The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 191
Back in the villa where Winona and Bennett stayed, Bennett had not gone to bed yet. He was a little surprised to see her come back. "Why'd you come back so soon?" Winona leaned against the wooden fence and laughed lightly. "I have to disappoint you. Hilde isn't interested in me at all.".
Bennett was disappointed and found it strange. "How can that be?"
"Perhaps I'm not attractive enough for Hilde to be unfaithful to his wife." Winona shrugged and walked to the bedroom. "I'm tired. I'm heading to bed first."
Bennett did not say anything else and replied, "Go and get some rest." Winona did not bother turning her head back, and the look on her face was indiscernible. It was not until she entered the bedroom and closed the door that she finally collapsed to the floor. She closed her eyes, and tears flowed down her face slowly. The next day, Suzy woke up in George's arms. The sky was already bright, and the sun was shining brightly on her face.
She had indeed let herself go last night. Suzy felt uncomfortable all over, and her head was ringing from the hangover.
George coaxed her to get up to eat breakfast. While she was still eating, Bennett's subordinate came over to ask George to head to their villa, saying that Mr. Townsend wanted to talk to George about something.
George was not in a hurry to head over to Bennett's and accompanied Suzy to finish up her breakfast. Then, he asked the servant to cook some soup for Suzy.
Suzy said, "Perhaps Mr. Townsend needs you urgently. Otherwise, he wouldn't have invited you over so early in the morning. There's no need to worry about me."
"Mm. If you don't feel well, go and lay down on the bed for a while. I'll be back real soon." George kissed the side of her face and instructed the servant to care for her before going out to see Bennett.
Suzy's thighs were sore, and her head was spinning. Hence, she did not feel like going out. After George left, she simply went back to her room to read.
Inside the villa where Bennett was staying, Winona was called over by Mrs. Merck early in the morning. There was only Bennett in the study.
Seeing George, Bennett greeted him and asked with a smile, "Is Ms. Shirley okay?"
George smiled lightly. "She's a little unwell from the drinking last night, but it's not a big problem."
"Then she should have a good rest," said Bennett with concern.
"Mm-hmm."
The two exchanged a few words before Bennett cut to the chase. "I got the news that Hilde
seems to be in touch with the Walkers from Yossin County as well. We're not his only or final choice."
George was not surprised. "Hilde's plan to develop in Cantent has been in preparation for several years. Naturally, he won't be so casual in choosing a partner." "But we have the upper hand, so we can't miss such an opportunity." Bennett took a bottle of Romanée-Conti from the wine rack, poured a glass of it, and handed it to George. "We'll have to ask Hilde to sign the agreement as soon as possible." George stood in front of the window, his posture tall and noble. "Do you have a good idea in mind, Mr. Townsend?"
As Bennett held the wine glass in his hand, raised his eyebrow, and smiled. "It's nothing more than providing something that fits someone's taste. We just have to make Hilde happy and see our sincerity! I have an idea in mind, but I don't know if you'll be willing to do it?" George's bottomless eyes showed his usual indifference. "Let's hear it, Mr. Townsend." Bennett lowered his voice. "Hilde seems to fancy our nation's ladies. I was willing to give him Winnie, but unfortunately, he doesn't seem to like her." He sighed regretfully and looked at George insinuatingly. "I heard that he prefers younger and more innocent ones. From what I found out, Ms. Shirley somewhat resembles Mrs. Merck when she was younger. If you're willing to allow Ms. Shirly to work a little, Mr. Laine, I think Hilde will sign the agreement soon. Once the deal is done, I'll be willing to give up two points of profit." The artificial intelligence they wanted to create would be monopolized in Cantent for decades in the future, so the two points of profit were already the greatest bit of sincerity that Bennett was willing to fork out!
George lowered his eyes, showing no emotion on his usually indifferent handsome face. He raised his head, looked at Bennett, and said in a low voice, "Please bring the wine bottle over to me, Mr. Townsend."
Bennett was overjoyed. He turned around and took the wine bottle, raising his hand to pour George some more wine.
All of a sudden, George stretched out his hand to grab the wine bottle. Then, he raised it and hit Bennett on the head.
