Chapter 357 Why Are You Here?

Crispin fell silent at once.

He seemed to have understood Stephanie's anger, and it simply stemmed from the fact that the man from that night wasn't Elias.

"Ah! Why did things turn out like this? Why?!" Stephanie screamed in anger, driven mad by the possibility that the man from that night wasn't Elias.

"So, if the man from that night was Elias, would you feel better and not be so devastated?" Crispin suddenly spoke, and the whole room fell into a dead silence.

Stephanie's face turned pale, and she froze in place, her eyes wide open. After some time, she suddenly turned around. "That's not true!"

"Tell me, Stephanie, have you fallen for Elias?" It was his second time asking the same question, but this time, he already had an answer. Still, he couldn't accept the fact that his girl. had developed feelings for someone else.

"I haven't! I already told you I haven't! No, no, no! How many times do I have to tell you that I haven't fallen for him?!"

Followingly, she dashed angrily into the bathroom and locked the door behind her. It was evident that she didn't want to see Crispin or talk to him at the moment.

Crispin suddenly smiled as he looked at the shut door. He believed that he now had the most. definite answer-Stephanie had indeed fallen for Elias, and her feelings were deeper than he had imagined.

Both Jack and Elias were now investigating the matter. As it seemed impossible to pin the blame on Elias, Crispin had to replace a scapegoat, or the issue would drag on indefinitely.

Ultimately, only two results would come of this. For one, the investigation would lead to him, and Jack would completely ruin him, making it impossible for him to survive in the whole of Imperia. As a result, it would leave him worse than dead. Alternatively, the truth would remain hidden, and he wouldn't be able to marry Stephanie, leaving them in a perpetual state of uncertainty.

Neither outcomes were desirable for him, so the matter needed to be resolved.

After taking another gander at the bathroom door, Crispin left indifferently.

In the CEO's office of Winters Enterprise, Elias was reviewing a document at his desk when.

the internal phone rang, and his secretary's voice came through, saying, "Mr. Winters, Miss Stephanie Allegra wants to see you."

Stephanie? Is she here to cause trouble again?

"I don't want to see her." Elias didn't hesitate at all. He didn't want to say a word to Stephanie, especially when it was such a sensitive time.

"Miss Allegra said she won't leave until you see her, though."

Elias frowned in displeasure. He detested unreasonable women like her.

"Let her in."

"Yes, sir."

He

put down the document in his hand, wanting to see what the woman was up to.

After a while, the secretary brought Stephanie into the office.

"Would you like something to drink, Miss Allegra?" the secretary asked.

However, before Stephanie could answer, Elias went to the couch and said, "She won't be drinking anything. You may leave now. Close the door behind you, and don't let anyone in." "Yes, Mr. Winters," the secretary replied and left the room.

Once she heard the door close, Stephanie let out a cold laugh. "Are you not even willing to offer me a glass of water? I once nearly became your fiancée, after all."

"I'll be honest with you," Elias said curtly. "I never intended to marry you, let alone have as my fiancée."

Stephanie stared at him in shock. Though she already knew it, hearing it personally from him was still surprising.

"Do you really not have feelings for me? Not even a sliver?" She still wanted to ask, even though it was unnecessary.

Elias sneered in response. "What feelings should I have for you? It was your father who forced you upon me from the beginning. If it weren't to reclaim the shares, I wouldn't have even spared you a glance. Besides, why are you asking so much? Aren't you infatuated with. Crispin? Now that you two can finally be together, why aren't you getting married. immediately?"

Stephanie's heart bled at his heartless tone and the disdain in his eyes.

Heavens knew how happy she was when she woke up that morning, knowing Elias had slept with her. She had even drawn a plan for the rest of her life with him, but fate seemed to enjoy playing tricks on her. With teary eyes, she asked, "There's no one else now, just you and me. I just want to know, was it really you that night?"

"No. How many times do I have to tell you that it wasn't me? Haven't I undergone a lie detector test last night? It wasn't me. Please remember this answer; no matter how many times you ask, it wasn't me," Elias said, already fed up with being asked the same question repeatedly, making him annoyed and restless.

Instantly, tears rolled down the young woman's cheeks, yet she persistently asked, "There's no one else here, and there's no lie detector. Please tell me the truth! Was it really not you?"

At that, Elias stood up, no longer wanting to answer such a tedious question. "Just leave. My office is not a place for your unreasonable behavior." With that, he walked toward his desk.

Stephanie stood up as well. "If it was you that night, maybe I wouldn't feel so terrible. I don't want to give my first time to a man I don't know, so please tell me the truth. I won't tell anyone, I beg you." Elias became utterly speechless. It's impossible to communicate with this woman; she's like a lunatic.

Looking at her as though he was looking at an idiot, Elias said, "Please leave. I don't want to hear any more of your nonsense. The fact remains that your first time was indeed given to another man, not me. Stop bothering me; I have no interest in you, and I won't resort to such. despicable means."

"No... How can this be?!" Stephanie was completely heartbroken. She was beginning to believe that Elias might not have been the one that night. What should I do now? The thought made. her feel sick. Just then, the internal phone rang again, and the secretary's voice came through. "Mr. Winters, Miss Rosie Momsey wants to see you."

Good Lord, another one. Elias felt an instant headache, but after glancing at the young woman before him, he said into the phone, "Let her in."

Let these two women deal with each other. They can have my office. I'll leave.

Moments later, Rosie entered and was just about to greet Elias when she saw Stephanie standing there with red, tearful eyes.

"Stephanie? What are you doing here?" Rosie looked puzzled.
