Zion was fuming. Out of all the time it was now! He couldn't catch a fucking break. What was next?

The first thing to hit him was her smell and then it toppled him like a wave. He knew it the very moment he felt it. He had to fight to breathe. But this was different. This was more than different and could not in any way compare to the first. He ran a hand over his light beard in frustration and his other hand found the edge of the coffee table as his rage surged. The more he saw her face the angrier he got. He violently threw the table across the room watching it splinter into pieces against the wall. The books and small vase went with it shattering and flying everywhere.

By the time he was finished, the office was a mess, broken furniture and shattered glass lying everywhere. He wanted to curse the Moon Goddess for this fucking cruel joke. Not only was he now mated, but to a Lycan. A damn Lycan.

He'd thought she would leap at the opportunity to reject him but unfortunately she didn't. She had sent him for a complete 360 by refusing to accept it. She was beyond irritating and he detested the feelings she was invoking in him. What could she possibly want? He was of no use to her and he had nothing to offer her. He had to get rid of her and fast. He couldn't risk the bond getting stronger. If only she wasn't so determined. He had to get it through to her some way somehow that he didn't want her. There was nothing she could do for him. She was a waste.

She was probably trying to teach him a lesson because he'd rejected her first and wanted the upper hand for a while so she could do it. But for how long would she do this little stunt? He made up his mind a long time ago that a mate wasn't for him and he had it all planned out. And the huntress was going to play along come hell or high water.

The door opens and he looks up from the floor as Daniel halts abruptly looking down at the whirlwind of a mess crunching under his shoes.

"Goddamn this is a mess". He slams the door behind him just as Samuel bursts through to enter.

"What is it?" Zion asks solemnly glowering at them both.

"Your huntress hasn't come down for dinner." Samuel puts in leaning against the wall and folding his arms.

"I'm not her babysitter", Zion grits out." And she isn't my fucking huntress"

Daniel blows out a breath and looks around at the floor. He looks stressed out, trying to cautiously approach this with Zion.

"We're in deep shit" Daniel says, looking at his brother worriedly, raising his hand in frustration to wave at the floor." If she retaliates for all of this or complains in any way saying that we mistreated her then we will be in problems." "For what?! Everyone has the right to reject their mate!"

"I doubt she'd want anyone to know she got rejected by her mate plus it would get worse when everyone replaces out he's in a wheelchair. You're hyperventilating for nothing." Samuel says boredly.

"This is a Lycan sent by the council!" Daniel looked like he was about to have a stroke. He would be worrying about this for the next five years. Samuel always says he will be the first to lose his hairline. Samuel sucks air through his teeth and frowns.

"To be honest she did look like she was about to cry. Zion, you really did a number on her."

"She's a big girl, she'll get over it. I have no obligation to her"

Daniel steps back to look at him incredulously.

"No obligation to her? I'm not a fan of Lycans especially since our last incident but she really looks devastated. You could maybe give her a chance. I mean what do you have to lose?"

The room went tense and the quiet became deafening. Samuel nervously looked between both his brothers and stood up straight. This wasn't good.

"Where the hell do you get off telling me what to do?" Zion growled and his aura spread like a force.

"You're right" Daniel gives in. He didn't mean it that way. He just thought maybe this could be his second chance.

"The last I checked you wanted to replace a side piece!"

"You know damn well that's not what I meant!" Daniel roared.

"Say what now?" Samuel chipped in with surprise.

"You should be the last goddamn person giving advice."

"I can't believe you're going there." Daniel says incredulously, pacing back and forth.

"It's not so nice now when it's on you, isn't it Daniel? You know I'm just about sick of you. Always lagging around behind me like a fucking tag along. We're not twins. You're like a damn itch that I can't get rid of. But then again you don't have a family to occupy your time."

Daniel lunges after Zion, his canines showing but Samuel catches him and pulls him back.

"You're gonna beat up a cripple?" Zion laughs cruelly.

"You don't count", Daniel snarls.

"You were always weak and you wouldn't win. Get out"

Something in Daniel's face looked crushed and he looked away holding his head down to brush past Samuel.

Samuel knew it was his time to leave as well.

"For what it's worth, she looks like she'll cave by tomorrow." he says quietly.

"We're meeting with her tomorrow morning after breakfast so she can meet the border patrols and if she's up to it I'll show her around if that's okay with you. The sooner they replace their missing Lycan the sooner she will leave." "Don't make her too comfortable."

Samuel knew his brother more than Zion thought he did. He was good at observing.

"This is self sabotage isn't it?"

Zion didn't answer him or look at him. He took the silence as a reply and left.
