Chapter 43 Elias Deliberately Made Things Difficult

Meanwhile, Amanda was busy washing vegetables in the kitchen when she vaguely heard her son talking to someone.

After she turned off the tap and walked to the living room, she asked, "Aiden Bailey, who are you talking to? Did I get a call?"

"Nope." The child shook his head. "I was talking to myself."

Did I hear it wrong? I must have been so tired these last two days that I'm imagining things. She eventually turned around and went back to the kitchen with a look of puzzlement on her face.

The child breathed a sigh of relief when he saw his mother go back to the kitchen.

He wouldn't let a strange man disturb Simon and Amanda from getting closer.

It would be best if Simon could marry Amanda quickly so that no one could bully her again in the

future.

Aiden had always thought that Simon was both the best man and father there was in the world.

Back in the kitchen, Simon turned around and glanced at Amanda. "What's wrong? Did someone

call?"

"No, I misheard it. I must have imagined it. It's been tiring these days, after all.”

She cocked her head and smiled as she continued washing the vegetables.

Simon also smiled when he suddenly remembered something. "By the way, I got a case involving the son of a rich wealthy household. He committed indecent assault. Do you want to take it? I'm a little too busy to handle it, so I'll let you do it if you can."

Amanda immediately agreed without hesitation. "Sure! It is my honor to help my boss."

Simon had helped her too much, and he had taken care of her and her child for the past four years. Because of that, she would definitely help if Simon needed her to.

"That's good. I'm relieved now. Otherwise, I'll surely have a headache dealing with several cases at

once.

"Why are you working so hard right after you come back? Are you making money for your future. wife?" Amanda casually joked. Unexpectedly, Simon responded in a low voice, "Unfortunately, the person I want to marry doesn't want to marry me...”

The atmosphere suddenly became awkward. Not knowing what to say, she could only lower her head and continue washing the vegetables. Dinner was finally ready after half an hour and the trio began to cat together.

Aiden, who was the happiest among them, did something he had never done-he helped the adults with the food.

"Have some shrimp, Mommy. And he's some fish for you, Mr. Simon!" The boy leaned over the table and put food on the adults' plates. Amanda was so touched she could cry. It suddenly felt like her son had grown up.

Thank you, Baby. It's delicious!"

Simon also laughed as he patted Aiden on the head. Of course, he knew exactly what the boy was up to.

In the following days. Amanda and Aiden gradually got used to living in the villa.

She hadn't heard from Elias either. After that incident, she and Elias were probably free of any entanglements with one another.

Howard had also given up after Amanda brought Simon back to the Winters Manor.

Just like that, Amanda's world seemed to have regained its peace. She could only hope that these quiet days would last until the day she resigned.

At Justice & Associates.

"What?!" Amanda almost spewed out the water she was drinking. "We are the defense lawyers for the rich son who committed indecent assault?" She thought she would represent the woman who was taken advantage of for the lawsuit.

Helean helplessly sighed when he heard that. "Miss Bailey, are you out of touch with reality? We work for the country's top law firm. How can an ordinary person afford the attorney's fees here? The woman who was assaulted is only a student from a third-rate university."

Amanda did not know what to say for a moment. She wouldn't have agreed to take the case if she had known. Not only did she despise cases like this, she now had to defend a sc*mbag who assaulted a poor

woman.

"You need to meet the litigant tonight and talk to him about the upcoming trial, Helean added.

Amanda couldn't help but sigh. "Where should I meet him?"

"He is super arrogant, though. He is still out having fun every day even after what happened.

Actually, he's having a pool party tonight. That is where you'll have to go"

"Who exactly is the guy?" Amanda spat. "What an embarrassment to his family

However, she did not know that she would soon meet Elias, whom she had not seen in a long time.

It was soon nighttime.

Amanda drove to the luxurious villa in the suburbs where the pool party was held and walked in. with an invitation card Helean prepared for her in advance.

She could see beautiful men and women in sexy swimsuits everywhere she looked,

Amanda, who was dressed in a professional suit, caught the curious gazes of many because of how out of place she looked.

She quickly grabbed a server and asked, "Excuse me, may I know where I can replace Mr. Carlisle London?"

"He's that way, miss. The server pointed in a direction.

"Thank you."

Amanda then went in the direction the server pointed. As she weaved through a crowd of beauties. in bathing suits, she finally saw a man with women in both his arms. He was leaning back on a lounge chair like a fatuous and self-indulgent ruler.

So, this is Carlisle London. I can tell he is a good-for-nothing, but... Why do I feel like a strange gaze fixated

on me?

With a frown, she turned her head to look, only to end up frozen on the spot.

Leaning against a lounge chair several seats away was Elias who held a champagne glass. He wore a black shirtsleeve with two buttons undone, and his sleeves were casually rolled up, revealing a silver wristwatch.

The man's almond-shaped eyes were narrowed as he stared at Amanda.

Why is Elias here?! Is he actually friends with a b*stard who took advantage of a college student?

Despite her thoughts, Amanda composed herself and introduced herself to Carlisle. "Mr. London, I am your attorney. Do you have time to talk about the case with me now?"

"Ah, a beautiful lawyer! I thought you were here for the party. I was wondering why you aren't in a

swimsuit."

Carlisle looked at Amanda from head to toe, his expression lecherous. "You would look great in a

swimsuit."

However, Amanda only responded calmly, "Mr. London, please have some respect for yourself. I am your attorney, not one of those women you are talking about."

She would have slapped the sleazy man on the face if it wasn't because he was a client.

Seeing that she was angry, Carlisle smilingly offered a compromise. "Okay, okay. Have a seat, Miss Bailey, and we will talk. I can't help feeling nervous. After all, this is my first time talking about a case with a beautiful lawyer."

Amanda didn't answer him. She was tempted to just turn around and walk away.

Elias' gaze was on Amanda the entire time. After he took a sip of champagne, he suddenly said in a low voice. "Do you have to talk about work now? It is a pool party. Either you talk about work another day, or you can talk now but in swimwear."

He was intentionally making things hard for her because of the deep grudge he held against her.

Many of Carlisle's friends started to kick up a fuss as well. "He's right! This is a pool party. You have to follow the rules if you are here. Why would you be here without swimwear?"

Shocked, Amanda stared wide-eyed at Elias.

This b*stard is deliberately trying to make things hard for me!

"You are not in swimwear, are you?" Amanda bit back. She wanted to charge at the son-of-a-b*tch and chew him up if she could.

"Pffi! Who are you to compare yourself to me?" Elias sneered.

She had no comeback to that. It took her all her might to rein in her emotions.
