The Princess’s Broken Alpha -
Chapter 74
"So you're saying you dreamt of her?" Samuel asked confused, trying to keep the uncertainty out of his voice so as not to trigger him. He was starting to believe Zion was losing his damn mind. It wouldn't be uncommon in his situation.
"It was a dream but it didn't feel like a dream." Zion tiredly tried to explain for the one hundredth time. "I was dreaming and then I found myself in her room at the palace. She was sleeping and it felt real. I'm telling you I touched her. I can meet her in my dreams like we have a connection or a bridge and we can visit each other's dreams."
His brother's familiar green eyes searched his face.
Samuel assessed him in the chair across from him. He looked a bit better but recent events were obviously taking a toll on him. He looked strained, worn thin. He wanted to suggest that maybe they go home because clearly this wasn't working and if he was going to lose his mind and everything it should probably be around people who knew him but he would never agree. It couldn't be a coincidence that Castor was recently heralded as her mate and well, Zion was now over here dreaming her up believing it was real? He believed this was where he would start to go downhill.
"I'm not crazy", Zion said calmly.
"That's what crazy people say."
Zion knew this would be hard to explain, especially at a time like this.
"Look, I'm not saying you're crazy, just that you are stressed and therefore it may be causing you to dream things up that you might believe are real in order to not process the news."
"That's the same as calling me crazy and it was real. I just have to replace a way to talk to her or communicate with her in her dreams or something."
"Zion, you were walking. If it were real you wouldn't be walking!"
He was slowly trying to talk sense into him but it was a losing battle.
"Then how does it explain her seeing me in her dreams as well. She has also done the same with me. This isn't anything new."
"What do you mean?" Samuel queried, placing his elbows on his legs making him look even more strangely oversized in the small chair. He was definitely listening now.
"She has mentioned seeing me in her dreams when I would change into my wolf at the cliff before she ever visited our pack. I think that's how she found out where I was. I think I can do the same."
"That makes sense," Samuel had to admit but it still sounded crazy." So your wolves allow you guys to basically dream walk in each other's dreams?"
"Yeah basically or almost"
"So what triggers it and is it something you can just do when you want to?"
"This is the tricky part. I think what triggers it is desperation. She was desperate to replace me and even though I wouldn't admit it I was desperate to be found especially at that time. It is the same with now. I am desperate for her and I think she is desperate for me too. I think I can do it again. I just don't know how to get her to participate in it. In our dreams one is always the dreamer and the other unaware. We've never both been active participants communicating with each other." Samuel leaned back and shook his legs.
"Zion, I know it's hard but this... this is extreme."
"No you don't know."
"Maybe we should dial it back a bit. I'm going to be frank with you. This sounds far fetched."
Samuel had seen him clutching that picture for dear life in his room for days. He would finally snap when she mated to Castor. He was also way too calm.
"I look crazy but I'm not crazy."
Zion knew he must look a hot mess, he also hadn't changed his shirt in days among other things. He couldn't scream at him that he wasn't crazy because that wouldn't help him prove his point.
"I'll figure it out."
He decided to drop it there. He couldn't convince Samuel it was real because he couldn't believe when it had happened either. He would try again tonight when he was sure they would both be asleep. Maybe he could figure out a way then.
He waited until night and then he tried again praying for sleep. He'd never been so anxious to fall asleep in his life. He soon felt himself drifting off to sleep as he held her picture tight.
He felt the soft carpet beneath his feet and breathed out in relief. He was in her room again and she was there sleeping. This time her legs were pushed up a bit. She still looked innocent and he brushed her hair back with his hand.He slowly walked to sit on the bed before her as she slept. If she could somehow feel him then maybe he could wake her?
He decided to try.
"Kiarra" he called but she showed no signs of hearing him. He just needed her to open her eyes. " Kiarra"
He gently shook her trying again and again but nothing.
"Kiarra." he called harder but nothing. Zion tried everything but she wouldn't wake and he cursed under his breath. He felt like he was watching her slip away from him and all he could do was watch. She was to be mated and now here he was trying to wake her in his dreams.
"Come on" he called out in the darkness of her room.
He closed his eyes and tried to use his wolf to connect hers. It wasn't hard getting him to replace his mate. He almost jumped when he heard a gasp beside him and almost a small scream. He couldn't believe it. She was up against the headboard putting space between them.
She was staring up at him, her face in confusion. He could finally see her hazel eyes.
"Hi"
Kiarra looked around the room and made a calculated guess.
"I'm dreaming?"
"Yeah we both are."
"Why are you in my dreams?" her brows scrunched together and he was cautious in case this got out of hand and he lost her again.
"Because there was no other way I could talk to you. This is important."
"Don't you think this is a stretch?
Zion also didn't know how long he had so he had to make it fast.
"Meet me tomorrow at-"
"
Why would I meet with you?"
"Because I have something you'll want to hear. I promise it isn't a set up or anything Princess. Just meet me for half an hour. That's all I'm asking please."
Shit he didn't even know any restaurant or know England that well. All he's eaten since he was here was what Samuel ordered.
"We'll meet at Grove Park tomorrow."
She seemed to be contemplating and he was positive she was going to tell him to get out of her dreams but instead her soft, gentle voice broke his anxiety. "Okay. I will meet you tomorrow at Grove Park. What time?"
"How about 10 ?"
"Alright, I'll see you there."
