The Lycan Series
Bullied By The Lycan King Chapter 62

Axel's POV

Two days had passed and the widow was nowhere to be found. Savannah had also managed to escape leaving me with nothing to verify. Rage filled my insides and all I wanted to do was scream at the top of my lungs.

I had made a very silly mistake.

I had brought my mother's enemy into the mansion that I was supposed to preserve. I brought her and I let her slip through my fingers. "Fuck!" I roared, kicking away the table.

For two days, I had gone with the guards moving through the forest, searching for Willow. Two days and nothing.

"Fuck!" I roared again as frustration blinded my eyes.

Aunt Emily and Greg wanted me to sit still while they continued with the investigations but I couldn't. I was going to lose my mind. According to them, I was the target in this coup d'etat but I didn't care. I was going to end all of this madness right now.

I folded my hands into fists and pulled myself out of the chair and started walking out of my office.

But just as I stretched my hand to pull the door, it flew open and Greg and Nathan stood there with worry etched on their faces.

"Aaliyah has sent word..."Greg said.

I knew they wanted to get in and discuss but I had done enough of that. If Aaliyah had sent word, it meant it was time for more action and fewer discussions.

I moved out of the office and began to march down the corridor. They had no choice but to walk behind me.

"What did she say? Where are they and how many soldiers do they have? And who the f**k is this new Lycan they all fear so much?" I growled.

"They have about a thousand men and they are holed up in a cave a few miles from the south," Nathan said.

I was nodding at his words as if they didn't weigh until the last part echoed in my head and my legs came to a stop.

"They are with the new king?" Even as the question left my lips, I knew the answer to it already.

My eyes turned to Greg and he slowly nodded as if he understood exactly what I was asking them.

"Aaliyah also saw Willow there. She got there this morning. Fergus and Kasper too. They plan on attacking soon," Greg filled in the last of the information.

Anger boiled within me at the betrayal of the people I had once considered to be allies but they were the least of my worries at this point. I was more concerned with ending Willow's life once and for all. My father might have not been able to kill her due to their bond but I was going to do it. I would cleanse the world of her presence.

"If they plan on attacking soon, we will attack them tonight. Get the men ready, we march out in an hour," I growled and resumed walking.

"But Axel, they have a Lycan with them. Don't you want to know who this is? What if it is your family?" Nathan asked.

His question was something I had already thought long and hard about the very first day I heard about the new Lycan King.

My rage to kill Willow blended with the pride of my kind. I was a Lycan. I knew my kind and what we were capable of.

"There is no Lycan, Nathan. It is all a bluff." I said with confidence.

Greg's brows furrowed and I knew his questions before he even asked them.

I turned to him, gesturing with my hands as I spoke.

"Think about it, Greg... If they truly had this new king they speak of, do you think they would have waited till now to attack with the number of men they have?"

I could see the light of comprehension spread through his face and slowly he began to nod as his wise eyes twinkled.

"We must make them continue thinking that we are dumb and still in the dark. Send a message to Aaliyah only when we are about to commence the attack to keep things right," I said. "Yes, my King," Nathan replied and I held his shoulder. I gave it a little squeeze.

"Mind you, you will not go with me. I want you to stay and man the mansion with Aunt Emily. I don't trust Monty," I said.

"But, Axel, I want to-I have to-" he started to say but I stopped him with another squeeze of his shoulder.

"I need Greg by my side. I need his experience in situations like this and I can't take father and son to war. That will be too cruel, even for a Lycan."

Nathan wanted to complain again but this time it was Greg who patted his shoulder. He turned to his father and they stared into each other's eyes like they were communicating.

I knew how much Nathan loved to be in the action. Like me, he also had a lot of scores to settle. The revolution had taken a lot from us but unlike me, he still had a father.

I watched as father and son exchanged silent words before Nathan agreed to stay. He bowed to me and went on to speak to the guards just like I had ordered.

"You may go on to the fields as well. I need to get something," I said to Greg and resumed walking.

But I heard his footsteps behind me. At first, I thought he was going to his own chambers for something as well, but when we passed that and he was still there, I turned and stared at him.

I was surprised that he was still following me...

"I just need to grab my gear and I will join them. Why are you following me, is there something else you'd like to say?"

He reached where I was and stopped walking too. He bowed his head and raised his eyes to look into mine; "I questioned Thalia two days ago, she says that she doesn't know anything about Savannah and the Widow but she overheard them speaking about you the night they disappeared..."

I shrugged my shoulders, not seeing the new information in that.

He raised his hands defensively, knowing fully well that I was about to counter him.

"She said she heard them planning how they were going to kill you in the war..." He added and my brows raised in amusement.

"If this is a way for you to prevent me from going, you need to stop... because it isn't working Greg. You should know that there is no way a bunch of women's gossip would make me back down from this fight. I have to end Willow myself. You of all people should know how important this is to me..." I pointed it out to him.

"No, that is not it... I didn't take Thalia's words seriously until now. You just pointed out a possibility I didn't consider but now, I know you are right... If it's true that they don't have a Lycan and this is just a big bluff as you say, then it might truly be a trap. They aim to get us to attack while they focus all their forces on you..."

My brows raised higher as I stared at him.

"This still sounds like you are asking me to back off, Greg," I said.

"No..." He started to say and then paused, "Well, yes I do not want you to go. But it is not without a good reason. Think about it, they know they can't win this so all they are trying to do is lure you to their staged field so they can end you."

I watched him closely for a second and then nodded as if I agreed with his thoughts.

"I will keep that in mind when I am on the battlefield Greg," I said and turned to resume my walk but my legs stopped once again.

"I think Greg is fucking right. You shouldn't go," Aunt Emily's voice joined us in the corridor.

"It is too fucking risky. Axel, you are all that we have... You are all that I f*****g have..." There was a crack in her voice but she pursed her lips and swallowed her emotions.

I let out a deep sigh and closed up the distance between us. "Aunt, I understand how you feel. But I want you..." Then I turned to Greg too, "I want both of you to relax. I will be fine. This is a puny coup d'etat and these men haven't seen war in years. They know nothing about tactics and strategies the way Greg and Aaliyah do... You really think they can win this?"

Aunt Emily stretched her hands to my cheeks and shook her head sadly; "that's the fucking problem, Axel... They don't need to fucking win. All they need is to kill you... Once they do that, we are doomed..."
