The Lycan Series
The Lycan King’s Breeder Chapter 33

Talon's

POV

All of a sudden, I was filled with something I couldn't decipher. A strong feeling of arousal bubbled up in me, I could tell Avalyn had walked into the room, I didn't even need to see her to sense her presence. Her scent, out of the hundreds of people that were in the But there was a change in her scent that made my eyebrows raise in

room, quickly filled my nose as she stepped into the dining hall.

Willow must have noticed the flare in my heartbeat because she gave me a concerned look. "Are you all right?"

I nodded my head at her, not saying a word.

I really didn't want to be here, everything irked me. The people, the noise. If I wasn't king, if my presence wasn't required here, I would be locked away in bed with Avalyn right now.

Avalyn -Not Willow.

"So when do you think it's going to happen, Lydia?" Willow's voice brought me back to the conversation that was currently going on.

"That I cannot tell, Luna. It'll happen at the goddess's own time."

Willow scoffed at Lydia's words. "Then, the goddess better hurries up. The girl is wasting too much time on a simple task."

Lydia didn't respond, she adjusted her glasses that were slipping down her nose bridge and stared ahead.

I felt my shoulders tense as I saw Monty and Tristan approaching our table. The boy was really treading on a thin line, if I didn't control my inner wolf on several occasions, he would have been a mess of bloodied guts and organs on the floor.

Goddess knew I didn't give a fuck for peace and their alliance, but Greg had advised for it. Everyone knew what was coming, they could feel it. They'd been reports from several packs to the capital of attacks on their villages and homes. As much as I hated to admit it, Greg was right, we needed this alliance to fight this coming war. It was what my own father would have wanted.

"My king." Tristan bowed as he got to the table. He pulled out the chair next to Lydia and took his seat.

"Hello, Alpha Talon." Monty drawled out as he slumped into his seat.

There was something about this boy that already made me want to murder him. The ever-present smirk on his face every time I saw him was already hard to bear, then, his sudden interest in Avalyn made me despise him even more.

And to make matters worse, there was nothing I could do, I was a mated king. Killing an Alpha's son all because he was interested in my Luna's 'maid' was just absurd.

"I hope you're having a grand time here in our territory?" Willow asked politely. It was her job to make the guests feel welcome.

"A very splendid one, Luna. Thank you." Tristan replied with a smile.

I droned out the conversation going on around me as I thought back to what Greg had told me earlier. Emily was in Dark-moon when it had gotten attacked.

That girl really had a knack for going to places she wasn't supposed to. I hadn't even informed Willow my sister was back, and neither had I told her I was going to be leaving the capital for a few days with Greg.

"Alpha! We're here with Miss Avalyn." Greg's voice brought me to real time.

I locked eyes with Avalyn and felt my eyes widen a bit, the girl was beautiful. Every time I tried to convince myself that I felt nothing for her, it just kept coming back tenfold.

"Alpha..." Her soft voice greeted. It took everything in me not to take her right then and there.

I offered her my hand and asked her to join the table, I knew it wasn't proper or ideal, but I just didn't care, I had to feel her skin on mine. I felt a slight hesitation from her as she pulled her hand away, I looked to my left and noticed Willow glaring at the girl. "I have to admit, Talon -my bad, Alpha Talon- your pack is quite lovely." Monty's mocking voice drawled out like nails on a chalkboard.

I glared at him as my eyes filled with red. I was so going to kill this kid tonight, not a single person was going to stop me. Alliance be damned!

I felt Willow's fingers brush softly against my wrist as she tried to calm me down, it worked. I let the raging storm in my mind calm down as I answered him. I would teach him and his father a lesson, I would return his mauled remains to his father's pack, and maybe then Tristan would learn to teach his other son some respect.

When we had all gotten settled down and the dishes were being served, Monty's attention immediately shifted to Avalyn, and he began asking her one question after the other. The boy was a total idiot. He didn't even realize how uncomfortable he made her feel. "And what about you Avalyn? I take it you have no mates, are you looking for one?" At one point, Monty asked. I watched as he ran his finger across Avalyn's lips and then licked the digit clean.

I felt my blood boil as I glared at him. I was sure the heat that was radiating off my body was suffocating as I felt the atmosphere become dense. I was so close to losing my cool and gnawing his head right off his body at that moment, but I had to keep my cool. I knew what he was doing, and what his game was. He must have noticed my reaction earlier and concluded that Avalyn wasn't just a palace maid. He wanted me to snap, he wanted me to lose all reasoning.

But I wasn't going to. After all, to him and his father, Avalyn was just Willow's maid, and would a King attack his guest for a common maid?

I watched on as he pestered the girl and tried to draw answers out of her. I only interjected when I felt Avalyn panic as she didn't know what to tell him.

The uncomfortable dinner drawled out for longer than I'd anticipated. By the time Willow and I excused ourselves from the table, Cassie and Dawn were also long gone.

We made it to the room and immediately, Willow threw her hands around my neck and pulled me closer.

"What's going through your mind, Talon?"

"I don't know. What you-"

"Don't lie to me." Willow hissed, glaring at me and stopping my words in my throat.

We stood quietly, just staring at each other. It was obvious she had noticed the way I was filled with rage at the dinner, she had taken note of my change in attitude. It was all because of my newfound feelings for Avalyn, but of course, I couldn't tell her that. "Emily is in Dark-moon," I said, ignoring her question.

I didn't miss the shock that crossed her face. "And I'm going there with Greg in two days, their pack was attacked. We suspect it's some of Desmond's men." I pulled myself from her hold and turned my back to her.

"I'm going with you," Willow stated.

"No, you're not. You're staying here with Avalyn."

Willow let out a loud scoff. "So now I'm on babysitting duty? Dawn and Lydia can take care of the slut, I don't have to be here."

I felt my fist clench at the derogatory word, but I didn't turn back to look at Willow. I couldn't.

"Did you see the way she was all over Tristan's son? That girl is a good-for-nothing whore. All she knows how to-"

I didn't wait to hear the rest of the insults hurling through her mouth. Without warning, I walked out of the room and into the hall, in the direction of Avalyn's room.

"Where are you going, Talon?" I heard Willow's confused voice call out.

"Avalyn." Was all I muttered, but I was sure she heard me loud and clear

I was tired of denying myself what I clearly wanted.
