The Lycan Series
Bullied By The Lycan King Chapter 42

Violet's POV

She would want me to use it to free them. But how?

I left my parents feeling even worse than I did when I went to them. After my father's uproar, I couldn't even speak to my mother about the status I had been elevated to. I couldn't even ask her anything because I knew what she would say. How could I convince Axel to free my parents when he barely even spoke to me?

It wasn't as if he were in love with me or something. I didn't even know why he elevated my status. The widow made it seem like s*x was the tool I had on Axel but after the first time, he had barely even looked at me.

I was so enveloped with my thoughts that I almost walked past Hilda, who had remained by the door, waiting for me.

"How did it go?" She asked and I turned to give her a fake smile.

It went horrible, I wanted to say but it would defeat the aim of coming here and probably stop future possibilities

"It was great. I feel much better now," I said, the fake smile glued firmly to my lips.

"That's good to hear. Because you need to be in the best of moods," she said and I raised my brows, wondering what she meant.

if sensing my question, she said, "The king has requested to have a picnic with you and all arrangements are being made, as we speak."

"What?" I blurted out in shock. "Axel wants to have a picnic with me?"

Hilda turned around and started walking away from the dungeon and I had no choice but to go after her.

"Hilda, do you really mean that or you are pulling my legs?" I asked as I tried to catch up with her.

She turned to look at me and there was a grin on her face. "Have I ever cracked a joke with you?"

My lips slammed shut as I got the answer I needed. But still, I found it hard to believe.

"You should relax. Things like this should be normal because you are now his mistress," she added maybe to calm me but I couldn't help but imagine what Axel had planned.

What if he wanted to kill me and this status elevation thing was just a ploy?

My heart was thumping so hard, the sound was the only thing resonating in my ears as walked back to my room.

"I have given Sky, everything you need. I'll come get you in thirty minutes, make sure you are ready," she said before turning away.

I swallowed the fear I was feeling and tried to be strong but the moment I pulled my door open and I saw the dresses on the bed, I knew I was doomed.

"Violet! Guess what!" Sky screeched the moment she saw me but her excitement died down when she saw the look on my face. "Violet, what is it? Why do you look like this?" She asked with an awkward smile. "You should be happy. The King wants to spend time with you. Something he has never done to other women..." She said trying to cheer me up but I couldn't replace a place in my heart where this felt good." Her beautiful face pinched into a frown and she looked straight at me. "A trap? What trap?"

"Think about it Sky... He doesn't like me. He can't even stand me... So why will he want to have a picnic with me if not to kill me?"

Sky blinked at me and then she suddenly burst into laughter.

"Oh, Violet, you are such a princess! How do you come up with these ideas?" She laughed.

"I am not joking Sky. Axel hates me-"

"No, he doesn't. Have you ever seen the way he looks at you?" Sky cried out.

Seeing that I was still disturbed, she grabbed my hand and pulled me to the bed.

"Let's take today for instance. He couldn't focus on any other thing aside from your face. Girl, the man is head over heels in love with you!" She said but I shook my head. Sky was a dream girl.

"He could have been thinking about how to kill me in a way that will be unquestionable," I said, my eyes wide with imagination.

Sky pursed her lips and gave me a long look. "He is the f*****g king. If he wanted to kill you, I don't think he would be worried about anybody questioning him. No offense but in this world, nobody cares if you are the human princess." I moved my hands to my hair and let out a deep breath. She had a point. Axel wouldn't need anyone's permission to kill me.

"But what if, what if he is only trying to do this so that his conscious would be clear?"

"Oh, Violet, you are so blind to these things. Do you know how many times he threatened to kill Sam because you got to sleep late? Or how he roars at Hilda for overworking you?" She said and my eyes narrowed. "Axel wouldn't do that..." I mouthed in disbelief.

But she rolled her eyes and got up. "Why do you think you never got to do most of the hard work back at the quarters? Or why do you think you got a better room?"

I shook my head once again as the information she was giving me, only added to the turmoil in my head and heart.

"You know what, we still have a few minutes to your picnic, come. Let's go see Sam and he will tell you everything!" She said.

"Sam?"

"Yes, Sam. He will explain everything to you. Everyone has seen how the king treats you and you are the only one in the dark. Come on let's get you into the light," she said with a smile dancing on her lips.

"I am only doing this because I haven't seen Sam in a while and not because I believe you," I said but deep down, I wanted the whole truth because this just complicated everything.

If Axel did all of these things for me; if he felt the way Sky was making it seem, why didn't he tell me? Why then did he say he could never be with me?

Sky pulled me out of the mansion and we headed to the slave quarters, but we made sure to avoid Hilda's route for fear that she would stop us.

By the time we got to the back of the quarters, we were giggling like little children.

"Okay, you wait here, let me go get him!" Sky said and disappeared before I could protest.

Not long after, Sam appeared with a big smile on his face. "If it isn't my favorite worker! Oops, forgot... Your Highness," he said making a dramatic bow.

I giggled at his antics and slapped his shoulder as he straightened up again. "Very funny Sam," I said.

"Oh it is and Sky tells me to prepare for wedding bells... When is that happening?"

My brows raised in shock but I knew better than to be surprised when it came to Sky.

"That girl is going to kill me one of these days. There is no wedding!" I said but I couldn't help but smile.

"But you should be ready for it. The King truly loves you. At first, I didn't understand." Sam explained, the smile on his face reducing as his features grew thoughtful. "I thought he was just being his cruel self but as the days went by and he kept asking about everything that concerned you... I knew it had to be matters of the heart," he exclaimed.

My heart skipped a beat at his words but the more rational part of me chose to remain unwavering. Axel couldn't have been in love with me, not after everything that surrounded us.

"Ah, I hope she believes you because now, it is the moment," Sky exclaimed as she suddenly appeared from the quarters.

"What moment?" Sam asked her.

"The King is going to propose!" She shrieked and Sam's mouth dropped.

"Are you kidding me?" His eyes were dancing with so much excitement and I could only shake my head at the bullshit Sky was feeding him with.

"Well, I am kidding but who knows? It might actually happen," she said and Sam looked like he would cry.

"You are crazy," I retorted and the three of us burst into laughter.

"Oh shit," Sky said looking at her watch. "Hilda is going to kill us! We need to get back!"

"Oh not before I get my royal hug," Sam said and turned to me with a big smile. "You are going to become the queen soon and then hugging you would become treason, may I please hug you now?" "Don't be silly Sam, of course," I said and wrapped my arms around him but as soon as our skin connected I felt cold glares on me.

Quickly, I broke away from Sam and turned in the direction of the house. My heart fell.

Axel was standing there with his eyes burning holes at me. "What the hell do you think you are doing?"
