The Lycan Series
Bullied By The Lycan King Chapter 66

Axel's POV

"Axel, it was a trap," Greg said beside me.

I was frozen to the spot as my head started working at a thousand thoughts per second. I thought I was on top of the plan. I thought I had figured it all out and this was going to be an easy victory.

But I was terribly wrong, and I had realized that they were two steps ahead of me.

If they weren't here, there was only one move they could make that would make them win this -and that was attacking my city while I was here searching for them.

My wolf sizzled with anger within me as I realized that the very thing I was avoiding was happening again -an attack on my people.

"Contact Aaliyah right now and replace out where they are. Gather the troops, we are heading back to the capital, right now!" I growled and turned back at once.

As I walked back to the driver, my heart started pounding with fear. If Fergus was really aiming for the capital, then he was going to start his attack on the humans to show his stand and then if Willow was really a part of his group, they would want to take Violet hostage.

My heart squeezed at this possibility and my wolf started moving uneasily within me.

My insides became chaotic with every second that passed and by the time I got to the vehicle, my hands were shaking with anxiety.

"Get me back to the capital and drive like your fucking ass is on fire!" I growled at the driver the second I got in.

I refused to think of how much damage Fergus and his troop of nitwits were capable of doing before I got there. I found myself praying to the goddess to protect her.

It was already hard enough for me to replace Violet and to think that I had tried to push her away, but the goddess made sure I failed at that. So, she couldn't take Violet away from me. No, that would be too cruel for her to do. Not after everything she made me go through.

The journey back to the capital was supposed to be about two hours at the speed at which we were moving but it felt like ten hours had gone by the time I noticed the smoke rising in the sky coming from the direction of the mansion.

F**k.

My phone started vibrating in my pocket and I quickly picked it hoping by some miracle that it was Emily calling to tell me that they had managed to attack them.

"Axel don't go in there on your own, we are only a few miles behind you," I heard Greg's voice and my eyes rolled in irritation. Did he really think I would listen to him at this point?

I ended the call without a response and dumped the phone to the side. Without signaling to the driver, I pulled the door open and jumped out of the vehicle.

I transformed into my wolf midair and ran with all my abilities glowing around me in full force towards the burning mansion.

My heart was racing with fear and panic about what Fergus could do to Violet and the rest of my people.

This fear was what drove me straight to the building.

As I got there, I realized that it wasn't the mansion that was burning but the slave quarters yet that was the least of my worries." The sound of tearing flesh and clanking metal filled the air as my eyes moved toward the source, that was where my worries lied. I could barely see my men as their meager number tried to fight back because Fergus's men were just too many. It was only a matter of minutes before they broke through their defenses, and they knew this.

Their attack mode was more to tire my men out than to beat them.

My soldiers were still a few miles out and if I decided to wait like Greg had advised, then we would lose. And if that happened, it meant Violet wouldn't be able to be saved.

I was hoping that she and Aunt Emily were all in the mansion and all I had to do was make sure the enemy didn't breach the entrance.

So, without a second of hesitation, I let out a deafening roar, catching the enemy by surprise. I jumped at them, tearing and slashing through bodies as I charged forward.

My men were suddenly motivated and slowly the course of the fight started shaking but it wasn't enough. No matter how many 1 killed, more kept replacing them. They were like ants, swarming out of a hole, ready to attack and get their trophy no matter the price.

My men and I didn't give up either, we fought hard, pushing and retaliating as much as we could but we soon found ourselves cornered. My wolf tried to break free, but the enemy's numbers were too great.

They launched strong nets laced with wolfsbane over us and as much as I tried to break free, the wolfsbane filtered stronger into my furs. Panic started to rise within me as I realized that I was losing

I let out a deafening roar. My heart was racing and my ears burning

AMy panic and fears weren't for me but for Violet. If they captured me, it meant I couldn't protect her. The realization made me increase my struggles with the net but it was futile, my strength was starting to dwindle and soon I was drained.

My body collapsed to the floor and my wolf was forced to return to my head, leaving my human form to deal with the wolfsbane.

My breathing became labored and as I looked around me, disappointment clouded my very soul. I had failed my men. Most of them had not even been able to put up a fight with the wolfsbane, they lay lifeless beside me with their eyes strained on me. Pain whipped through me, and my eyes reddened as my teeth clenched hopelessly trying to think of a way out. I couldn't lose now, not after putting up a good front for fifteen years...

Maybe I should have listened to Greg and just waited for them, but these men wouldn't have gotten this far if I had done that. What sort of a King would it have made me if I abandoned my men at a time like this?

The sound of heavy boots suddenly filled the courtyard and my head snapped in that direction as my thoughts numbed.

My eyes zoomed in on who was coming and the anger within me pushed to the surface fueling my muscles once again.

I tried to fight the net again, but it remained intact, leaving me even more frustrated than I already was.

"Fergus!" I growled at him.

He came to stop right before me and he lowered himself to his knees, so he could, look into my eyes.

"Hello, my King.." His slimy voice echoed in my ears. "Or should I say my slave?" he asked, before throwing his head back in an excited cackle.

His excitement hit my chest with a heavy blow. If I was told that someone like Fergus would outsmart me in this manner. I would have never believed it.

His words brought a deep searing pain which was even greater than the burning wolfbane on my skin. All I wanted to do was to fucking peel off Fergus's skin from his body and feed it to feral wolves.

"I"would fucking run far away from here if I were you..." I hissed as I glared at the smug look on his face. "Greg and the rest of my men are coming... the moment they get here, I am going to tear you into pieces for daring this Fergus!" I added.

His brows knitted into a line before a grin morphed on his face and he released another irritating echo of laughter.

"You don't understand what is going on here... do you child king?" he asked in a dark tone and my-brows rose in confusion.

"Ah, I see you do not comprehend what is happening... I will explain but first meet my partners." He spread his arms to his side, and I followed the movement to replace Willow and Savannah standing on either side of him.

"Finally, we have you captured..." Savannah sang, and I didn't even bother turning my eyes to her side.

She was like a tiny little cub amongst bigger wolves. I could end her even in my weakened state. My eyes were strained on Willow.

My claws were pushing out of my skin, eager to scratch off her skin and end her completely.

As if she could sense what was going on in my head, Willow lowered herself to my level and stretched her fingers dramatically to the long veil on her face.

Then she pulled it off her face. Her icy cold blue eyes flashed over my face, yet my eyes settled on the ugly scar on her face.

"Emily gave me this scar and Talon ignored my cries..." she whispered as she let her long fingers brush over the scar.

"He made me live in the dungeon for years and I had to endure all your irritating cries as a child... I had promised myself that I would get my revenge, no matter what... and now, after so many years, I am going to watch you die a death so degrading and painful that your disgusting and pathetic mother will wish she never birthed you...
