The Witch's Pirate! (Book 1)
Chapter Four: Escape

Bayou

“You got the wrong person, please listen to me,” the woman on my shoulders kept on insisting. Ignoring her, I spot Max running toward me, only to see him grip his arm with blood rushing down it.

“I never get how you can get out without a scratch,” he hissed while we rushed down the stairs of the back of the castle.

“Pure luck, I guess.” I teased, shrugging at him.

Stopping in my tracks, I turned to see many women running away with my crew mates along the side of them. I breathed out, feeling relief that my most of my mates are still alive.

“The hell are they doing?” I arched a brow, turning to face Max. Max cleared his throat.

“While you were flirting your way in, I found a secret entrance near the gardens and found these young wenches caged up, so as a gentleman I am. I set them free. Never leave a lady behind,” he lavished.

“Good to have them escape as well, just don’t bring them to my ship. One witch is enough,” I told him, as I adjust the woman in my shoulders, only to bite of a groan. Her weight is placing stress on my shoulders, well she weighs just like a sack of potatoes. A small thing she is but heavy. I heard her yelp and grabs the back of my shirt.

“Let’s go.” I moved rapidly.

“Oi, she’s not complaining?” Max asked, worried since the princess had mercifully shut her mouth. I shrugged at him.

“I told her to be a good little princess, she listens well,” Max gave me a strange look but didn’t say anything. We finally reached the ocean coast, and I stopped to look back. The king’s guardsmen were a bit slow while they ran toward us.

“The boats are close, let’s go.” Max pointed out. I turned and headed toward the waters, to spot some of my own boats floating away. I groaned.

I told them to tie them down, why doesn’t anyone listen?

“HURRY, THEY ARE GETTING AWAY!” the king shouted, I turned around to see him on his brown horse, galloping toward us.

“Oh, look, they are actually trying to chase us, how delightful. That blasted King should really train his guards better, they are worse than Captain Jones scurvy mates.” I mumbled, while I enter the cold waters. I shivered at the contact, but shrug it off, as I speed walk towards the floating boat, that almost came out of reach. With a grunt, I gently lowered the princess inside the boat and I jumped in causing the ship to rock for a brief second. The woman gasps, taking hold of the edge of the boat to steady it.

“At least we escaped them.” I mumbled, turning to see Max falling inside the small boat, causing it to raddle even more.

“Oi, old dog, can you row?” I asked Max, watching him get into another boat.

“It’s just a scrape, I’m not immobile, just go mate!” he waved his hand at me. I nodded, and grab the oars and started to row. I look back, to see the King and his guardsmen finally reaching us, starting to shoot at us, making the splash at the waters.

I move my body up, and grab the woman and lower her, covering her with mine. I smirked, as I lifted my gaze and snap my fingers. A small yet powerful wave has appeared behind us, causing the boat to be pushed forward, making our bodies to rise a little which I held the woman tighter, just in case.

“Damn It!” I heard someone curse in the background. I lifted my body up, and turned, to see the King in the waters, while he order the others to get boats.

Oh, thank God, at least we made it.

The woman in front of me grunted, and moved her hand, yanking off her veil. I turn back to look at her, but it is too dark to see so I can’t make out her features right then.

“Oi, bloody pirate, I’m not the princess!” she screamed at me. Her voice is soft, but a bit raspy at the same time. That made my heart thump oddly.

Okay, strange, why did her voice make my heart thump?

I blinked, shrugging off what just happen, but became surprised by her bold words. I suddenly moved closer to her, face to face and smirked. She gave out a small gasp, inching her body backward, but she couldn’t get too far due to the tight space.

“Can... Can you, please move back,” she begged. I blinked and tilted my head to the side.

“Why?” I could practically feel her cheeks warming up. Don’t know why, but I am enjoying this more than I wanted to.

“Do I have to give you a reason? Please respect my space, just move back.”

She moves her hands and placed them on my shoulders and pushed me until I felt the small wall of the boat on my back. I stare at her surprised by actions, but then again, I couldn’t resist to smirk at her.

She’s not normal, well then, I like that.

“Oi witch, no woman has ever done that before to me. You know I’m a bloody pirate, right?” I asked.

“Oh my, you don’t say? I didn’t take notice. Did you know, that I’m human and you as well? Or did your blasted pirate ways made you forget about personal space?” she replies, as she clenches into her bottom dress, as though she was trying to hide her fear. I arched a brow, and grab the oar of the boat, and started to row.

“Pirate, my witch, I doubt I need to answer you that because I’m not in the mood to teach you right now.” I answered, which makes her turn her head looking at a distance.

“So that includes the King? Apparently having a tittle, gives you an excuse to do anything you want.” I heard her whisper to herself in a hurt tone, which causes me to frown.

I turned around to see if anyone was following us. The woman turns to look back at me.

“Okay, I’m going to repeat it once more, but slowly, apparently you are dense or hard of hearing. I... Am... Not.. I repeat, NOT... The.. Princess.” she hisses slowly, so I can understand it even better.

“I am not dense, and I have perfect hearing. I can clearly understand what you mean, but I choose not the believe you. You can be lying, and you know it’s hard to trust people now in days sadly. Also, a lady shouldn’t be speaking in such manner.” I told her. I can somewhat see her roll her eyes at me.

“Pff, you don’t trust people? Please? I wonder why?” I heard her whisper to herself.

Like you know anything about me! Somehow, I felt a bit offended by her words.

She moves her head, to an angle, catching the moonlight reflect down on her, just enough that I could see her eyes. My breath caught for a second, to see the profound green eyes like I had never seen in my life, and I traveled around a lot and met many women across my path.

I have never seen such dark green eyes in my life. Yes, light green eyes, but never like hers. They look like emeralds.

“Good and I’m no lady to do so. Well, I’m not a woman. I mean, ugh, never mind,” She replies to me, turning her head away from my sight since she became confused on what she clearly wanted to tell me. I saw her squint her face in embarrassment.

Even though I can’t make out her face clearly, she has a very pleasurable look even when she’s mad.

I chuckled at her.

“Don’t worry love, if you were a man, trust me, I wouldn’t even bother. Men aren’t my taste too hairy and masculine. I think I picked the right woman.”

“You are barbaric pirate and hard of hearing!” she huffs crossing her arms and look back at me.

“Aye love, it comes with the job I told you, apparently I’m not one of hard of hearing. Welcome to my hell Love. Trust me, you won’t regret it!”

With that, we headed for the ship, not knowing what is in store for me, but thing for sure, never in my life, was I more amused with a woman, until today.
