Chapter 69:

? ? ? ? ?

Alice felt a smile, although a forced one, creep across her face. “You seem to have had a lot of practice at this, Mr. Ward.”

She mused that Caden's thrill-seeking felt deliberate and methodical. He'd probably had his share of women in the past. The thought sent a pang through Alicia's chest, but she quickly reminded herself not to think about it.

They're just two adults looking for pleasure. There's no need to complicate things any further, Alice assured herself.

As Alicia tried to get out of the car, she realized that Caden's grip hadn't eased in the slightest. His body felt disconnected, his gaze hollow and unreadable. “So, shall we continue?”

Caden's expression remained neutral, but his fingers remained on her skin, showing no sign of wanting to end this.

"Not exactly against," he replied.

Alicia Caden pushed her hand away. “Joshua will be here any minute.”

A crooked smile curved Caden's lips. “Wouldn’t it be more interesting if he came in with us?”

Alice found herself unable to respond. How disgusting.

At that moment, Alice noticed fresh blood staining the bandage on her shoulder. After a brief pause, she removed the bandage and picked up the trousers she had carelessly tossed aside. She chose a clean piece of cloth to wipe the blood off.

Caden frowned. “What the hell are you doing?”

"You're bleeding again," Alice said, gently pressing the cloth against the wound.

Caden, always obsessed with cleanliness, scoffed with a humorless chuckle. “And you're wearing the pants you just put on? “Why not your underwear while you’re at it?”

As she spoke she caught a piece of pink and white cloth on her finger and waved it before her. Alice, taken unawares, quickly handed it back to her.

"You're disgusted."

Caden let out a low, mocking laugh. “Funny, you didn’t seem to mind when you lifted your legs earlier, making it easier for me to pull them off.”

Alice couldn't replace an answer.

She had intended to apply some ointment, but now all she wanted was to get out of here as quickly as possible. If she continued like this, she was sure her face would burn.

The moment Alicia pulled away, Caden's eyes fell on the noticeable stain on her pants.

Raising an eyebrow, he remarked, “Miss Bennett, have you by any chance been through a storm?”

Alice adjusted her clothes, replying softly, “No, I didn't.”

“Then explain this.” Caden pointed at the wet spot, with a mocking but knowing smile.

Alice's breathing hitched as she shifted her gaze, clearly uneasy. "It must have been the rain."

Caden's smile widened. He casually pulled out a tissue and wiped his fingers as if it were a routine matter. “What a downpour, huh? “It even managed to soak my fingers.”

Once he was done, Caden's gaze returned to Alicia. "Miss Bennett, you may be feeling pretty happy right now, but what about me?"

Alicia stiffened, her eyes instinctively lowering. It had been… intense. He probably had reason to be dissatisfied. Twice, he had been cut off from the fun before he even got a real taste of what he was looking for.

His tone softened. “So, what do you want to do?”

Caden’s eyes darkened, noticing how cooperative Alicia seemed. But how many men can really resist? The more submissive a woman is, the more tempting it is to push her further, he thought.

“Next time, if the opportunity presents itself, I’ll decide then.” Caden's voice, deep and rough, had a seductive tone. “Whatever it is that I want, will you let me have it, Miss Bennett?”

Alice's heart was beating uncontrollably.

“Absolutely not.” Unsure of what Caden was up to, Alicia hesitated. “A little should be more than enough.”

Caden let out a quiet laugh. “You like things to be fair?”

His eyes drifted to her slender fingers. “Very well.”

Alice's cheeks burned as she quickly pulled her hands away and ran out of the car.

The rain had let up. Like her mood, the lingering tension gave way to a sense of calm.

As Caden left, Alicia walked under the umbrella and soon saw Joshua's car approaching. He got out and his eyes immediately took in Alicia. His gaze was piercing, as if he saw right through her, leaving nothing unnoticed.

Alice, who had earlier dressed herself, stood erect, facing his inspection with calm confidence.

Joshua was quick to notice the blood stain on his pants. “What's wrong?” he asked, his brow furrowed in confusion.

Alice put her hand on her stomach, her expression rejected. “It's that time of the month.”

Joshua frowned. “Then why are you out? Don’t we have any medicine at home?”

Alicia explained: “We don’t have pads at home.”

"You could have asked the maid to bring you some."

“Are you talking about Georgia?” Alice murmured softly. “She's not fond of me. “I didn’t want to upset her.” Her words were carefully chosen, and Joshua accepted them without question.

"Get in. I'll take you back."

After dropping her off at the Yates family home, Joshua stayed in the car.

Alice asked, "Are you going out again?"

"Yeah."

Joshua felt that with Alicia on her period, there wasn't much he could do here. It made more sense to spend time with Lilliana and make sure his presence was felt.

Before leaving, Joshua handed Alicia a card.

“Here’s $500,000. Tell me when you need more and I’ll transfer it to you,” he said, gently brushing her cheek with his fingers. “Be good. “I’ll give you whatever you want.”

Alicia took the card and a wave of cynicism washed over her. The money in that account had originally belonged to her. Joshua had the audacity to use his own money to control it.

After accepting the card, Alice agreed.

“Make sure you drive carefully,” he said quietly.

Joshua studied her closely. She looked exactly the same as always.

Unable to contain himself, he lifted his chin and pressed his lips against hers.
