The Princess’s Broken Alpha -
Chapter 15
Indigo sat up straight staring at the blonde haired man before her in disbelief. The horror of it all curling painfully in the pit of her stomach. The quietness inside the room was deafening and the light above them started to flicker.
After a while she silently got up and went to a small box and pulled out a huge red snake that quickly slithered itself around her arm as she lovingly petted it. She seemed to be deep in thought, briskly pacing back and forth before sitting down in the old chair. Her face was contorted in a deep scowl as her yellow eyes pinned him. Do you understand what it means to chain someone's wolf?" she asked arrogantly, gesturing with her hand in the air and the snake hissed at him, baring its long fangs.
"
Castor didn't flinch and she continued.
"Have you ever seen a dog chained before? In the same spot for hours, days, weeks, months going to a year?"
The question hung in the air and Indigo leaned forward.
"It causes severe psychological damage. You have a friendly dog that turns neurotic. Can you imagine the effect this would have on a wolf? The effect this would have on her? This isn't something to do lightly" she wickedly sneered at him. "And I'm asking you to do it" he replied indifferently.
"This will be beyond excruciatingly painful for her. For those who do carry out this kind of work it is best done when a werewolf has started to sense their wolf, coming of age. To chain a wolf that has already been free and knows nothing else is almost like a death sentence. Most never recover when it is done and those that do are never the same! She probably will die in this process!"
She was shaking her head furiously at him trying to talk reason into him, letting him know what was at stake. "You would do such a thing to her?"
She would not be blamed if his Princess dies from this. But Castor would hear none of it. He had made his peace.
It was what he needed to be king. There were a thousand leeches, council men's sons and Jackson's waiting for the coveted and illusive throne. This would cement him as the next king of beasts. This was the golden ticket every Lycan male had torn themself apart trying to get. Her. He could see and feel the envy every time he walked beside her. How other council men burned internally that Pearlor's son walking beside her looked the perfect king and their son wasn't measured enough to receive her rare smiles.
She barely paid men any attention, absorbed in her duties but men paid attention to her. She is exceptionally beautiful. It is hard not to. It was the way she carried herself, the way she talked, confident and self assured. And she was right under his nose, he was the closest to get to her and he wouldn't let her slip out of his fingers. He had not waited all these years for another to come and take what he had worked so hard for.
He had a deal for Indigo that she couldn't refuse. A deal that could get the witch to give him what he needed most in this world right now.
"When I do replace her I have to make sure she doesn't go anywhere again. She will relentlessly fight this no matter what happens and I need her to keep quiet and willingly agree to me before the council men and her father. If she still has her beast then she is still connected to him through the mate bond and it will be a problem until the mating ceremony."
Marking her beforehand wouldn't solve the problem plus she had to be unmarked for their ceremony. The problem was getting her to keep quiet and he couldn't have any slip ups.
"And if she is connected to him through the mate bond she will always belong to him thinking of nothing else. She will always be in anguish. She would pose a threat to you. Her wolf would fight for its mate especially if they meet and form a deep connection. So you have to numb her." Indigo finished for him smiling wide at him as the snake wrapped around her flickering its tongue at its visitor. It was strange to her the things love made people do. His mesmerizing blue eyes were waiting impatiently on her decision. She could see he was annoyed with her.
"You would dare to interfere in what the moon goddess has put together?"
Castor shot her a deathly glare.
"
'It was a mistake" he grunted.
"A mistake? On who's account?"
He growled threateningly at her and she laughed standing. Her dress swung around her feet. She leaned over the box to put the snake back and it slithered unwillingly back to its quarters. "What if by the time you have already found her she is marked and mated?"
"She isn't", Castor gritted out trying to maintain his cool. The witch was riling him up. He just wanted her to tell him if she'd do the damn job or not. Again he'd been here long enough.
"She has to not only get her father's approval but the council as well. It is protocol for her."
"She doesn't seem to follow protocols."
He got up and slowly walked over to her chair. It was time to level the field.
The witch was right about that one. If she followed protocols and listened to daddy dearest then he wouldn't be in this damn mess. He wouldn't be in a strange smelling boarded shack trying to bargain with a witch.
He slowly walked behind her as her eyes followed him and stopped to rest his arms on the armrests leaning over her.
"Which side will you be on Indigo?" he deeply breathed out. His breath fanned her neck and she gave a light shiver. He couldn't exactly trust her as she had no loyalty to anyone but herself. Witches couldn't be trusted. He leaned his tall figure closer to her. "The location spell won't replace her directly with that necklace Castor, it's too old. Though she made it, it is more yours than hers. You would need something personal of hers that she has daily, more recent. Also she isn't just a regular Lycan, this is the daughter of Arthur Reviere. The same blood runs through her veins. The strength and power of her wolf will be hard to contain."
He placed a loc of her hair behind her shoulder making sure to skim his fingers over her shoulder, watching tiny goosebumps appear in its trail.
"Well it would mean you're not good at what you do now wouldn't it?" he asked challengingly. He was okay with having to replace her himself through tracking. It would be impossible to get to her room without anyone noticing. However, the other part was a requirement.
"What do I get?" Indigo demanded.
Castor smiled devilishly. He didn't come unprepared as she thought he did. She had underestimated him just like everyone else.
"I've heard a lot about you Indigo."
Her fingers wrapped around his arms as she listened to him. He ran his fingers through her hair and leaned in to whisper his delicious secret in her ear. It was too late for Indigo. By the time he whispered into her ear and she could register it he yanked her hair slamming her head hard against the back of the chair.
"Ah!" she screamed.
His claws wrapped around her neck. Her eyes widened in terror and there was nothing she could do. He knew her secret.
"Now you're going to be a good little witch and make sure this goes flawlessly."
His sharp claws were piercing her neck and she slowly nodded to him in agreement as a tear slipped from the corner of her eyes.
