The Princess’s Broken Alpha -
Chapter 41
"Finally I've actually gotten a hold of you. I heard you found a new mate and moved on. And a lycan?!" the astonished voice filled the office.
The red head walked into his office and he was quick to notice that from the many times she visited the pack this time she wasn't with her mate. John had come with her every time they came in their shiny Tesla and expensive clothes. Her almond eyes showed no delight in this though she was smiling. "You look well Alpha. I've been trying to get a hold of you for the longest time and you've been avoiding me Zion. I thought you'd be excited to see me"
She was dressed in an apricot coloured dress accessorized with expensive jewelry. Looked like she was milking him well for all he was worth. Better John than him. John was a banker who owned a small but flourishing bank. She had left and latched on to him as his second mate after his wife died in an invasion his pack fought against. He had two young children and Zion wondered how she was doing playing step mother. She would try to keep up her role as John seemed to care for his children and she needed whatever he could provide. She couldn't risk losing her lavish life unless there was a better life somewhere else.
He didn't answer her as her eyes shone bright at him. He couldn't believe he had actually been head over heels for her. There was nothing redeeming about her the more he looked.
"They say you upgraded. Where is she? The whole place is buzzing about her, heard she was gorgeous and here is a new luna in town. Seems someone else has my old spot. I've never met a lycan before you should introduce us. I would love to meet her" Why was she so interested in Anastasia? Zion didn't care. He just needed her to state her purpose and leave.
"Why are you here?"
She pushed her red hair over her shoulder.
"It's why I'm always here Zion. I want back in the pack and my husband and his kids would come with me. John would be a great asset to your pack and this is practically my home. I miss being here." Uh huh
"You have to follow procedure like everyone else and then Daniel will decide if you and your husband a will be given a trial stay in the pack."
She wanted her husband would just drop everything and haul his kids over here for her without considering that he would have to move them and his kids to a pack that isn't theirs because she felt like it.
Daniel did do the applications and they hardly if ever had any new members and they were happy with that. They had to be deserving and Zion knew Daniel would never look at her application.
" Why does Daniel have to do it?" She folded her arms "Why can't you do it?"
"Because it would be a conflict of interest."
She brightened at this and he realized she was taking that for interest.
"Not that kind of interest. That died a long time ago and to be honest it wasn't all that great"
Jessie was offended and her eyes darkened.
"So now you are mated to a lycan and you think you're better than me? Sure it wasn't perfect but those times when everything was good you have to admit it was magical. Zion I was young and I made a few mistakes. That's another reason I came today and I didn't bring John with me this time. I'm thinking of leaving John and maybe we could rekindle our bond. Ever since my parents told me you found a new mate I haven't been able to stop thinking about you. They agree as well that I made a huge mistake and I know I did some messed up stuff but I'm hoping you won't hold it against me. It's not fair for her to come and enjoy what is rightfully mine. We could start over."
He blinked at her. She must really be losing her mind.
"Jessie you're overstepping the line now."
"Life with John is boring plus I have to be taking care of kids that aren't mine and I miss you"
"You'll survive" Zion clipped.
"You will always belong to me. You were mine first and I want you back. Even Lisa agrees. She was the one who told me you were here so I could get a chance with you and Lisa has always been a good judge of things."
He could feel his annoyance peeking. She really thinks she can just just use him, toss him to the side and then come back for him when her jealousy and insecurity starts to surface.
"First of all I don't belong to you and as I said before it wasn't all that special. It was more stress than anything and it wasn't worth it"
"Wow. We're really playing this game Zion." she said sadly and pressed the dress out with her palms. She was trying her old tactics to manipulate him. "I always knew you were extraordinary but I just wasn't ready then but I am now. You told me you loved me. We had real love. Have you told her you loved her? And I don't see a mark on your neck so technically you're still available. Just really think about it."
"And what would you tell John?"
"That it didn't work out and move on. It was a disaster taking him up with two kids from the jump. He takes them everywhere and I have to be playing step mom 24/7!"
She was selfish. As long as she was happy nothing else mattered. The more she talked the more he was disgusted with her.
"What does she have that I don't have besides being a lycan?" Jessie asked.
"Everything"
"I took care of you"
"By humiliating and leeching off of me."
Zion couldn't believe this was happening.
She laughed dryly.
"Zion I know it might take a little while for us to warm up back together but we will be fine. She's just a rebound mate."
His wolf didn't like the sound of that and he released his aura on her. She bent and bared her neck.
"Jessie this is embarrassing even for you. You don't speak about her much less insult her. As for your application for you and your husband to return it's officially denied. You're below standard. Now get out of my office and stay away from us. Jessie reluctantly shuffled up slinging her bag over her shoulder putting on her final show with tears in her eyes.
"All I want is one more chance with you to make things right."
The door opened and just like clockwork Samuel and Anastasia walked in from their patrol duty. This was what he was trying to avoid. Great. It didn't look good for his ex mate to be in his office asking for another chance.
Samuel surprise turns to anger as he growls at her and Anastasia looks like she's about to commit murder. They clearly heard her last plea.
Her eyes widen and her face pales as she takes in Anastasia whose eyes are glowing a dangerous orange red. She looks like she's about to pass out. Kiarra's blood was boiling at putting a face to the woman and she didn't like the fact that she was here begging to latch herself on back to him.
She released her aura heavy and she collapsed with a heavy thud on the floor, writhing in pain. Her father would be proud.
"It's nice to finally meet you Jessica. What chance exactly are you asking for? I might be able to help."
She shook her head vigorously on the floor.
"I don't do competitions Jessica. I'm going to give you the chance to leave alive but if you so much as look at Zion I will not take it lightly. He's mine and no else's. Understand?"
"Yes. Yes. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry." she started crying and Kiarra eased up and she ran out of the room like hell was behind her home to her two kids and mate.
"I'm going to make sure she leaves" Samuel grumbles and follows her. Zion looked at her impressed. She walks over to him and sits on his desk.
"Thank you for not killing her."
She straddled Zion and kissed him hard taking him by surprise hoping he could feel everything inside her. Even though she didn't say it she loved him more than anything.
