The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 149 Suzy thanked George.
Chapter 149 Suzy thanked George.
George nodded slightly. There was neither joy nor anger in his eyes. Whenever Suzy was in trouble last time, she would call him and he would always be happy to help. However, today, he was not.
He just looked at Suzy. "Get in. I'll take you home."...
Suzy did not move and said softly, "Some of our things are still at Berry.". Colt immediately said considerately, "Suzy, why don't you go with Uncle George first? It just so happens that I'm also going to Berry to meet my friend later, so I can pick up the things we left there. I'll give you a call later."
Suzy had no choice but to nod. "Thank you."
Colt waved at her and thanked George again before he turned to go.
Jessie drove, while George and Suzy sat in the back.
There was a vague silence in the car.
After a while, George looked at her, then behind her ear. His eyes darkened. "Did you get hurt?
Suzy was stunned for a moment and followed his gaze to touch her ear. When she saw red on her fingers, she shook her head. "No. It's just paint."
George still looked slightly upset. "It seems that you're going to the station every month. That's impressive. Are you looking for a rich guy or a father?"
Suzy suddenly turned to look at him.
George looked at her. "Why are you looking at me like I said something wrong? At least I don't have to worry about Ean and Enoah!"
Every time the police called, it would either be because she was in a gang fight. In the worst scenario, she would be injured.
Suzy's face turned red all the way up to her ears. Her eyes were as stubborn as they were that day in Kelsen as she said coldly, "I didn't call you. Even if I did, you didn't have to come!" George instantly looked upset. He narrowed his eyes dangerously as he slowly spoke, "Say that again!"
Jessie suddenly said, "Ms. Shirley, Mr. Laine was in a very important meeting and came over as soon as he received your call!"
George shot Jessie a cold look. "Did I ask you to speak for me?"
Jessie put his focus back on driving and did not dare to speak up anymore.
George's phone rang, and when he answered it, it sounded like a call from the office.
Suzy turned her head to look out of the car window. Her lips were pursed, and her chest was tight.
The moment she found out that George had come, she was a little touched and wanted to thank him when she saw him. However, for some reason, the two of them had been butting heads lately.
Besides, they had already separated. When they were together, they had agreed not to talk about money. Why was he her sugar daddy?
George hung up the phone and asked in a soft voice, "Where to? Are you still staying at Royal Court?"
There was a ball in Suzy's throat as she muttered lowly, "Just drop me off at the subway station up ahead."
George glanced at her and asked again, "Where to?" Suzy bit her lip for a moment before she muttered, "Royal Court."
George gazed at her lip that was red from her biting down too hard. He understood, and after a while, he turned away.
Jessie turned right at the junction ahead and drove toward Royal Court.
Neither of them said anything to each other again. The car was cold and silent. For some reason, time seemed to go by slower too.
When the car was approaching Royal Court, Suzy spoke softly, "A friend of mine will be crashing here for a few days. I told my friend that she can stay in the guest bedroom. Sorry I'm only telling you now. She'll only be staying for a few days." George turned around. "Is she a guy or a girl?"
