The Lycan Series
Bullied By The Lycan King Chapter 40

Axel's POV

"Are you saying this Willow woman is f*****g back?" I blurted as my eyes flashed before me. "Do you think she has infiltrated the mansion? Could she have done this?" Greg slowly shook his head. "No, I don't think so..."

"But we can't be so f*****g certain. Nobody ever confirmed her death after the revolution, did they?"

I knew that my father had her locked up in the dungeons for ages but she was alive.

Yet after the revolution after everyone dispersed, we never heard from her. She wasn't found in the dungeons, nor did anyone replace her body.

"We will keep our eyes open and expand our search but I don't think Willow would want to show her face after everything she did to Avalyn..." Greg said.

"Better!" I breathed, turning my attention to the scenery flashing by the car's window.

We couldn't just conclude that Willow was gone. For such a drug that had a history with her to be found so close to my circle, I wouldn't dismiss the possibility so fast. There had to be a sort of connection because I didn't believe in coincidences. The car soon got to the royal house and I stepped out. I could already see a small group of the higher-ranked members of my pack at the far end of the mansion, heading to the back where Hera's ceremony was going to be held.

"The ceremony is starting, let's just head there but remind me to inform Hilda about Fergus's report later," I said as my legs started moving in the direction of the funeral.

Greg was right behind me and as we moved I remembered what Aaliyah had said about the Lycan in the west.

"What's the report on Nathan's location?" I asked him.

"He is in the uncharted lands currently."

"Ask him to come home. He has been away for too long. I need him to check this new Lycan in the west but before then he needs to come home first," I said and Greg nodded.

I knew that he missed his son. They had a lot of pain to also deal with. Unlike me, they had found the bodies of his wife, Cassie, and his other son, Ethan. The grief was great but at least there was closure.

I, on the other hand, was just striving for hope. Hope that perhaps one day, I will replace my family alive or dead... I just needed to know.

"My King," the members of my pack chorused as soon as they noticed my presence amongst them.

I nodded my head in acknowledgment and moved to the front of the row where the priest was about to commence his sermon before Hera could finally be laid to rest.

She had no family, so it was sad that no one was crying for her -well, no one except Savannah who was making a dramatic display of the act of shedding tears.

"Oh, Hera! My Heart aches for you!!" She cried out and I had to peel my eyes away from her pathetic display.

Thalia was silent as her eyes remained fixed on the body ahead of her. Her parents stood on either side of her, holding onto her.

At the other more isolated part of the gathering was Hilda and a few other workers.

My eyes were moving away from their group when they got caught on a fair maiden with bright blonde hair and alluring blue eyes I couldn't ignore.

Violet.

Every worry I had before getting to the funeral and even the one I had as I stood there, completely vanished.

I could no longer even hear Savannah's pathetic cries.

The air moved in slow motion as it carried Violet's beautiful skin and in that instant, I wished I was in the air. I wished I could easily kiss her skin in ways no one could question.

I wished my fingers could run through her beautiful hair and I could look into her eyes, without having second thoughts.

I couldn't tell how she did it, but without trying Violet was slowly getting her imprint in my heart. No matter how hard I tried to deny it, I couldn't stop myself from feeling the strong pull between us.

She raised her finger to tuck away a strand of her hair and she turned in my direction. As if I was struck by something, I quickly diverted my gaze as the more rational part of me resumed.

I shouldn't be staring at her like that. I shouldn't even feel this attraction I felt.

'You can't deny it. It's our bond, my wolf purred within me but I fisted my hands.

My wolf was wrong. It wasn't any sort of bond. I only felt this way because I was guilty.

Yes, that was it. I was feeling guilty for hurting her and maybe I should make it up to her and I would feel better.

'You just want an excuse to spend time with her,' My wolf commented, rolling his eyes but I ignored him.

It was just my conscience guilt-tripping me. As soon as I gave her something to feel good about, I would forget about her and resume my life regularly.

"May the moon goddess accept you in her blossom," the priest said and the funeral came to an end.

I was already far too distracted and it wasn't very respectful, so as soon as the man said the last words, I turned around and left.

I could hear Greg's heavy boots behind but I paid him no attention. I was actually looking back at Hilda. I needed her to help me prepare something that could clear away this guilt. "Stone," I called to one of the guards as we got to the main entrance.

"Yes, My King," he responded, running to my side with a bow.

"Get me, Hilda, now." I could feel Greg's stare following my every move but I ignored him and I prayed he would keep quiet.

But the moon goddess was never in the habit of responding to my prayers. As soon as we got to my study, Greg settled in his favorite seat at the corner and his eyes burned my skin.

"I noticed Violet attended the ceremony," he began and I let out a soft growl.

"Can't you close your eyes to some things, Greg? Maids and Slaves are in Hilda's jurisdiction. Why are you concerned?" I asked, pretending to be busy with the papers on my table.

"I asked a harmless question. Yet you decided to let you rile you. Now I am more interested not for the maids but for you because that is my jurisdiction," he responded in that calm voice of his that always managed to prick at my skin.

"I made her my mistress!" I hissed. What was the point of hiding it from him anyway, when he would always replace out?

"Hmm, interesting. So you finally decided to take the step..." He mumbled and the smile in his voice ticked me off again.

"It's just a title, Greg! Quit making a big deal about it in that fucking head of yours!" I growled.

"A title... But I hear you finally ordered Hilda to open up the special room opposite yours..." He said and my heart skipped. "... the very room you had designed in memory of the human girl you never wanted to speak about." Who was I kidding? Of course, he knew about my decision already.

I slapped my hands on the table and my eyes burned with a flame of clashing emotions. I didn't know who irritated me more, my wolf or him.

"Beta Greg, please fucking me alone. I would like to work now!" I growled.

A chuckle escaped his lips and he raised his hands in surrender. "When you behave like this, I can't help but think about your father..." He said and my eyes dimmed.

"And you should be grateful that the same father of mine is the reason I haven't killed you yet!"

As much as I loved them, he had various ways in his sleeves to piss me off.

My threat was like a tickle, he let out a soft laughter and he got up. "I'll leave you now. Please send Hilda to me when you are done with her," he said as he walked out of the study, leaving me to brood alone. Deep down, I knew that my supposed anger wasn't at him. It was me.

I had never been able to forget Violet even after we took over. And I thought making a room that was very identical to hers back at their mansion would help, but I was wrong.

The sharp knock on the door pulled me out of my thoughts and my eyes shot at it as Hilda pushed it open.

"My King, you asked for me," she said as she came to stand before me.

"I want to have a picnic with Violet," I said.

"Of course My King," she said but as she started scribbling on her notepad, she froze as if she had just registered what I asked for. "A- what?"
