would be able to heal her. Our warriors started emerging from the trees behind me in Lycan form. This must have caused Greogry to order his warriors to come forward, because wolves were emerging from the trees around him. I was just about to let lan take control and shift, when five wolves came soaring over the heads of Gregory's warriors, landing in front of him and turning around to growl in his direction. I recognized Beth, so the other four must be Hendrix, Jordyn, Abigail, and Colson. This unexpected turn distracted Gregory long enough.

He loosened his grip on the knife just slightly, and I watched Julia use her powers to throw it out of his hand and across the field. Bewilderment and rage were all over his face. He didn't know she had started practicing her powers. Julia threw her head back, knocking into his nose. He howled out in pain and lost his grip on her. Julia jumped away, shifting in midair. Ian now had full control and shifted.

"This better be the last time we have to do this!" Hannah yelled as we all charged forward. I went straight for Gregory, who had now shifted into his wolf. He was right about his wolf and the one I killed being very similar. Their fur was maybe only one shade different. Without my Lycan sight, I might not have even noticed it in the heat of battle. Before I could get to him, three wolves jumped on my back. Their weight made lan stumble and toppled over. One bit into our back, causing lan to howl out. He reached back and clawed at their face, and they fell off writhing in pain from the deep gash marks. The other two were still trying to take us down, but lan grabbed one in each hand and tossed them across the ground. One collided with a tree and didn't get up, while the other came to a stop some 500 yards away.

I felt something collide with my chest and I lost my footing, falling to the ground with something large and black on top of me. It took me a second to realize it was Julia.

"Sweets, are you okay," I asked, concerned.

"Yeah," she said, but sounded like she was in pain. "Have you seen my mom?"

"Not since the fighting broke out." Our conversation was cut short by Gregory, who was charging at us, murder in his eyes. I caught him by the neck and slammed him into the ground as Sofia bit down on his shoulder and he roared out, throwing her off. She whined as she hit the ground hard, and lan became more enraged than I had ever seen him. Bending down, he clamped his claws hard around his neck, lifting him in the air as he gasped for air. lan growled so loudly in his face that Gregory's fur fluttered. He tightened his grip around his neck, cutting off his air supply. Greogry was sputtering and gasping as his eyes bulged from his head.

We watched as the life began to fade from his eyes. Greogry's wolf was starting to go limp as he struggled less and less. The fact that this man thought he could win over the Lycan pack near a full moon was comical. Finally, his head flopped back as we squeezed the last of his life from him. Dropping him to the ground, I watched as he shifted back to human form. Confirming this time that it was in face Gregory. Not wanting to take any chance, lan took his foot and stomped hard on his chest, making sure to aim directly for his heart.

"He's dead?" Julia asked, making sure.

"Yeah, he's not gonna be able to recover from that."

"Holy fu*k, thank the Moon Goddess!"
