They were right to arrive early when they saw the ever growing procession of people pulling up to the gates. Zion flexed his fingers, he could barely calm his wolf down. He knew she wouldn't be out there but he couldn't help his eyes wandering around for her. Looking up at the high walls, windows and balcony to see if he would somehow see her.

The Lycan guards were thorough in their inspection of everyone and everything. It was almost annoying how detailed they were. You could tell by the way the other guests walked that they were pretentious. It was their turn as they pulled up and gave their names, handing over the card that was addressed to Zion. The stone-faced guard with short cropped hair glanced at it and looked back at them both. Yes, they were regular wolves and apparently the only ones among Lycans. But Zion knew that wasn't all, it was also because he was in a wheelchair. He patiently waited as his eyes outright wandered to Zion's legs quickly then back up to his face before handing him back his invite. Zion was used to it.

They slowly drove past the high gates taking in the place. It didn't seem real no matter how much they looked at the building before them. They had now found a way in. The next goal was to talk to her. They were ushered through the gates where a valet was waiting for them to park their car.

"Zion" Samuel called to his attention urgently.

"Yeah" Zion replied trying to pry his eyes from the windows and high walls.

"Uhm, that's a lot of stairs."

He looked to where a high mountain of stairs were lined by guards to get to the welcoming entrance of the palace. Zion cursed under his breath. Samuel brushed his hand over his chin, stopping the car.

"This might be embarrassing for you, but hear me out I'm going to have to carry you to the top."

There was an ever growing crowd of people entering the grounds and Zion blew out a breath.

"Let's go"

He could easily see some of the suitors already having exited their limousines walking in while he would have to be carried in by his baby brother. Shit just couldn't get any more embarrassing.

The minute he got out of the vehicle in his wheelchair, all eyes were on him. You'd think they'd never seen a wheel chair in the entire life. Samuel lifted the chair with him to bring up the steps that felt like they were never ending. He knew he heard a Lycan guest laugh as he was being brought up. He didn't care, he was here for her.

They finally arrived the top step and they were welcomed in. He hoped there weren't any more stairs.

If he thought the outside was breathtaking the inside was something else. The floors were covered in velvet carpeting running throughout. The palace ceilings were very high and if you craned your neck upwards you could see the dazzling chandeliers looped around.

The sound of light music playing kept their attention focused on where they were going. It was light and soft but perfect; giving a warm up of what was to come starting with something inviting. Two well dressed Lycan males and an older woman brushed past them harshly pretending as if they didn't see them and Zion had to remember to control his temper. They finally arrived outside the large room that had the largest chandelier they'd ever seen. It shone like a million diamonds and Zion wouldn't be surprised if it was. There was an endless number of servers dressed in black and white along the sidelines waiting to serve their elitist guests. He knew he was about to be entering a room of the most judgmental and stuck-up people. Everyone turned around to look at him when he entered the room satisfying their curiosity of the wolf in a wheelchair. They were judging him hard not bothering to conceal their comments and what their eyes said. "They invited the lame." A blonde woman laughed, turning around to her male counterpart.

"She did not just say that?!" Samuel growled to him, steaming at the comments, and Zion smiled.

He and Samuel found a spot to the side and stuck to it. They didn't know anyone and well they weren't necessarily there for conversation or getting to know anyone. The Lycans also didn't want to risk association with him by talking to him and he was fine with that. The Lycans were all exceptionally stunning. Gorgeous women were dressed to kill in expensive dresses and jewellery, their noses so high in the air. He also noticed that everyone's eyes were glancing every now and then towards another door on the opposite end. The men were an attractive line up and well let's just say Zion was trying not to focus on them which was impossible. You could tell who was here to vie for her and he wanted to kill them all.

Powerful men all in one room, they looked the ideal partner for her. They were whole and could carry her off the way a mate should, the way she deserved. Yet he had what no one else had and that was the mate bond. They were made for each other. They had love. They'd been together and created memories together. She responded to him and only him and he was confident in that. Though Zion should have known better for what was to happen.

What struck him the most was that he found it impossible to believe that she came from this world, existed in this world. His mate would wear one of his black t-shirts every day to trudge around in. She wasn't particular either about where she stayed when she visited his pack except that she share his bed. The Kiarra he knew was so different from these people in this room, it was a huge contrast. She was a kind soul and she had a big heart also she didn't have a pretentious bone in her body or she would never have given him the time of day. So how did she suffer these people?

Time ticked past as they waited listening to people excitedly talk about the princess from their section. Council members started arriving and the place was starting to fill up. A blonde woman suddenly sauntered in confidently and all eyes were on her and the chattering died down a bit. She was wearing a long white and gold sleeved dress with tiny pearl decorations. Her blonde hair was in a low bun. He knew it was her the moment he saw her. She moved with authority. It was Vivienne. She briefly moved through the crowd and when her hard cold eyes fell upon him he could feel the chill.

"Yep, she definitely hates you" said Samuel.
