The Lycan Series -
Bullied By The Lycan King Chapter 68
Violet's
POV
My eyes were starting to pop out. I could not breathe, he was killing me.
If I wanted to survive, I was going to have to do something and fast. I imagined the way I have seen soldiers jump on one another during practice. If I could just manage to get my legs to move high enough, I could give him a killer blow that would render him incapable of harming me.
With a perfect plan in mind, I started trying to move my legs, but the man's hold on me was like a rock-hard mountain. Nothing I did was even noticeable.
My head was starting to get heavy, and my strength was diminishing but I refused to give up, I continued struggling until I was able to move my legs. I had barely brushed him when a heavy thud echoed in the corridor and the man holding me froze.
At first, I thought it was my kick that had gotten to him, but I noticed the blood begin to escape from his nose and eyes. My barely-there kick couldn't have done that...
I didn't have to question myself for long, as immediately the man collapsed, I saw the cause of his misfortune, Emily.
My eyes dimmed at her presence.
She had taken my moment and she stole my victory by hitting the enemy on the head with a very heavy-looking sledgehammer.
"Didn't I fucking tell you to remain in that room? Why the f**k did you disobey me?" she hissed harshly, her nose flaring with anger like she was in the right here.
I wanted to scream back at her, but there was just no point. Unlike her, I understood that we were in the middle of a war and petty arguments were not necessary right now.
"I am asking you a fucking question, Violet?" She hissed, taking a step closer to me.
My hands went to my neck, and I rubbed it slowly as I shrugged at her question, "Isn't it obvious, I want to help too."
"What the f**k?" Emily gasped running her fingers through her hair.
"It is the same thing you are doing," I added. "Look around you, they are winning and if we all remain locked up in the rooms, they will beat all our soldiers and come for us," I pointed out. "I don't want to be a slave anymore. I am not going to sit still and do nothing!"
Emily looked more than frustrated, she sealed her lips and placed her hands on her waist as she watched me. Her claws emerged from her hands and returned so fast I lost count of the movements. When she stopped, she turned to me;
"You are only going to do something fucking stupid again if I leave you here or try to lock you up. So, come with me," she said and started heading in the opposite direction of the battlefield before I even gave her a reply.
My brows furrowed as I wondered what she had planned. Knowing her, she might want to throw me into another hole and keep me there against my will. What she just said, didn't change a thing.
Besides she was going in the wrong direction; "The war is this way," I called pointing back at the open fields behind her. "Where are you going?"
She stopped moving and turned to me, "You just f*****g said it, our soldiers are losing, if they are going to stand a chance, they will need help," she said but my confusion didn't clear out.
Whatever help she was going to give them was the other way and not where she was headed.
"I am going to get more wolves to join this f*****g battle," she added as if she had read my thoughts and I understood.
I followed behind her and together we weaved through the walls, taking sharp turns and avoiding any enemy soldier we found on the way.
We finally got to the back exit and Emily stepped out first, knocking off two enemy soldiers that were standing guard there. She was strong but I hated the fact that she was showing off as she knocked them off so effortlessly. "I could handle myself too you know," I mumbled as I walked past the bodies she had dealt with.
I heard her scoff behind me, but it was typical of her to behave in that manner. As always, I preferred to be more concerned with protecting my people than anything else.
She caught up with me and pulled out her phone, then she typed a couple of keys on them before placing it to her ears. "Where the fuck are you?" she hissed.
I turned to study her expression wondering who she was speaking to. She had told me that we were going to get more wolves but so far so good, it looked more like she was escaping from the war.
"You left about a fucking hour ago. They are not going to f*****g make it, Monty..."
As she mentioned her mate's name, my brows rose, and I blinked with disbelief. She wasn't putting the lives of over a hundred people on her irresponsible mate, was she?
"Fuck," she hissed as she peeled the phone off her ears and looked straight ahead with reddened eyes.
She resumed walking and I followed, silently hoping she had a very good plan up her sleeves.
We got to a sort of cave in the cave, just small enough to house the two of us. The cave had tiny pebbles on the bottom that lined its edges like someone had taken their time to decorate the place with a pebble pattern. Aside from that, it also provided, a perfect spot to scout. We could sight anyone coming from a reasonable distance, as the cave looked out to the cleared fields ahead of us.
Emily pulled out her phone for the second time and the same conversation went on. When she was done, she stared straight ahead and hissed every ten seconds as if she was surprised that Monty had obviously failed her again.
I found a good spot to sit on an extruded rock and watched her. The war was going on back there and more men were dying while she stood here just hissing.
My patience had completely thinned out and I knew that if I continued waiting and listening to her, I would lose my mind.
"So, what now?" I asked her.
I didn't want to point it to her that her mate wasn't going to turn up because, for her sake, I hoped that she would come up with another plan.
She placed her hands on her waist and started pacing, "We wait. We don't have a f*****g choice..."
I got up from my position on the rock and moved towards her. "Oh, we do have a choice, Emily."
She stopped pacing and stared at me with raised brows, "And what the f**k is that?"
I pointed in the direction of the mansion like it was supposed to be the most straightforward arithmetic, yet she failed to see it. So now, I had to literally point it to her.
"We obviously head back there and help them!" I hissed.
Emily's reddened orbs seemed to brighten and for a brief second, I thought I saw her smile before she shook her head.
"If we survive this shit, remind me to enroll you in some form of training. Your kind of spirit would be good for the army..."
My impatience was replaced with anger, and I was close to pushing her to the ground. "Don't you understand what is going on? Or are you planning something else?" I yelled. "Axel, my parents, my friends... they are all in there and you expect me to just stay here?" "Yes, Violet. I expect you to fucking do just that. What the f**k do you think you can do if you get there? Hold a sword and smile at the f*****g enemy?" she retorted.
My eyes narrowed and I was coming up with the perfect comeback when a large mist of dust suddenly started growing from the far side of the cleared fields and my eyes somehow caught it.
"Finally," Emily hissed, and I turned back to stare at her.
-That was when I noticed that the tiny pebbles lining the walls of the cave were now vibrating at the intensity of whoever was approaching us.
"Is he here?" I asked with raised brows.
Rather than respond, she completely stepped out of the cave and strained her neck forward as if she could see that far.
I followed her, still unable to believe that it was Monty. Even when I saw a large number of combat vehicles and pickup trucks heading our way as if they were coming to pull down the devil himself, I still couldn't believe it. The vehicles took the direction of the mansion and Emily tapped my arm.
"Come on! I must fucking see this... these fools are about to be fried!" she called above the noise of the moving vehicles.
