The Lycan Series -
Bullied By The Lycan King Chapter 61
Violet's
POV
The sound of my racing heart filled my ears so much that my brain couldn't even produce the right defence for me. I just stood there turning my head between them. My father's nose was flared up and my mother was red with rage. They were angry with me but for what?
"All I have done is try to replace the best way to get you both freed. Why can't you understand this way you are thinking is wrong and it will get you killed?" I tried to explain to them. "The only reason I am going to die is because I have a daughter like you!" My father spat out before turning away from the bars.
"No, Father. You are going to die because you refused to listen to your daughter and preferred a wolf instead!" I retorted and my father stopped halfway.
This fueled me to continue on this path.
"Where is the widow now? She has run off and abandoned you two here. Yet you claim that I am the foolish one. Did you even know that she is Willow, the old king's ex-wife?" A dark chuckle erupted from his lips and my angry rants stopped.
"You think I didn't know?" He asked as he slowly turned to stare at me. "You think I didn't know who she was? Behind that veil is a woman who has been hurt by her kind... A woman who is ready to do whatever it takes to get her revenge... A woman I am happy to be working with! And mark my words, she will be the only animal I spare when I get out of here!"
As his words echoed in my head, I became too shocked to even think of a response.
Emily was right. The widow was Willow and she was back to get her revenge on Axel.
My mother's cold hands on mine snapped me out of the trance my father's words had dropped me into.
"You have disappointed us, Violet... But it's not too late, if you want to continue having parents, then you will use your position as the Lycan Mistress to complete this mission. The choice is yours, kill him or kill us... But remember, Willow will get us out of here no matter what, and if this happens, you will have to forget that you have parents."
My heart sank even further at her words. I could not believe that she had been reduced to this...
"Mum..." I called but as if that was the cue she had been waiting for, she pulled her hands away from mine. With that, she left my side at once and walked back to her bed.
"You both can't do this to me... The window will not save you. Don't you understand?" A sense of loneliness filled my insides and my sinking heart cracked.
It felt like the revolution was starting all over and I was losing them again.
My tears broke out of their barrier and descended freely onto my cheeks.
"The widow-Willow or whatever she is called... She is gone. She has packed and ran without you... What makes you think she will return for you? Why would she risk her life like that?" I cried out but neither of them even spared me a glance. It was as if I was talking to the wind. I was completely ignored.
There was no point screaming my lungs out. They had made up their minds, it was now my turn to make up mine.
"I don't want to lose you guys... I will do all that I can to save you..." I whispered before I turned away and headed out of the dungeon.
They had placed me in a very difficult position. I had always thought that it would be very easy for me to pick between my parents' life and other people... I would even place my life on the line if I had to but this was different.
I knew for certain that the Widow's plans were not going to work. She was as cruel as the worst of them. A lot of humans were going to die and I knew she wouldn't blink before betraying my parents.
For someone who could betray her husband to enemies, she would do worse to mere partners.
I would have to think of what to do to save everyone.
"Is the princess lost?" A voice resonated through the walls my emotions had built.
I turned sharply and came face to face with none other than Monty, Emily's mate.
Knowing the sort of person he was, I rolled my eyes and made to move away but he blocked my path.
"What? The princess can't speak?"
Maybe if I was in a better mood, I would have engaged him but after being threatened by my parents, entertaining a bored fool was the last thing on my list.
"What do you want from me?" I hissed, glaring at him.
"Uhh, you are so different... The only human I got used to was very mild and gentle. You are so fiery, one will think you are one of us..." He snickered.
"Well, welcome back to reality. I am not one of you. Can you get out of my way now?"
He stepped to the side and a wide grin appeared on his face; "The kingdom isn't very safe. You shouldn't be roaming around... Especially without an escort," he whispered as I waltzed past him. "I can take care of myself, thank you very much," I hissed as I continued walking down the corridor.
Thoughts of Monty faded away as soon as I left his aura but my mind was once again reminded of the trouble it was going through before he came along, my parents.
I had to help them, but how?
I was so lost in thoughts that I didn't realise when I got to the clinic, I just found myself watching Hilda from the window once again and sadness filled my insides.
She didn't deserve this and no one else deserves such a terrible fate, not even Emily. She already got enough penance by having a mate like Monty.
The only one who deserved this was the widow...
"Violet?" Sky's soft voice called to me.
I turned from my position at the window and stared at her.
"Who is Sam doing? Is he awake now?" I asked her.
"Yeah, he is. He was just asking after you..."
"We should go see him then," I suggested and she nodded in agreement.
"Was that Hilda back there?" Sky asked as we made our way to Sam's ward.
"Hmmm, yeah. That's her... That's what they did to her..."
Sky stopped at the door and placed a hand on her chest; "Oh my God! What exactly do they want from us?"
I only shook my head as I lacked the answer to give her. Rather, I just pushed the door and stepped in.
Sam was laying on the bed but as soon as the door opened and he saw that I was the one, he sat up at once and a warm smile covered his face.
"Violet... Thank you so much," he whispered as he began to pull himself out of the bed despite his broken fingers.
My brows furrowed at once and I closed the distance between us in record time to stop him from leaving the bed.
"What are you doing? The doctor instructed that you remain right here," I scolded.
"Oh, but it doesn't matter. I owe you my life," he said but I shook my head refusing that.
"No, you don't. You are in this condition because of me..." I whispered, my traitorous voice breaking at the end as I was suddenly overwhelmed by all the problems on my shoulders.
Just like I had placed him in this position, the decisions I took had the power to put him in an even worse case.
If I did what my parents wanted; if I killed Axel, the Widow would take over. The other threat that had hurt Hilda would also attack and that meant all humans in the mansion were going to be in trouble.
Maybe my parents would be saved, what about the rest? What about Sam, Sky, and everyone else?
But at the same time, if I did nothing, my parents were going to hate me for the rest of their lives.
"Violet, are you okay? You look troubled..." Sam said.
I wanted to lie to him but as I looked into his eyes I realised that I couldn't solve this on my own. I needed help from people I could trust and there was no one I trusted in the mansion more than Sam and Sky. So, with a deep breath, I told them what the problem was...
"I don't know what to do Sam... I can't kill Axel and at the same time, I don't want my parents to hate me..." I whispered, staring into space.
The room fell into silence and I felt Sky's hands on my shoulders as she tried to comfort me.
"You said their only wish is to get their freedom back, right?" Sam asked and I turned my eyes lazily in his direction. "Yeah..."
"What if we help them escape?" He blurted out and my eyes narrowed at once.
