"This was never going to work any way"

She could feel his pain, feel his devastation and maybe his regret? He regretted her.

The hollow inside her grew. Her body felt weak and she wanted to collapse on the stairs. She tried to keep her trembling hands steady, flexing them. Just hold it together Kiarra. Kiarra you can do this. You can do this. He didn't even give her a chance to explain, or try to understand. Was she so easy to get rid of? She felt like she didn't mean anything to him at all. She didn't. His last words to her already sealed that fate. She was dead to him. She felt like a fool. She had sacrificed everything for him but she had made this mess herself. She would fix this as best as she could. But would he ever forgive her?

This daunting realisation made a soft strangled cry escape her throat and her tears started to flow. Her feet gave out unexpectedly and she huddled on the floor with her back against the wall. The pain was too much. Any other wolf would replace somewhere to fight through the pain but she couldn't. She just had to make sure nothing happened to him first as well as replace out about whatever war was on the horizon. Her father was well her father. C'mon Kiarra, get up. She wiped her tear stained cheek and got her self together; headed down the stairs. Castor's face was hard as he looked her over, his demeanor haughty; her swollen tear stained eyes was apparent not to mention her flushed appearance was hard to miss. She ignored the curious stairs and she didn't even spare a glance to see if he was following behind her marching her way out. The minute they walked through the door he grabbed her arm spinning her around.

"Ki are you okay?"

Her stone cold face looked at him blankly and for a second he didn't know what to expect. She couldn't believe him. She recoiled at the touch of his hands.

"I swear if you ever touch me again Castor" she told him calmly, her voice crystal clear but her eyes glowed a terrifying orange red and he knew he was walking a dangerous line so he left her alone. Though there was a celebratory smirk on his face. He loathed the idea that she was so distraught over the alpha but it was her fault. He had already told her she was his and there was no way he was going to let an alpha take her from him especially one in a wheelchair. She better not have let him touch her or else there will be hell to pay when he was king. Her gift was for him and him only.

Kiarra directed him to their house even though she didn't want to because it was theirs and somehow it felt intimate.

She quickly gathered everything including her travel documents into the car and hopped in. She made sure to leave his Christmas present for him. Castor sat there waiting for her with his continued smugness acting nonchalant with his big frame looking the place over. The minute Kiarra closed the door and the car started to car pull away the greater the pain became. She tried not to look back at what they had made together. Inside there was a great hollow and she was hurting too much. Her hand started to shake again and she tried to steady it on the door and she could see Castor glance her way worriedly. She was leaving her other half behind. She had hurt him and she felt it every inch of it. It was the worst feeling in the world. The packhouse was blurring behind her in the rear view mirror and she tried to look forward and not look back. Tried. She'd almost stopped the car but instead she rolled the window down and leaned her head against the door for the cool breeze when she felt she couldn't breathe, she was suffocating. It only made her feel slightly better.

The car was quiet and she was glad Castor had taken the hint and let her be. She didn't feel like she knew him anymore. The man around the steering wheel driving in triumph felt like a stranger. How could someone you grow up with turn into a stranger overnight? It was like he was possessed. Possessed with owning her, consuming her, marking her. It was hard because she kept thinking of who he was and not who he is now. It was her loyal heart that had still believed he would do her no wrong but after today all bets were off. After today he no longer had her loyalty or friendship.

She shifted and tried to focus on anything, even the sky turning grey with the little light fading from the sky signaling that it was dusk but everything reminded her of him. Like the way the tips of his hair glowed light golden when the sun hits it or the way the side of his eyes crinkled when she teased him about buying an all in one body wash.

She tried not to focus on the harsh words he'd told her before she left, she had to push on. This was all her fault if only she had told him the truth but she couldn't risk it. She couldn't risk him and now she had lost everything. The car slowed to a stop in front of the brightly lit airport and she didn't feel like getting out of the car. She felt tired and annoyingly looked over at Castor.

"The next flight out is in the next few hours so I thought we might sit in here awhile and talk" he said caringly giving her a half smile as if all was normal. She found herself studying him even more now down to every little detail.

Was he always this good at pretending and she didn't notice?

She didn't feel comfortable sharing any space with him especially since he was relentlessly declaring her as his. Her trust in him had waivered.

His eyes narrowed at her. Something in his eyes flickered as he looked at her all the way over against the door and before she could read it, it was gone. He gave a shallow laugh before tapping the wheel. "Don't worry I won't put my hands on you unless you want me to."

She wanted to strangle him. Something about his statement made her insides tighten.
