The Lycan Series
Bullied By The Lycan King Chapter 51

Violet's POV

I marched down the corridor to Hilda's quarters where I knew Emily would be. As soon as I left the King's wing, I was met with a lot of slaves still moving through and I wondered why exactly they had to move them from there. As I got to her door, I knocked once and then pushed the door open.

There were about four people in the room with her, including her mate, and the moment I stepped in they all raised their heads from whatever they were looking at and I realized I must have interrupted something. "I am sorry... I can just come back," I said and moved to open the door once again but her voice stopped me.

"No Violet, come here. We will be rounding up soon," she said with firm eyes.

She motioned for me to sit on one of the chairs and she continued their hushed conversations.

"They will be coming through the big gates..." I heard one of the men blurt aloud.

"I don't fucking care about where they will be coming. Just make sure we have enough men securing the fucking place..." Emily hissed and their voices dropped again.

Whatever was going on must have been very serious for everyone to be this tense. And somehow, I couldn't help but worry about Axel. Why wasn't he back yet?

Did the new King in the south attack him? Had they found Hilda yet?

"That will be all. Make sure it is all executed before the King returns..." Emily's voice suddenly sliced through the thick tension above them and the men nodded before moving away.

The three other men with her started heading to the door but her mate remained and his gaze was no longer on whatever they were discussing it was on my face.

"That fucking includes you, Monty," Emily hissed.

A smirk sat on his face as he turned back to her. He placed a kiss on her temples and then walked out.

As soon as the door closed, I got up from my chair and went to Emily.

"What's going on? Where is Axel?" The questions came raining out of my mouth before I could stop myself.

Her eyes looked thoughtfully at me as if she was trying to decide if I deserved an answer or not. Then she dropped the papers she was holding and plopped herself in a chair. "Why are you here?" She asked and I guess I didn't qualify to get an answer to the questions I asked.

I could see the distrust in her eyes and I completely understood why she would feel that way about me. So, I decided to leave talks about Axel and focus on what I came for.

"I noticed that they were moving the slaves into the mansion, why is that?" I asked, hoping to start from an angle that seemed less suspicious.

"The enemy we are currently facing f*****g hates humans and we believe if he wants to attack, the first place he will want to think of is the slave quarters," she said, with her firm eyes never flinching away from mine.

Her explanation made my heart skip. If that was the case, then Sam was doomed.

"But my friend is still down there..." I said and her eyes narrowed.

"Then your friend is fucking stupid. Why aren't they moving with the rest." She pulled out a file and started going through it as if she was already done with me.

"No, Emily, that's not the case."

The dumped the file and glared at me but before she could let out even more curses, I explained:

"Axel placed him under punishment a few days ago and he is not supposed to leave the slave quarters and come over here... But this is a force majeure yet the guards refused to let him come here," I said, the strength in my voice starting to shake. "Why did Axel ask him not fucking leave the quarters? He must have done something," she said.

"He didn't do anything-"

"Are you saying the king is fucking irrational?" She asked and I saw the irritation move through her eyes.

"No, I am not saying that... It was just a misunderstanding. Please," I begged.

"A misunderstanding?" She asked her brows raised as she stared at me more closely. "Explain."

I moved closer to the edge of my seat and placed my fingers on the table between us.

"The thing is, Axel thinks that Sam and I have a thing together-"

"Do you?" She interjected before I could finish.

"No, there is nothing between us. He is just my friend-"

"Well, serves him fucking right. He should know that the property of the king is not supposed to be his fucking friend," she said in a dismissively dark tone.

My nerves stood in disgust at the term she had employed and everything within me wanted to scream that I wasn't Axel's property but it wasn't the right time. I had to hold it back so I could help Sam.

"He has a girlfriend!" I said through gritted teeth. "I stayed in the quarters with them for weeks, was I not supposed to talk to anyone? He was my supervisor and I had to get chore roasters from him. Tell me how I should have treated him?" "Cold and fucking nonchalant," she said with a shrug.

I rolled my eyes internally and my hold on the table tightened until my knuckles turned white.

"Emily, your nephew already broke his fingers for a crime he didn't commit! Please just let him come to the mansion like the rest of them. Axel doesn't even have to know!" I cried out. My desperation and frustration getting the better of me. She turned her head to the side and watched me with a strange emotion dancing in her eyes.

"You should be lucky he only broke his fucking fingers. I would have recommended total blindness. This way he wouldn't even get to see you anymore," she said and I felt one of the strings holding back my control snap into two. "How can you be so cruel?" I cried out, getting on my feet. "You will let an innocent man die?"

"Don't be fucking dramatic Violet. He is not going to die and he still has his fucking sight," she hissed, glaring back at me with the same intensity that I was using on her.

Unable to stop myself, I got off the chair, my chest puffing with anger. "If he won't be allowed back here, then I will join him out there!" I turned around and started heading to the door completely livid.

"You will do no such thing, Violet." Her voice suddenly filled the room but I was too angry to listen.

I burst out of the office and marched down to the slave quarters.

Just as I pushed the entrance door open, I felt a strong drag at my hand and I came face to face with Emily.

"Don't you have a f*****g brain?" She hissed, pulling me away from the door.

She pushed me to the side wall and held me in place. I was about to complain but I heard the heavy sounds of boots and I realized that Axel and the men were back.

We stayed there in silence until they had completely gone. Then she stepped away from me.

"You see why I said your friend was going to lose his fucking sight?" She hissed, moving her eyes over my body. "You are wearing a jumpsuit that barely has your ass covered and then you want to go safe him from the punishment Axel f*****g gave him!" "What do you think he would have done if he had seen you going in there?!" She yelled.

I pursed my lips as my eyes moved over my outfit. In my defense, she had been the one who told me to put it on and when I asked her to help me with Sam she wasn't of any help either.

"Well, I still have to bring him out of here," I mumbled, folding my arms across my chest.

"Yeah, I figured you wouldn't fucking listen!" She hissed, pushing me away, so she could go into the slave quarters herself. "And make sure you remain here!" She added before she moved inside.

My eyes narrowed at her and I regretted ever thinking she was very comfortable to be around or that she was a sweet person because she wasn't either of those. She was just like the rest of the werewolves, selfish and self-centered. And I was not going to listen to her.

I pushed the door open and stepped into the quarters myself.

She turned around at the sound of the door opening and as her eyes settled on me, she rolled them in anger.

"You are too f*****g stubborn!" She hissed.

But I didn't go in there to argue with her. I went to get my friend.

I hurried to his office and pulled the door open with his name on my lips.

"Sam..." But the sound died down as soon as it started.

There was no one there.
