The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 215
"Yeah!" James responded.
The toilet had already flushed automatically, so there was no need for Nelly to do it. She helped him head out of the bathroom, and once he was settled on the bed, she heaved out a long breath. She asked, "What else do you need?" James
said somewhat naturally, "I'm hungry!"
He only had a bowl of chicken soup from the morning till now. Of course, he was hungry.
Nelly thought that this was something easy to handle and asked, "What would you like to eat? I'll whip it up for you."
James casually ordered two dishes, and Nelly nodded at him. "Alright. I'll get to it. You should lie down and rest for a while."
After she was done talking, she covered James up with the blanket, then closed the gauze curtain in the room to dim the light in the room so that he could rest.
James looked at her busy figure and felt a very strange feeling in his heart.
Nelly went into the kitchen and took out the ingredients. She thought about preparing two more dishes since it was already noontime.
She wore an apron and proceeded to wash the vegetables, chop them, and even sliced some fish filets... Everything was done in an orderly manner, and her movements were neat and tidy.
Since James was injured in the head, she deliberately used light flavors in all her dishes. In less than an hour, four dishes were ready on the table. Then, she reheated the leftover chicken soup from before and scooped it into a bowl.
Back in the master bedroom, James was leaning on the bedside while on a phone call. He said in a gentle tone, "I'm on a business trip right now. It was a last-minute thing, so I didn't have time to inform you. "Come on, baby. I'll keep you company once I get back. You can get anything you like and put it on my card!
"Mm-hmm. I love you too!"
Nelly stood at the door and rolled her eyes. Why on earth was Shiomara head over heels for this man? She should have invited her over to listen to this conversation.
After the man was done with the call, she stepped forward to ask, "The meal is ready. Would you like to eat now?"
James smiled and nodded, "Sure."
Nelly moved the small table she had bought for reading and laptop use on the bed to the master bedroom. She placed it on James' bed instead. It was just enough to fit four plates of food,
Nelly handed him the utensils and said, "Take it slow and call for me once you're done."
James lifted his head and asked, "Aren't you eating?"
Nelly said, "I've set aside some dishes for myself. I'll eat them in the dining room."
James could not help but laugh. "What do you take me for? Get your plate and let's eat together."
Nelly hurriedly replied, "No need. This table's small and can't fit both of us!"
Mainly, it was because she was afraid that she would not be able to swallow her food while
eating face-to-face with the man.
"It's just one more plate. Stop being so long-winded. Hurry up and get your utensils here. If you're not here, I have to call you whenever I need something. I can't talk too much at the moment or I'll get a headache," James spoke slowly, but it was in a tone that Nelly could not reject.
Nelly had no choice but to agree to his request. She turned around to get her utensils. After a short while, they both sat on the bed and were only separated by a small table. They ate quietly.
James had always been picky about food and had a preference for stronger flavors. Yet today, he wondered if he was truly famished. He ate every dish with gusto even though Nelly's food was somewhat bland. He made no secret of his praise for Nelly's cooking skills.
Nelly blushed from his compliments and said a little embarrassedly, "Well, if you like it, Mr. Collins, I can cook up more next time." Since he did not ask her to pay for the medical expenses, all she could do was take care of his daily needs and cook for him.
James smiled and said, "I believe from the things we've been through, we can be considered friends now, no? Stop calling me Mr. Collins. It makes us sound too distant. Everyone I'm close with calls me ), so you can call me that as well." Nelly nodded slowly. "Sure!"
James' phone rang again, and he took it over to answer the call. It seemed that someone was looking for him to attend a drinking party, but he merely chuckled and said, "You boys go ahead. I can't go right now!" Then, the person on the phone asked what he was doing. James said in a calm tone, "I just gave birth!"
Then, he hung up the phone with an indifferent expression.
Nelly lifted her head up in surprise, looking at the man with gauze wrapped around his head and a thin blanket covering his legs. She could not hold it back and almost spat out her food from laughing. She quickly turned to the side and covered her mouth.
However, her shoulders continued to quiver. She started to become uncomfortable from holding back her laughter. James acted calm and continued to eat as if nothing had happened, Nelly was admiring this man more and more!
